Steel Panther are working on some new music. The sessions have been taking place at Foo Fighters vocalist/guitarist Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 with producer Jay Ruston.
Drummer Stix Zadinia said the following during an appearance on the “Lo-Fi Podcast“:
“We don’t have a release date. We manage our band. We are the merch company. We are the record company. We’re maybe one of the biggest DIY bands — except for METALLICA. But we don’t have a label. And we have a booking agent, but we do it ourselves. So we are not on any sort of label timetable. And so what we decided was, ‘Look, we have the time now. Let’s go track four songs.’ We will probably go back and do another four, and whether we do another four or not and do a full-length release, I’m not sure. I don’t know if we’re gonna drip singles out like people are doing now. I don’t know. I don’t know if we’re gonna do an EP. So the future for us of how to get this out and when to get it out, we’re a little uncertain, but if I had to guess, I would say it will be top of ’26. Maybe a single will come out before then, for Christmas. But we’re gonna go back in and track four to eight more songs over the next few months.
This process is different, ’cause usually we go in, we go, ‘Okay, here’s the 14 songs. Let’s go. Here’s the studio time. Boom.’ And we go do it. This is a little bit different, and it’s a little more freeing because we can really put our energy into a smaller amount of songs so you can spend more energy per song.”
He also added the following about working at Studio 606:
“That board, that’s the infamous Sound City Neve board, complete with Paul McCartney’s signature on it. And so being in that room, I guess Dave Grohl built that studio 20 years ago — it’s 20 years old now — he built it for rock. Honestly, dude, it’s probably the best rock room in L.A. And I’ve been to Abbey Road and the BBC studios, and I’ve been to those kinds of places, and I would say, pound for pound, if you’re gonna do rock and roll drums and guitars and basses, 606 is — you can make an argument for it being in the best room in the world.”
Carach Angren have premiered a new song titled “The Resurrection Of Kariba.” The track will appear on the band’s upcoming EP “The Cult Of Kariba.” That effort will be released on October 17 and it will continue the concept explored on the band’s 2008 album “Lammendam.” The following was said about the single:
“Plunge into the heart of the legend, where a clandestine cult gathers beneath a church to summon Kariba: a poisoner and alleged witch whose tragic past gave rise to vengeance beyond the grave.”
Narcotic Wasteland, the project featuring former Nile guitarist/vocalist Dallas Toler-Wade, will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Nile’s “Annihilation Of The Wicked” during their September U.S. tour. The band plan to perform tracks like “Lashed To The Slave Stick” and “The Burning Pits Of Duat” alongside their own material.

Cavalera (ex-Sepultura, etc.) have teamed up with Concept Cafes for a new espresso roast called “Espresso A.D.” Fans can purchase a limited edition tin HERE.
The following was said about the roast:
“Paying homage to the monumental and influential album, ‘Espresso A.D.’ is a limited edition signature espresso roast using specialty beans harvested in Max & Iggor’s home state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The coffee comes packed in collectible tins featuring all new original artwork that not only pays tribute to the original iconic album art, but also illustrates the current chaotic state of the world with the strong anthemic messaging of ‘REFUSE / RESIST’, that is never more apt than now.”
Concept Cafes Creator Mike Tonsetic also commented:
“Max actually came up with this concept during the last tour, as he we wanted to get everyone fueled up to go fkn crazy in the pit; we promised him we’d get it done, and well, here we are lol!…We actually went through revision after revision on this concept, as it was a hard one to get right in not only paying humbled respect to the original album’s artwork ‘Cacophony’ by Michael Whelan, but really embodying the heart and spirit of ‘Chaos A.D.’ We also wanted this legendary album’s messaging to be apparent in the concept, and relevant to current times. We incorporated a lot of elements from the album into this concept if you look close enough, and we also hope it will help empower people to refuse/ resist the evils in this world that are now more apparent than ever.”
Max Cavalera added:
“Before we bring the chaos to the stage, we drink the Blood Brothers’ Espresso to fire us up!! “
This news comes as Cavalera are preparing to perform Sepultura’s “Chaos A.D.” in full on a fall U.S. tour.
Better Lovers (ex-Every Time I Die, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan, etc.) have premiered a new video for their new song “Don’t Forget To Say Please.” You can check that out below:
During a recent interview with Double J, Tool singer Maynard James Keenan opened up about the changes within the music industry. According to him, modern music fans “aren’t really valuing the work that goes into putting together an actual collection of songs on an album.”
Keenan said the following:
“I mean everything [has changed.] Quite a bit’s changed. There used to be record labels. Now there’s like 2 left out of 500. People were willing to buy music. And there a sense, when you’re living in a small town — like I was — that there’s this work being done at the abandoned warehouse, where you’re plugging in, and almost electrocuting yourself because the wiring was faulty, and there’s rats everywhere, and like you’re in there gonna just truck, you just needed to make music.
And you’re kind of developing this thing, and play small clubs, and eventually you put together a vinyl and people pay for it… It was a long game, now it’s so immediate, and people are so used to getting free shipping on your Amazon packages and it comes… You order it today, but it came yesterday. That’s how fast people want it. So it’s hard. I think it’s changed to the point where people aren’t really valuing the work that goes into putting together an actual collection of songs on an album.
They cut corners. Touring is more difficult, because things are expensive. So it’s hard for a young band to crack that nut, to really get out there and have people learn about them, because that’s the best way to do it, is in front of people, right? And that’s, that’s how you make your living is touring now. It’s not the album sales, those are gone.”
