Members of Papa Roach recently offered their choices for the best nü-metal song in a new video. Among the tracks mentioned were their own “Last Resort,” Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff,” Korn’s “Blind,” and Deftones’ “My Own Summer (Shove It).”
The musicians said the following:
Singer Jacoby Shaddix:
“I’d be biased and say ‘Last Resort’ by Papa Roach, but I’ll give it to Limp Bizkit ‘Break Stuff.‘”
Bassist Tobin Esperance:
“I dont know. Probably like ‘Blind’ or something, Korn. The first time I heard that opening intro to ‘Blind’ I was like, ‘Oh shit, this is something that I haven’t heard before.’”
Drummer Tony Palermo:
“I know Deftones don’t like to be coined as nü-metal, but ‘Shove It‘ is up there.”
During Nine Inch Nails’ March 6 show at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, AZ, Trent Reznor had to stop their performance after a fight broke out in the audience. The frontman called out the offending fans and they were removed by security. You can see fan-filmed footage of the incident below:

Townsend commented:
“[‘The Moth’ is] a loose story following someone who realises that old patterns of behaviour are no longer serving them. By digging in and sitting with themselves, an internal conflict is revealed, one they may have been resisting or unconsciously rationalizing for years.”
He also added:
“The most obvious metaphor for change within the concept of this project was a moth: from caterpillar to an entirely different creature—one so drawn to the light that it burns itself away. What remains is immutable—only the spirit.”
More info was also shared in a press release:
“‘The Moth’ constitutes 3 distinct parts across its release. In addition to the main album, ‘The Moth – The Afterlife’ highlights the grandeur of the orchestra & choir, in what might be considered a more pure version of ‘The Moth’ experience. ‘The Moth – The War’ is a recording of the live musical debut that took place in March 2025 in The Netherlands, showcasing the raw emotion of performing ‘The Moth’ for the very first time.”
“At the hardest moments, when abandoning the project might have seemed rational, Townsend points to the team as the decisive factor. A host of incredible musicians and contributors participated throughout the course of this process, as well as the North Netherlands Orchestra & Choir and orchestrators Joseph Stevenson & Niels Bye Nielsen. Long time band members Darby Todd, Mike Keneally, James Leach played a huge part, as well as guests including the Steve Vai, Anneke van Giersbergen, Lynn Wu (Ou), and artists Travis Smith & Eliran Kantor, plus key creative consultation from Mike St-Jean. The technical teams that worked tirelessly included co-mixer Chris Edrich, recording engineers Ben Searles & Jacob Hermann, Atmos mixer Ron Searles, Mastering engineer Troy Glessner, choirs in various countries throughout the world, and peripheral individuals that helped land this behemoth of a plane.”

Koyo have premiered a new video for their new song “What I’m Worth.” This track is from their new album, “Barely Here,” which will be released on May 8.
Melvins and Napalm Death are streaming “Rip The God” from their new collaborative album “Savage Imperial Death March.” That effort will be released on April 10. Napalm Death bassist/vocalist Shane Embury had the following to say about the single:
“The opening Buzz [Osborne, Melvins vocalist/guitarist] riff begins with that classic timing – a hiccup right at the end of the riff cycle making the riff extra special! Simple yet tricky to remember… it had my head spinning when I played the bass to it – Multiply that head spin with the guitar pedal noise static we all added – God was ripped and drunk on joyful noise…”
