The Mars Volta’s recent countdown timer has ended and the website now seems to be teasing a “Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos Del Vacio” live album. The band played that album in full on tour last year and it appears fans can vote for the performances they want to see on the live record. The tracks also include cryptic symbols that correspond to each city.
Fu Manchu will be releasing 30th anniversary vinyl pressings of “In Search Of…” on August 28. The band said the following about that:
“You asked and we delivered. The In Search Of… 30th Anniversary Edition double LP / gatefold – one LP is a brand new master of the original album and the 2nd LP is the original demos that were recorded on a 4-track Tascam 1995 and are being released for the first time anywhere. 2 different limited variants available for pre-sale June 22nd with general on-sale August 28th.”
Knocked Loose have shared the second episode of their “Wherever We May Roam” tour diary. That series focuses on the band’s current European/UK tour, which finds them playing a number of shows with Metallica and Gojira. That trek has not gone too smoothly considering frontman Bryan Garris was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy and guitarist/vocalist Isaac Hale was hit by a car. Garris commented:
“Hello, Bell’s Palsy update, we are on two and a half to three weeks since the diagnosis from the first video. I just want to say thank you to everybody that reached out with their concern. I’m doing fine. I’m experiencing no pain, just a lot of discomfort. Since the video, it did get a little bit worse. I got to a point where my left eye was no longer blinking at all, and when I would try to smile, the left side of my mouth was just completely closed — fully stiff — which was difficult. But since then it has actually gotten better. I woke up today feeling better than I have since the diagnosis. So I’m regaining some movement here… So yeah, hopefully this means we’re on the road to recovery. I’ve been getting acupuncture, been hitting the sauna — apparently the heat is good for the for the circulation of blood. So, thanks for everybody that was worried about me. We’re doing good.”

Of Mice & Men have cancelled their summer European/UK tour. The band commented:
“Due to circumstances beyond our control we sadly won’t be able to make it out to Europe this summer as planned. Apologies to all the fans, festivals & promoters we were looking forward to playing for.”
Vianova’s June 9 show in Hamburg, Germany will see the band playing drum tracks on a laptop. The band were forced into that position after drummer Paul Vogelgesang required hernia surgery and fill-in drummer Nick Oberhäuser ended up in the hospital. The group issued the following statement:
“Hey Hamburg, we had some real bad luck yesterday. Unfortunately Paul could not make the show, because he is getting surgery for his hernia. A fill in drummer was supposed to help out, however he also got hospitalized yesterday because he got really ill. We will still play the show tonight with the support of our good buddy DrumGPT aka our laptop. Hope you guys understand and still give us the same energy as a 3-piece”
Chat Pile have premiered a new video for their new song “Deep Blue.” This track is from the band’s new album, “Who Loves The Sun,” which will be released on September 4 via The Flenser.
Bassist/keyboardist Stin commented on the song:
“This is the first track we wrote for the album and the one that helped set the tone for the whole thing. I personally love this because it sounds like Chat Pile doing a Billy Squire song. It’s our ‘Lonely is the Night,’ which is actually a fake Led Zeppelin song so who knows what the hell we’re actually doing here?”
Vocalist/guitarist Raygun Busch continued:
“Technology is rapidly ruining our lives, all promise seemingly squandered on the worst things, like killing people, wasting resources, destroying art- shrinking our brains and pulling us further apart than ever before.”
He also commented on the album:
“This record focuses on my grievances with the modern world. AI, genocide, climate change, the power elite, $$$$ hoarding pigs— all that shit fucks up your life and mine. The band is definitely stretching out their abilities on the album and I too felt inspired to go further— as a huge fan of Boston, I like to think Brad Delp is somewhere up there, smiling down, as I take the layering to new heights, but who can say? We have fun with it.”
Stin added:
“This album contains a healthy dose of the usual Chat Pile airing of grievances against the state of the world, but deeper at it’s heart I feel Who Loves the Sun is grappling with the challenges of trying to keep one’s humanity in a time of extreme anti-humanity.”
“Who Loves The Sun” Track Listing:

Underoath’s Chris Dudley commented:
“What this album has meant to us, and so many others, over the past 20 years is hard to quantify. It gave us permission to be ourselves. It sent us around the world. It gave people the freedom to say (and scream) the things out loud they had buried deep. It will outlive us. We still play these songs on stage 20 years later and get those chills. The opportunity to devote an entire tour to presenting this album in the best way it ever has been, alongside friends we’ve had since before it was released, is going to be bucket list material for us.”
