Alain Johannes Shares New Song “Free” And Cover Of Chris Cornell’s “Can’t Change Me”

Alain Johannes (Eleven, etc.) has premiered a new song titled “Free.” This track is from his new album “Hum,“ which will be released on July 31.

In other news, Johannes has also paid tribute to the late Chris Cornell with a cover of “Can’t Change Me.“ The musician and his late wife Natasha Shneider co-produced Cornell’s “Euphoria Morning” and both of them appeared on the original version of “Can’t Change Me.” Johannes said the following about that:

“It’s really meaningful for me to present this tribute. I lived ‘Euphoria Morning‘ with Chris and Natasha and now with my musical brothers in Chile, the country where I was born, so we are excited to revisit this music 21 years later. I feel very proud of what we’ve accomplished.”

Big Scenic Nowhere, a new project led by Bob Balch (Fu Manchu) and Gary Arce (Yawning Man), will be releasing a new two-song EP titled “Dying On The Mountain” on September 13. The effort was recorded with a number of other musicians including: Nick Oliveri (Mondo Generator, ex-Queens Of The Stone Age, ex-Kyuss), Per Wiberg (Spiritual Beggars, ex-Opeth), Alain Johannes, Thomas V. Jäger (Monolord), Mario Lalli (Fatso Jetson, Yawning Man), etc. The title track, which is over 20 minutes long, will appear on the a-side and “Towards The Sun” will appear on the b-side. Eagle Of Death Metal recently announced their “Play It Forward” campaign, which was created to get other artists to cover “I Love You All The Time” to benefit the victims of the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris, France. So far, the following artists have contributed: Florence + The Machine (with The Maccabees), Kings Of Leon, Imagine Dragons, Ed Harcourt, Jimmy Eat World, Alain Johannes, My Morning Jacket, Mini Mansions, Savages, Sinner Sinners, The New Pacific, The Dean Ween Group, and r00ms.
