    “I’m beyond excited to present to you ‘Your Black Heart.’ The song is about being in love with someone who you know is super toxic for you. You want the very best for the relationship and want it to work so badly. However, all your efforts seem to fail miserably. You would give anything to revive the relationship even sticking around during the worst of times. Overall the song is about personal growth and strength. I wanted to write about topics that I faced in my life and came out on the other end a stronger, more confident person. Learning how to control your emotions and gain a sense of patience is pivotal in making life decisions and making a relationship work.”

    Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) is among the nominees for this year’s edition of The Speaker Awards. The frontman is up for “Best Live Speaker,” “Best Motivational Speaker,” and “Best Storyteller.” The ceremony will take place at the Leonardo Royal London St Paul’s in London, UK on July 3.   • Bret Michaels Pulls Out Of “Freedom 250” Concert

    Poison singer Bret Michaels has pulled out of the “Freedom 250” concert series at the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C. The frontman joins a number of other artists who withdrew from the event due to its connections to the Trump administration.

    Michaels commented:

    “Hello to all my awesome friends & fans,

    I wanted to jump on here real quick and talk about the upcoming Freedom 250 event in Washington, D.C.

    When this opportunity was originally presented to my team, it was described as a celebration of our country through music and a chance to honor our veterans, active military, first responders, teachers and hardworking Americans from all walks of life. As the son of a veteran, and coming from a family that has proudly served, that is something I have always been honored to support.

    As many of you know, I’ve spent my entire career bringing people together through music, positivity and good vibes. My shows have never been about politics. They’re about giving people a place to come together, have a great time and forget about life’s stresses for a few hours.

    Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of. Concerns have also been raised regarding the safety of my fans, band, crew, family and myself, including threats that are completely unfounded and unforgivable.

    Because of that, I have made the difficult decision to step away from this performance.

    This isn’t about politics. It’s about staying true to what I’ve always believed in. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. That’s one of the freedoms our veterans fought for and something I’ve always respected. But as a father, friend and bandmate, I have to take threats and safety concerns seriously.

    I believe in our country, in the freedoms we’re afforded, and in the idea that for over 250 years we have gone through both highs and lows together and remained resilient. Music is a universal language that unites us, not divides us. Just like it did when I entertained a record-breaking crowd of over 100,000 at the St. Louis Arch for an Independence Day celebration with people from across the country who came together to honor our freedoms through music. The focus was on the music, the fans and celebrating together.

    I will continue to proudly support our veterans, active military members, teachers, first responders and the organizations that serve them, just as I always have.

    I also want my amazing fans in Washington, D.C. to know that I love you all, and I fully intend to come back and perform in our nation’s capital under circumstances where the focus can remain on what it should be – the music and the fans.

    In the meantime, we’ll keep the Live & Amplified Tour rocking, and I look forward to seeing all of you out on the road soon.

  • Future Palace Premiere “Resurge” Music Video

    Future Palace have premiered a new video for their new song “Resurge.” You can check that out below. The track is from their new album, “Resurgence,” which will be released on July 31.

    Guitarist Manuel Kohlert commented:

    “Musically, ‘Resurge’ felt very nu metal right from the start when writing it. So you can call it another experiment since we didn’t do that kind of music yet. Sidenote: When writing the instrumental I had a Japanese video game in mind, which I really liked as a kid, the soundtrack was also phenomenal. It is called ‘Solatorobo.’”

    Vocalist Maria Lessing added:

    “This song is about doubting everything and every decision you’ve made so far in your life. Thinking about what it would be like if you would completely restart and be a totally different person — but also sacrifice everything and everyone you have in your life currently. It’s supposed to convey deep despair and self-doubt. What would life be like, if you were reborn today?

    It also picks up the music video story from our previous release ‘Deep Blue.’ At the end of the video, the crew of the submarine gets lost in the ocean, after the submarine sank. Their old friend, the siren, which attacked them because of a misunderstanding, welcomes them again in a new world, but the submarine crew has to sacrifice their human form to survive and become a new creature.

    Musically, this song a strong nu metal energy, which has a nostalgic, but also modern feeling to it. It’s supposed to catch you but also portray the despair of the message, which I find the chorus represents best.”

  • Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello And System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian Premiere “Adjourn It” Music Video

    Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello has premiered a new video for his new song “Adjourn It.” Notably, that track also features his son Roman and System Of A Down singer Serj Tankian.

    Morello previously commented:

    “[It’s inspired by] the persecution of immigrants across the land and the counterforce of a heroic resistance to the rising tide of fascism. ‘Adjourn It’ is a ‘Freedom Song’ of crushing riffs for justice and equality.”

    The following was also said about the video:

    “Clips from the film ‘SALT OF THE EARTH’ (1954) are woven throughout the ‘ADJOURN IT’ video to reflect the song’s theme of resistance in the face of prejudice and injustice. The film is based on a true story of Mexican-American miners fighting against labor exploitation, racism, and institutional oppression, and was made by three Hollywood executives blacklisted for their political beliefs.

    It stars real zinc miners and was one of the first ever truly independent films. ‘SALT OF THE EARTH’ was a powerful act of defiance in its time and more than half a century later, its themes continue to echo through today’s political climate. ‘ADJOURN IT’ channels the defiant legacy of the film reinforcing the importance of solidarity in bringing people together against fear and division.”
