Watain Drop Off North American Tour With Mayhem & Midnight

Watain will no longer be joining Mayhem and Midnight on their spring North American tour. The band were forced to drop off the trek due to visa issues.

Watain issued the following statement:

“We regret to inform you all that, due to reasons entirely beyond our control, we’re forced to cancel our participation in the upcoming US Tour with Mayhem and Midnight, for which we were due to leave tomorrow.

We have just been informed that the US Embassy have decided to launch an additional, undisclosed “administrative process” in relation to Watain‘s visa applications. We’ve been told that this investigation could go on for months and that we might not get a reply until the tour is over. Since we have not been given any additional information about why this is taking place, how long it’ll take, or if visas will eventually be approved, it leaves us with no choice but to pull out of the tour.

The same embassy has previously approved our working visa applications for every US tour, each of the 8 times we have applied.

Preparing for a tour like this takes an enormous amount of work by the band and our crew. The merch has been produced, ticket buyers have made plans, and the crew relies on the jobs that the tour provides. It is a devastating blow to any band, but to the authorities in charge it seems to hold no significance.

To our loyal fans and followers; we had truly been looking forward to stand before you all again. We invested all we had for this one.

We are working hard on setting things straight and our intention is to re-schedule the North American dates for early 2023. Refunds are available at point of purchase.

Finally, we wish Mayhem and Midnight a killer tour regardless.
/Watain“

Mayhem Premiere “Black Glass Communion” Music Video

Mayhem have premiered a new video for their song “Black Glass Communion.” The group worked on the clip with filmmaker Zev Deans and it can be seen below. The track is from their latest EP “Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando.”

Deans commented:

“When approaching a metal music video, some might roll their eyes and think to themselves ‘how many times do I have to watch a satanic ritual sacrifice before I see something new?’

But for any true Satanist, ritual is an essential part of life that you must repeat again and again with the same sincerity and enthusiasm that you brought to your first time. The very nature of ritual is that it is repetitive, a mantra, a drone that is echoed through different bodies and different times.

In my approach to ‘Black Glass Communion‘, this truth was unwavering. Now, you must look deep into the depths of the black glass and see what emerges before you.”

Mayhem, Satyricon, & MGLA Drop Off 2021 Psycho Las Vegas Festival

Mayhem, Satyricon, and MGLA have been forced to drop off the 2021 Psycho Las Vegas festival due to travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The statuses of several other international artists are still pending as well. As previously reported, the festival is currently scheduled to take place at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV on August 20-22.

Organizers issued the following statement:

“Due to the ongoing international travel ban to the United States, the following artists have postponed their appearance to next year’s event and will not be performing this August: Mayhem, MGLA, and Satyricon.

All of these bands have approved visa petitions, but unfortunately their local embassies remain closed or prohibitively backlogged. These artists have been extremely cooperative and made monumental efforts to get here in August, but ultimately we will have to settle with welcoming them to the Psycho Las Vegas 2022 lineup.

Efforts are continuing for Emperor, Watain, Crippled Black Phoenix, Cult of Fire, and Psychlona, who have all petitioned to enter the United States under the National Interest Exception. Please understand that it is unlikely that they will be able to achieve this exception, despite our best efforts.

At this time the request has been made by our United States Congressmen and women, and we are just waiting for the final decision from the different European embassies involved in this matter. The odds are against us, in fact no artist from the Schengen Area has received this exception, but we’re not ready to fold – we’re waiting to see the river.

If the removal of any of the aforementioned bands from this year’s lineup would prompt you to request a refund, we suggest that you do so now. Refunds for all ticket types and tiers are available through a simple online process in your AXS account.

You (or the person who purchased your tickets) will receive an email from AXS with instructions on how to do this. This option is available until 11:59pm on August 5th. If you would like to request a refund after August 5th, you can do so manually by emailing MBTickets@MandalayBay.com.

Regardless of what happens with the foreign bands, we’re adding some Psycho favorites to the lineup this week. Stay tuned, we’ll be announcing the new additions along with set times soon.
