Converge Share “Coil” From “Bloodmoon: I” Album With Chelsea Wolfe & Stephen Brodsky (Cave In)

Converge have shared a new song, titled “Coil,” from their “Bloodmoon” project with Stephen Brodsky (Cave In), Chelsea Wolfe, and Wolfe’s guitarist Ben Chisholm. This track is from their new album, “Bloodmoon: I,” which will be released on November 19 (vinyl out June 24). Converge vocalist Jacob Bannon commented:

“‘Coil‘ turned out to be one of my favorite songs I’ve ever been a part of. There is an infectious slow build that ends up becoming theatrical in tone. Lyrically it was a true collaboration, with all of us expanding on each other’s ideas as they came to be. I believe Chelsea’s vocal was the starting point in that for this one. Kurt really pushed vocal harmonies to a new level as well. Encouraging many of Steve’s ideas while we were in the studio tracking together. This one really has everyone of us firing on all cylinders creatively.”

Alcest Share Ben Chisholm Remix Of “Protection”

Alcest have shared a new version of their song “Protection.” This version was remixed by Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe) and it can be streamed below:

Alcest‘s Neige commented:

“It was a real pleasure for us to have ‘Protection‘ remixed by the multi-instrumentist and producer Ben Chisholm (known for being the close collaborator of Chelsea Wolfe). His take on the song left us speechless as he gave it his very own style; a totally new sound, atmosphere and structure. We absolutely loved his approach.”

Chisholm added:

“It was an honor to be invited to reimagine ‘Protection‘. The melodies and changes are so strong, it was a pleasure to work with. I have the utmost respect for Alcest, so it’s really special to be connected to their legacy, and especially to this fantastic album.”

Converge Working On “Blood Moon” Album With Cave In’s Stephen Brodsky & Chelsea Wolfe

During an appearance on the Lead Singer Syndrome podcast, Stephen Brodsky (Cave In, etc.) revealed that Converge are working on a new album with their “Blood Moon” lineup. That project, which also featured Brodsky, Chelsea Wolfe, and Wolfe’s guitarist Ben Chisholm, previously performed live in 2016.

Brodsky said the following:

“Next year, Converge actually is gonna be doing some stuff with ‘Blood Moon‘—which is really exciting, because ‘Blood Moon‘ is this project that they did a few years ago where they went out and toured with some additional members; myself, Cheslea Wolfe and Ben [Chisholm] from Chelsea‘s band.

And we went out and did all the sort of bastard child songs, like all the deep cuts from Converge records that sound like studio experiments or stuff that they weren’t able to pull off live because they wanted more members onstage to really do the songs justice.

And that experiment went really well and the idea was like ‘well, hey why don’t we write some stuff for this lineup and put out a record?’ So three years later we’re actually getting together and doing it. So that’s supposed to come together next year. That’s pretty exciting to me.

I can tell ya, we’ve already done some writing for it and the material we’ve come up for it is really, really cool. Definitely a next step for Converge and I’m really psyched to be a part of it.”
