BREACH (Comeback Kid, etc.) have premiered a new song titled “COLD.” This track is from their new self-titled EP, which will be released on October 30.
The band commented:
“The tragedy is that sometimes a person who spends their entire childhood being hurt becomes so consumed by that pain that they begin to pass it on. They project their anger, their fear, their hatred, and their tortured sense of self onto someone else.
The cycle continues and suddenly the victim becomes the one causing the damage. ‘COLD‘ is about confronting that cycle. About the terrifying realization that being hurt doesn’t make you incapable of hurting others. You have to open yourself up to understanding that pain. And that, at some point, you have to decide whether you’re going to carry the pain you were given, or finally put it down before it becomes someone else’s.”
Earlier today (September 30), Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi was recognized as an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) at Windsor Castle. The guitarist was honored for his music and charity work.
Parkway Drive’s new live film, “HOME,” is set to premiere during a black tie event at the State Theatre in Sydney, Australia on November 10. That effort features the group’s June 9, 2025 orchestral show at the Sydney Opera House. The event will include a screening and Q&A with the band. A wide release is planned as well. Rev3rent have shared a lyric video for their new song “Lacerations And The Feeling Of Dying.” This track is from the band’s new album, “She Let The World Run Rampant,” which will be released on October 30.
The L.I.F.E. Project, the band featuring Josh Rand (Stone Sour) and Casandra Carson (Paralandra), have released a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.” You can check that out below:
Rand commented:
“Like ‘Call Me’, we never planned to release ‘Immigrant Song’. In 2019, we moved into a new house, with a new home studio. Really, the music was all put together with me just messing around with the vintage gear I had. Once I started working with Casandra, I asked her if she wanted to take a shot at this for the fun of it.”
Carson added:
“Ironically, the first time I remember hearing ‘Immigrant Song’ was in ‘Shrek The Third.’ Haha!! The second I heard Snow White sing that Viking war cry, my soul and my senses lit up like I’d been struck by lightning. My dad told me it was a song by Led Zeppelin, and I became as obsessed as a kid who just tried chocolate for the first time. I couldn’t get enough. Years later, when I started performing in bands, ‘Immigrant Song’ remained at the top of my list of songs I wanted to cover. It was only fitting that I would suggest it to Josh, as well, when we first began working together. I guess now I’ll have to watch ‘Shrek The Third’ again to celebrate our new release.”
Wolves In The Throne Room have shared a video for the title track of their new album “Estuary.” That effort will be released on October 23. Vocalist/guitarist Nathan Weaver previously commented:
“Our new LP ‘Estuary’ is set 1000 years in the future after the end of civilization. Survivors of a cataclysm wander the haunted ruins. It is a world of mutant creatures and open portals. Post-apocalyptic religion takes form in a wild landscape. If wilderness overcame the cities in the future, the estuaries would be realms of power and magic. Within the album’s world-building, the estuaries are key nexus points where magic has taken on physical form. Spirits good and evil walk the earth.”
Hatebreed have premiered a new video for their new song “The Carrion Choir.” You can check out that clip below. The track is from the band’s new album, “Fatal Paradox,” which will be released on November 6.
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has shared an animated video for his new song “Stormwatcher.” The track will appear on his upcoming solo album “From The Dark.” That effort will be released on October 23 and it will feature singer Jørn Lande (ex-Masterplan), bassist Becky Baldwin (Mercyful Fate), and drummer Karl Brazil (James Blunt, Robbie Williams). Lande commented on the single:
“It channels something from within, something real. We are the captain of our own vessel, a ship crashing through unknown and sometimes challenging waters, always navigating forward, steering steady through every storm, driven by dreams of new horizons and longing for something new.”
P.O.D. have recruited Norma Jean vocalist Cory Brandan for a new song titled “Outbreak.” You can find a video for that track below:
Vocalist Sonny Sandoval says the collaboration came about following a 2024 tour with Norma Jean:
“We have known the band and members for a while, but that was the first time we toured together and really got the chance to bond as friends.
This is possibly one of the heaviest songs P.O.D. has ever written, so we wanted to showcase a guest vocalist who reflected that. Cory’s voice and tone bring a specific intensity and command that draws you in. Our voices together deliver an authoritative energy that matches the power of the song.”
Guitarist Marcos Curiel also chimed in:
“As avid fans of zombie apocalypse, video games, and movies, it seemed only fitting to compose a song about this topic. The song delicately straddles the line between nonfiction and fiction. It’s fun yet hard-hitting, bridging the gap between what’s real and what’s not.”
Sandoval continued:
“Marcos sent me a rough guitar demo, which had the working title of ‘OUTBREAK.’ This by far was the heaviest idea yet, and I immediately texted him how much I loved it. Once I heard it, I knew there was no need to change the title and use it as the lyrical theme. The guitar riff and warning sample immediately gave me a frantic, apocalyptic, doomsday-type vibe.”
Bassist Traa Daniels added:
“This track is destined to be a crowd pleaser, with the apocalyptic overtone and a zombie-inspired theme that can be closely related to many current events. This was a fun song to record in the studio and is one of my personal all-time favorites.”
Sandoval concluded:
“Music connects. With so much division, music is the one thing that unifies. It truly is the universal language. Being able to perform around the world and for so many beautiful people has opened our eyes and has completely changed us for the good. Music is life, and it keeps us going. I feel like we’re always learning and growing. I think life can be confusing and complex at times, but for those moments that we get to be on stage together, everything seems to make sense.
We’ve always taken it one moment at a time, and we’ve always been true to ourselves, and the sound reflects that. The world doesn’t want truth; they want it their way, but we will continue to write for those who want to be empowered and overcome their most dismal situations.
I believe we tapped into something very special and used the momentum of ‘VERITAS’ to take the songs to a different level. We have always written our way and never try to duplicate other albums. This is P.O.D. 2027!”
Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante was forced to sit out the band’s September 29 show with Iron Maiden and Megadeth at Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. As such, the band ended up taking the stage with Mike Heller (Raven, ex-Fear Factory) behind the kit.
Heller commented:
“So I woke up today thinking that I was gonna spend a nice day with my cats and my drumpad… then out of absolutely nowhere at 2:00pm I get a call from my buddy Dirk Verbeuren… he asks me if I’m in town tonight, and if I might know any Anthrax songs, and if I can fill in for Charlie Benante at 6:30pm tonight on the Maiden/Megadeth/Anthrax tour…. Well… I didn’t know any Anthrax songs on the drums, but I quickly charted two out, raced down to the Alamodome… sat in traffic and got thrown to the wrong place to park.. finally got inside, sat down with the guys in Anthrax for less than an hour… charted the other songs as they told me how the versions they play live are different from the album… and then went on stage in front of 56,000 people or whatever, and did my best… Holy crap! How the HELL did I get here?!?!
I have to thank Jon Donais, Frank Bello, Scott Ian, Joey Belladonna, Armando Aguirre, Paul Collis and all the Anthrax crew for having faith in me to be able to pull this off… and of course Dirk and Chris Jericho for vouching for me!!
I still have no idea what happened! Next time, I hope I get more than a few hours to try to learn the songs… and hopefully I would actually be able to move the drums into a comfortable playing position for me… but this is a night I will never forget!”
