From Ashes To New have premiered a new song titled “Drag Me.” Vocalist Matt Brandyberry commented:
“We wanted to create a song about feeling trapped in a war with yourself, when your inner demons pull harder than your better intentions can pus. Every good thought gets buried beneath the bad and you start to realize the real fight isn’t against the world, it’s against the reflection staring back at you. ‘Drag Me’ came from that place…the feeling of being pulled straight into hell by the parts of yourself you could never escape.”

Varials Premiere “Where The Light Leaves” Music Video
Varials have shared an official video for the title track of their new album “Where The Light Leaves.” That effort will be released on February 27. Vocalist Skyler Conder had the following to say about the single:
“‘Where The Light Leaves’ is the key introduction to the overall idea of the album itself. Through many emotions in my life, I found myself always feeling trapped within my mind, in a sense of purgatory and as if my mental state was a nightmare. The video and song are meant to elaborate, lyrically and visually, what it feels like being stuck there and unable to leave — eventually just accepting it and learning to live with it.”

Jagged City’s Spotify Upload Of “Imaginary Lines” Is A PSA Against The Streaming Service
Jagged City (Defeater, etc.) have released a new song titled “Imaginary Lines.” However, fans hoping to hear it on Spotify may be out of luck. The version uploaded to the streaming service actually serves as a PSA against them.
The following was said on the Spotify stream:
“This is a public service announcement from Jagged City. Due to their investment in AI weapons, extremely low artist payouts, and promotion of completely non-human made songs, this track will not be available on this platform. We encourage you to buy our music from our label, Pelagic Records, from our band at shows, from Bandcamp, or listen on another less compromised streaming service.”
The actual song can be found below. It will also appear on Jagged City’s new EP, “There Are More Of Us, Always,“ which will be released on January 30. Guitarist Jake Woodruff said the following about the single:
“‘Imaginary Lines‘ is a meditation on how all lines are imaginary – all borders are fake, all classifications are arbitrary, all divisions aren’t real. We are all connected, and any line made by force and power is a denial of that. Musically, this is the first full song on the record, and Urian nailed the groove – it feels natural, even though it’s in 5. I love how the chime-like guitar and fuzzed-out bass tones came together with the drum groove to form a cohesive, intimate, natural-sounding song.”
