Mercyful Fate, Emperor, Mayhem, Etc. Set For 2022 Psycho Las Vegas Festival

The first set of bands have been revealed for next year’s Psycho Las Vegas festival. The event will take place on August 19-21, 2022 and it will feature: Mercyful Fate, Emperor, Mayhem, Satyricon, Watain, Wolves In The Throne Room, Samael, Boris, MGLA, Cirith Ungol, King Woman, Marissa Nadler, Bombers, and Year Of No Light.

Mayhem Premiere “Black Glass Communion” Music Video

Mayhem have premiered a new video for their song “Black Glass Communion.” The group worked on the clip with filmmaker Zev Deans and it can be seen below. The track is from their latest EP “Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando.”

Deans commented:

“When approaching a metal music video, some might roll their eyes and think to themselves ‘how many times do I have to watch a satanic ritual sacrifice before I see something new?’

But for any true Satanist, ritual is an essential part of life that you must repeat again and again with the same sincerity and enthusiasm that you brought to your first time. The very nature of ritual is that it is repetitive, a mantra, a drone that is echoed through different bodies and different times.

In my approach to ‘Black Glass Communion‘, this truth was unwavering. Now, you must look deep into the depths of the black glass and see what emerges before you.”

Mayhem, Satyricon, & MGLA Drop Off 2021 Psycho Las Vegas Festival

Mayhem, Satyricon, and MGLA have been forced to drop off the 2021 Psycho Las Vegas festival due to travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The statuses of several other international artists are still pending as well. As previously reported, the festival is currently scheduled to take place at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV on August 20-22.

Organizers issued the following statement:

“Due to the ongoing international travel ban to the United States, the following artists have postponed their appearance to next year’s event and will not be performing this August: Mayhem, MGLA, and Satyricon.

All of these bands have approved visa petitions, but unfortunately their local embassies remain closed or prohibitively backlogged. These artists have been extremely cooperative and made monumental efforts to get here in August, but ultimately we will have to settle with welcoming them to the Psycho Las Vegas 2022 lineup.

Efforts are continuing for Emperor, Watain, Crippled Black Phoenix, Cult of Fire, and Psychlona, who have all petitioned to enter the United States under the National Interest Exception. Please understand that it is unlikely that they will be able to achieve this exception, despite our best efforts.

At this time the request has been made by our United States Congressmen and women, and we are just waiting for the final decision from the different European embassies involved in this matter. The odds are against us, in fact no artist from the Schengen Area has received this exception, but we’re not ready to fold – we’re waiting to see the river.

If the removal of any of the aforementioned bands from this year’s lineup would prompt you to request a refund, we suggest that you do so now. Refunds for all ticket types and tiers are available through a simple online process in your AXS account.

You (or the person who purchased your tickets) will receive an email from AXS with instructions on how to do this. This option is available until 11:59pm on August 5th. If you would like to request a refund after August 5th, you can do so manually by emailing MBTickets@MandalayBay.com.

Regardless of what happens with the foreign bands, we’re adding some Psycho favorites to the lineup this week. Stay tuned, we’ll be announcing the new additions along with set times soon.

Hellfest organizers commented:

“Hellbangers,

What can we say except that we are proud (and excited) to finally unveil the long-awaited line up of our anniversary edition! Keeping such a line up as a secret for several weeks has been no easy task, especially in the last few days…

It’s been more than 16 months since our work rhythm was turned upside down by the arrival of this virus, since the live music industry was extinguished. Despite this, our confidence has never been affected and we have kept working with a positive mindset.

The frustration of two years without a festival has led us to dream even bigger about our reunion! In 2022, we are offering a new and unique format spread over 10 days! Never done before, this formula will, without a doubt, remain in the history of so-called “extreme” music! Twice as historic, because this formula is meant to exist only in 2022 and will not happen again in the years to come.

After a first weekend from 17 to 19th June 2022, we double the fun with an additional weekend from 23rd to 26th June! A real marathon that will see no less than 350 artists on 6 stages!

As usual, the festival does not deviate from its principles: you will see artists capable of performing in stadiums, with artists who are usually playing in smaller venues, and for some even in pub caves. Punk, Heavy, Black, Hardcore, Death, Stoner, Pagan, Power, we have done our best to put together what we believe to be the “edition of the century”.

No need to list the program in detail as you are not, and for the second year, headbanging at the festival right now. You can find out all this by yourself, at home or with your friends, enjoying our virtual edition “Hellfest From Home“! (More information over here : fromhome.hellfest.fr)

This exceptional edition is also an opportunity for us to thank the pass holders who have been waiting for more than 2 years. Your loyalty and trust have kept us going and we do not have enough words to thank you. It seemed fair to us that you should access the ticket sale 24 hours before the public sale in order for you to obtain your ticket for sure.

We are aware that some of you, for professional, family or simply financial reasons, will not be able to attend this XXL edition. By going through (and only through!) our partner TICKETSWAP (please stop Viagogo and others…), you will be able to resell your pass for the weekend you are the least interested in, and thus make one more happy fan!

For all the others who will have the chance to live these 10 days of anthology with us, we promise that you will remember our reunion! As a bonus, we might even make you a nice “FINISHER” t-shirt so that this moment will remain engraved forever in your memories. Once in a lifetime celebration!

Last but not least, we could not finish without thanking all those who have supported us during these last months. Volunteers, intermittents, sponsors, service providers, media partners, people from Clisson, we are all eager to see you again and to live with you this future adventure, which promises to be historic!

Stay Strong. Stay Safe.

Mayhem To Release “Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando” EP In July

Mayhem will be releasing a new EP titled “Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando” on July 9 (vinyl out September 10). The effort will feature bonus material from the “Daemon” sessions and various covers.

“Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando” Track Listing:

01. “Voces Ab Alta”
02. “Black Glass Communion”
03. “Everlasting Dying Flame”
04. “In Defense Of Our Future” (Discharge cover)
05. “Hellnation” (Dead Kennedys cover)
06. “Only Death” (Rudimentary Peni cover)
07. “Commando” (Ramones cover)

Attila Csihar commented:

“I always had some punk influences. I guess it comes from my childhood when we were constantly looking for more extreme music. That’s how I discovered Dead Kennedys, GBH, The Exploited, Sex Pistols, U.K. Subs, Discharge, Rudimentary Peni and so on, in the early 80’s, alongside heavy metal. But then I discovered Venom, that was a game changer!”

Necrobutcher added:

“We had some extra time in the studio recording the ‘Daemon‘ album two years ago, all band members were asked to punch in two cover tracks for some extra material. I chose songs by Deathstrike (‘The Truth‘) and Death (‘Evil Dead‘), which were both used as the bonus tracks on the album.

My other contribution was to bring in two old members because of their obvious connection with punk: Maniac on the Dead Kennedys track and Billy (Messiah) on the Discharge track and some of the others.”

Mayhem Postpone European/UK Tour With Mortiis Once Again

Mayhem have postponed their European/UK tour with Mortiis once again due to the coronavirus pandemic. The band issued the following statement:

“While it surely will come as no surprise to anyone, we are yet again forced to postpone the European tour. We would have hoped to release new dates at this time as well, but we are still working on it and will announce them as soon as we possibly can. Hails to our fans for your support through these weird times. We hope to see you all soon again!”
