Matt Pike (High On Fire, Sleep) To Release “Head On A Pike: The Illustrated Lyrics Of Matt Pike”

Matt Pike (High On Fire, Sleep) will be releasing a new book titled “Head On A Pike: The Illustrated Lyrics Of Matt Pike” on November 9 via Rare Bird. The effort will feature visual representations of Pike‘s lyrics from artists such as Arik Roper, David V. D’Andrea, Santos, Brian Mercer, Skinner, Jondix, Stash, Tim Lehi, Jordan Barlow, and Derrick Snodgrass. Rare Bird’s Tyson Cornell commented:

“Matt Pike’s lyrics are just as important and powerful as his riffs, and his words deserve to be celebrated alongside the fantastic imagery that the artists have put together in this book. ‘Head On A Pike‘ is a natural for any Sleep, High On Fire or Matt Pike fan, but the work is also relevant to greater conversations around lyrical poetry, formal and free verse and tattoo inspirations for years to come.”

Hjelvik (ex-Kvelertak) has released an uncensored version of his video for “Glory Of Hel.“ You can check that out below. “Glory Of Hel“ features Matt Pike (High On Fire, Sleep) and it will appear on Hjelvik’s new album “Welcome To Hel,” which is set to be released on November 20. Hjelvik previously commented:

“I’m excited to finally unveil ‘Glory Of Hel‘ in all its…glory! It’s one of the hardest rocking tracks from ‘Welcome To Hel‘ and is visited by the mythical Matt Pike (High On Fire & Sleep) who lends his killer voice and face melting guitar solo. To top that off, there’s a badass animated music video created by the disgustingly talented Adam Avilla. The video depicts a twisted take on the death of Odin’s son Balder and the ensuing events of Ragnarok with an animation style reminiscent of cult classics like ‘Heavy Metal‘ and ‘Fire and Ice‘. Thanks to both Matt and Adam for their amazing contributions and I hope people love it!”
