• Bill Ward And Type O Negative’s Surviving Members May Finally Release Their Collaborative Track

Awhile back, Black Sabbath’s Bill Ward was working on a new collaborative track with Type O Negative’s Johnny Kelly, Kenny Hickey, and Josh Silver. However, the song has yet to surface. As such, Kelly was recently asked about the single during a chat with Mark Strigl. According to him, Ward is currently planning to complete the track in the near future.

    Kelly said the following:

“I wanna say at this point, maybe it was eight years ago, something like that. The foundation of it is, at the time, when Peter [Steele] had passed away, Bill had written a song in tribute to Peter. And he wanted to get the rest of us to play on it — Kenny, Josh and myself. So Kenny and I went out to California. We did the drum tracks, did the guitar tracks for it. I think Kenny’s singing on it a little bit. I think [Jason “Dewey” Bragg] may be singing on [the song], ’cause through that friendship of Bill and I, Dewey became friends with Bill Ward, and then Bill would have Dewey sing a lot of the stuff. Bill’s always working on music, so he’s always writing and recording and stuff like that. And he grabbed Dewey. So we did the song. Josh actually did a keyboard track on it and stuff. He didn’t go to California; he did it in New York. And that was it. We recorded the song, and for a long time I wasn’t really sure what’s going on or whatever. But the last time I spoke to Bill, he was talking about getting the song finished… That was this year. It was after [the] ‘Back To The Beginning’ [concert in early July]. He said that he was gonna start working on that and get it wrapped up.”

He continued when asked if the song is heavy:

“Uh, yes, it’s heavy, melancholy. I’m trying to remember it. It was eight years ago. [Laughs] As it was happening, I was just like… Bill Ward was my hero growing up, so to sort of become friends with him… And now I’m in a room recording with him. And I was just in awe of the whole experience. So I’m sitting there on the kit, and Bill is in front of me like a maestro, pointing, telling me where to go and what to [play]. I’m just, like, ‘Deep breath.’”

Kelly also added the following after Strigl expressed interest in hearing the song:

“I wanna hear it too. And it’s cool in the sense where you have the three surviving members of TYPE O actually playing music together, which is cool in itself to me. And then, throw on top of it, you’re working with people from BLACK SABBATH — like, O.G. BLACK SABBATH. So it’s pretty cool in that sense. But, yeah, hopefully it comes out soon. I guess we’ll all know when it comes out.”

  • Tom Morello: “There’s Probably Like An Album’s Worth Of Great Audioslave Songs That Were Not Released”

During a recent interview with snsmix, Audioslave’s Tom Morello confirmed that the band are still sitting on unreleased material. According to him, “there’s probably like an album’s worth of great Audioslave songs that were not released.”

    Morello said the following:

“There’s probably like an album’s worth of great Audioslave songs that were not released. In part because — first let me explain — that when bands are deciding what songs go on their records and what don’t, it’s not always sensible. It’s not like here’s the 10 best jams. Sometimes it’s like, someone likes this one, someone’s not feeling that one. So, we had from each of the three Audioslave records, we had songs left over, some of which are really great.

And you know, I hate say this because it’s just every time it comes up in interviews, it’s a tease. It becomes a pull-quote that people hound me about. It’s not for lack of anything other than that just we don’t have it together. There’s no plan to not put it out. I would love for it to get in the world, and hopefully it will one day.”

  • Firewind Part Ways With Singer Herbie Langhans, Reunite With Henning Basse

Firewind have parted ways with singer Herbie Langhans. Henning Basse will be returning to take his place.

Guitarist Gus G. commented during a livestream:

“A lot of things have been happening. It seems that it’s been a quiet year for FIREWIND, but it has not been a quiet year at all. It’s been an eventful year, and we are preparing for a lot of stuff in ’26.

Tomorrow we’re gonna have a big press release going out… But the big news that we wanna share first is that Herbie is out of the band,” he continued. “I don’t know if it’s gonna come as a shock to some of you. But maybe if you have been following FIREWIND, it shouldn’t be so much of a shock because we have had some singers coming and going, as you know.

But, yeah, we just wanna wish Herbie Langhans all the best for the time in this band, the music we made together. And we wanted to tune in and let you guys know here first. Herbie was very busy with AVANTASIA and we had a busy schedule and we kept clashing and choices had to be made. But the show must go on. He’s a great guy. He’s a great singer. He offered a lot to this band, but show must go on. And we have a lot of stuff planned for the next year. We have some really good festivals lined up. We’re working on a new album. We’re working on more tours for ’26 and ’27, and at the same time, we wanna announce the new singer.”

He also added the following about reuniting with Basse:

“If you guys are new here, we can tell a couple of things about Henning. Henning goes back — way back — with the band, since 2007. He was on the ‘Allegiance’ world tour. He helped us finish the tour. Then he joined the band for good in 2016. We made an album together called ‘Immortals’, which is one of the strongest FIREWIND albums in our career. We’ve done quite a few tours together, and then in 2019 we went separate ways for different reasons, but we always remained friends. And we thought this was perfect timing to call up Henning and see what he’s doing and if he would be interested to work with us again. And luckily he was.”

    Basse chimed in as well:

“I’m back and happy about it. We have a great band vibe going on here. We know each other for so long, and I’m very happy.”

He also confirmed that Firewind will be his main focus:

“Well, besides all the touring, I’m a voice coach. I’m a studio singer. I’m doing this for a living, but I don’t have any plans on doing another band project live because this is priority and I wanna do this as long as we can… It’s the best thing, whatever happened to me now, and all these shitty years behind me, and now it’s so much better. So, yeah, this is the future, man.”
