Nancy Wilson (Heart) Premieres “Walk Away” Video

Nancy Wilson (Heart) has premiered a new video for her song “Walk Away.” That track is from her recently released solo album “You And Me.” Wilson told Parade Magazine the following:

“When I put a plan together to film the home video for ‘Walk Away’ I wanted not to go too dark with the images. The song itself carries a somewhat painful message so I decided to bring shiny and sparkly reflections into the frame.”

Nancy Wilson (Heart) Premieres New Video For Her Cover Of Pearl Jam’s “Daughter”

Nancy Wilson (Heart) has premiered a new video for her cover of Pearl Jam’s “Daughter.” The track was originally recorded for Netflix’s “I Am All Girls” and it also appears on her solo album “You And Me.” Wilson commented:

“I initially recorded ‘Daughter’ for the film, a powerful story about sex trafficking in South Africa. I was drawn to the global tragedy of human trafficking and the lyrics sung from a women’s perspective also mirror the power of the girls’ untold stories. This film is a revelation and sheds meaning and light on these realities. Trafficking is a global phenomenon that impacts women around the world. I recorded this version as an anthem to them.”

Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters, Etc. Members To Guest On New Album From Heart’s Nancy Wilson

During a recent interview with Meltdown of Detroit’s WRIF, Nancy Wilson (Heart) offered some more details on her new solo album. She confirmed that the effort will be titled “You And Me” and that it will feature guest appearances from Sammy Hagar (ex-Van Halen), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), and Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters).

Wilson said the following:

“[The] title is ‘You And Me’. That’s a song on the album, called ‘You And Me’. And it just turned out really great. It’s a song my longtime collaborator friend Sue Ennis and [I] wrote together. We kind of blended two different songs that we had written about our moms, actually, and we made a new song out of it called ‘You And Me’. And it’s just so simple, I just thought, ‘Okay, well, that’s pretty easy to remember.'”

She continued when asked if the record features any special guests:

“I’ve got one song that I wrote with Duff McKagan and Taylor Hawkins. They had a jam that they shared with me, and I finished it. And it’s called ‘Party At The Angel Ballroom’. And actually, I covered [Simon & Garfunkel’s] ‘The Boxer’, which I did with Heart last year, with Sammy Hagar guesting on that. He’s a buddy. He sounds really good on that. I have this other big rocker. I said, ‘Do you wanna sing on this big rocker?’ And he’s, like, ‘It’s kind of expected. It would be a little less interesting.’ I said, ‘Okay. What about ‘The Boxer’?’ And he’s, like, ‘I love that song. I’ve loved that song forever.'”

She also revealed that the album will feature her cover of Pearl Jam’s “Daughter,” which she previously recorded for the South African film “I Am All Girls,” which shines a light on the issue of human trafficking:

“It’s a real story. It’s a really cool movie, and it should be in that too pretty soon.”

Wilson went on to say that making a solo album has been “really rewarding”:

“It’s fun for me to sort of take hold of the first studio solo album and do all the singing. Not that I consider myself a premier ballerina kind of a singer like Ann, but it’s really fun. I love it — I love trying to be the singer and doing the harmonies and playing all the parts, pretty much. My band guys, from Heart mainly, are passing around files, and we’re just taking notes and responding to the new parts that they put on. And it’s coming together really great.”
