Hellfest organizers commented:

“Hellbangers,

What can we say except that we are proud (and excited) to finally unveil the long-awaited line up of our anniversary edition! Keeping such a line up as a secret for several weeks has been no easy task, especially in the last few days…

It’s been more than 16 months since our work rhythm was turned upside down by the arrival of this virus, since the live music industry was extinguished. Despite this, our confidence has never been affected and we have kept working with a positive mindset.

The frustration of two years without a festival has led us to dream even bigger about our reunion! In 2022, we are offering a new and unique format spread over 10 days! Never done before, this formula will, without a doubt, remain in the history of so-called “extreme” music! Twice as historic, because this formula is meant to exist only in 2022 and will not happen again in the years to come.

After a first weekend from 17 to 19th June 2022, we double the fun with an additional weekend from 23rd to 26th June! A real marathon that will see no less than 350 artists on 6 stages!

As usual, the festival does not deviate from its principles: you will see artists capable of performing in stadiums, with artists who are usually playing in smaller venues, and for some even in pub caves. Punk, Heavy, Black, Hardcore, Death, Stoner, Pagan, Power, we have done our best to put together what we believe to be the “edition of the century”.

No need to list the program in detail as you are not, and for the second year, headbanging at the festival right now. You can find out all this by yourself, at home or with your friends, enjoying our virtual edition “Hellfest From Home“! (More information over here : fromhome.hellfest.fr)

This exceptional edition is also an opportunity for us to thank the pass holders who have been waiting for more than 2 years. Your loyalty and trust have kept us going and we do not have enough words to thank you. It seemed fair to us that you should access the ticket sale 24 hours before the public sale in order for you to obtain your ticket for sure.

We are aware that some of you, for professional, family or simply financial reasons, will not be able to attend this XXL edition. By going through (and only through!) our partner TICKETSWAP (please stop Viagogo and others…), you will be able to resell your pass for the weekend you are the least interested in, and thus make one more happy fan!

For all the others who will have the chance to live these 10 days of anthology with us, we promise that you will remember our reunion! As a bonus, we might even make you a nice “FINISHER” t-shirt so that this moment will remain engraved forever in your memories. Once in a lifetime celebration!

Last but not least, we could not finish without thanking all those who have supported us during these last months. Volunteers, intermittents, sponsors, service providers, media partners, people from Clisson, we are all eager to see you again and to live with you this future adventure, which promises to be historic!

Stay Strong. Stay Safe.

Magnus “Devo” Andersson Exits Marduk

Magnus “Devo” Andersson has announced his departure from Marduk. The bassist commented:

“After a total of 17 years in Marduk, 70 countries and almost 900 gigs, I decided to leave the band. I intend to concentrate more on the studio. I therefore wish the other members of Marduk good luck in the future.”

Marduk Banned From Entering Guatemala

According to Billboard, Marduk have been banned from Guatemala due to their Satanic beliefs. The ban was put in place after lawmakers voted on it 87 to 13. The group were supposed to perform in the country on October 11.

This isn’t the only time Marduk have ran into problems either. The band’s February 2017 show in Oakland, CA was cancelled after allegations of racism surfaced.

The group were also unable to perform in Poland back in May due to the venue getting sabotaged.

Furthermore, reports filed earlier this year also alleged that members of the band had purchased Nazi propaganda.

Marduk’s Show In Rzeszow, Poland Was Cancelled After The Venue Was Sabotaged Following Political Pressure

Marduk‘s show at the Life House club in Rzeszow, POL was cancelled earlier this week after the venue was apparently sabotaged. The Polish conservative Christian political party PiS were trying to stop the concert, because they said it was “promoting satanic content.” The club refused to cave in to the pressure, and this led someone to break in and steal a water meter and pipe to cut off their running water. A local media report says the venue then tried getting portable toilets, washbasins, and a fire fighting water tank so the show could go on, but local authorities would not allow it.

Marduk‘s booking agency Massive Music commented (translated from Polish):

“Something unusual happened. From the beginning of the announcement of the concert concert in rzeszow, they were on us and the pressure club to cancel this concert. The situation was definitely over yesterday and today. The Club, only today, had police control, fire department, and sanitation. On yesterday’s “unknown” Perp broke into the club, cut out a part of the pipe with wodomierzem, cutting off the club from running water.

On this basis, the health department has halted the activities of the life house club (until it is restored to the current water club) Coincidence? The Club did everything for the concert to take place (he ordered portable toilets, sinks, a fire tank, and even in case a aggregate generator). Unfortunately, the strength of political pressure and offices has proved too large. We regret to cancel tonight’s concert even though the teams are in rzeszow and the stage is ready.

There has never been such pressure in our history, letters from lawyers and control. We were also not able to move the concert to another place, because the checks appeared only today, on the day of the concert, and other clubs in the city did not talk to us or fear the risks.

Purchased collector tickets can be returned at sales points. Tickets from the network network can be returned after a long weekend as soon as the disposition returns.”

Behemoth’s Nergal, who is a Poland native, also commented:

“Unfortunatelly they succeded. Marduk concert in Rzeszów got cancelled. How far you will go to protect your one and only truth? How long you will keep on violating our freedom? What it will take for you to realize that NONE of your fascist ways will break our spirit?

Do I sound pathetic? Exagerated? Reactive?Try to live free life in the country full of blind sheep led by conservative, stubborn, shameful lowlives.”

This isn’t the only controversy surrounding Marduk as of late. The band have also faced allegations of Nazism in the past, and those accusations have surfaced again after recent reports said two members purchased Nazi propaganda back in 2016, though they have since denied those claims. The group also played a concert in Stockholm, Sweden with Taake, who have also been facing allegations of Nazism. Marduk said the following about that show:

“On April 29, despite the outraged bleating from the enemies of black metal, Marduk Official and Taake (Official) performed in a sold-out Stockholm venue. Both bands wish to thank the Stockholm Slaughter promoter, Vlad of Death Disco Productions, for going above and beyond in the face of overwhelming adversity. But above all, our heartfelt gratitude to you – the fans – whose unwavering support ultimately made this a highly worthwhile experience, not to mention at all possible.

Let this little escapade serve as a reminder of how outside interference in black metal matters should be approached: unity in defiance, with neither apology nor compromise.”
