Rivers Of Nihil Part Ways With Vocalist Jake Dieffenbach

Rivers Of Nihil have parted ways with founding vocalist Jake Dieffenbach. Bassist/vocalist Adam Biggs will be handling his parts during the band’s upcoming live shows.

The group issued the following statement:

“We would like to inform our fans and colleagues alike that we’ve parted ways with Jake Dieffenbach. Jake was a founding member of Rivers Of Nihil, and our friend and brother beyond the scope of the band. While this decision wasn’t easy, it was necessary. We ask our friends and fans to allow Jake the space to handle his affairs with dignity and privacy.

The creative core of Rivers Of Nihil is still intact. Brody and Biggs will continue to be the main architects of the music and lyrics, as they have been from the start. Jared has been with us for 5 years and 2 albums already, and we’ve known Andy for so long it feels like he’s been in the band forever.

To that end, rather than bringing in anyone new, Biggs will be taking over lead vocals on the upcoming EU/UK ‘Faces Of Death’ tour, the recently-announced Northeast U.S. dates with Killswitch Engage, and beyond — as he did on the second half of our recent North American tour with The Contortionist — in addition to continuing his duties on bass.

Beyond touring, we have some exciting releases planned for the near future as well. Stay tuned for those announcements soon.”

Rivers Of Nihil issued the following statement:

“After nearly eight years of working together Rivers of Nihil has decided to part ways with guitarist Jonathan Topore. Like any relationship, sometimes it becomes clear that it is simply time for a change that will be in the best interest of everyone involved. We love Jon and we still consider him to be a great friend to all of us in the band.

With that being said, we would like to announce that our very old friend Andy Thomas from Black Crown Initiate (and ‘Where Owls Know My Name‘ guest vocal/music video/tambourine fame) will be stepping in for our upcoming headlining tour with Fallujah, Alluvial, and Warforged.

As a fellow Reading, PA area native Andy has been passively and actively involved with Rivers of Nihil since our inception and there is no other person that we trust more than him to take on this position.

We look forward to seeing all of you on tour.”

Rivers Of Nihil Premiere “The Void From Which No Sound Escapes” Music Video

Rivers Of Nihil have premiered a new video for their song “The Void From Which No Sound Escapes.” This track is from the band’s latest album “The Work.” Guitarist Brody Uttley commented:

“‘The Void From Which No Sound Escapes‘ is a song that was put together pretty early in the writing process for ‘The Work‘. It features some familiar sounds that people have come to expect from our band, while also highlighting some new sounds and textures that we’ve never experimented with before.”

Rivers Of Nihil Premiere “Focus” Music Video

Rivers Of Nihil have premiered a new video for their new song “Focus.” This track is from the band’s new album “The Work,” which will be released on September 24.

Brody Uttley commented:

“For the ‘Focus‘ video, we once again recruited Mr. David Brodsky, Allie Woest and the team at MyGoodEye. This video tells the story of an individual in a fractured state of mind confronting the darkest parts of his inner self and battling with a physical manifestation of his deepest fears and concerns; the worst parts of himself.

This manifestation represents the presence in all of our heads that tries to pull us down into the throes of self-destructive behavior and patterns of thinking. The creature that he is interacting with becomes more apparent as the video progresses (with the main character slipping deeper into psychosis) until the end when he loses his battle and is plunged down into the blackness once and for all; existing permanently in the prison that his delusions have constructed for him…Perhaps finally at peace, or just as likely: never again at peace.”

07. “MORE?”

Adam Biggs commented:

“What does life all really boil down to in the end? You can be lovey-dovey about the good times, and savor the sweetness that life sometimes provides, but beneath everything is work, struggle, someone is always getting a raw deal, someone’s always sweating it out in the mines somewhere so you can enjoy your diamonds.

This has always proved true in everything I’ve ever done in life. Most people reading this know me as a member of a successful band, but beneath it is constant work. Physical, emotional, spiritual work. All the time. Every day.

And I know that it’s like this across the board for just about anyone in at least some capacity, so I figured this subject would be relatable to a lot of people.

We always just sort of do this thing and it grows. I guess that could change at some point. But thinking about things that way doesn’t seem to get me anywhere either. Better to focus on the work in front of us, as it turns out. If we’ve learned anything for certain in the last year or so, it’s that the future can be murky, we’re not really owed anything, and it can all be taken away any second. But for now, we press on.”
