Fans Crash Car Into Venue During P.O.D., From Ashes To New, & All Good Things’ Birmingham, AL Show

During P.O.D., From Ashes To New, and All Good Things’ September 21 show at the Zydeco Bar in Birmingham, AL, two fans ended up crashing a car into the building. They have since been arrested.

According to the Birmingham Police Department, the suspects allegedly slammed their car into the venue and took off before they were taken into custody. One person suffered minor injuries. Notably, witnesses also mentioned that the driver was kicked out of the venue earlier that night.

From Ashes To New vocalist Matt Brandyberry discussed the incident in a video that was uploaded to social media:

“Apparently, what happened was this dude got kicked out of our show tonight. And I guess he got mad at the security guard for doing that. I guess they got into a fight and, from what I’m hearing, someone pulled a gun — security pulled a gun or something like that — and they got into a fight. And then this dude left… I guess what ended up happening was after he left, he came back with his car and he tried to run the security guard over. … This dude ran his fucking car into the bar, into the club. … I guess he must’ve hit the security guard, but the security guard seems fine; he’s bleeding, but he seems like he’s fine. But the dude who’s driving the car is mangled. The dude is, like, all messed up.”

P.O.D. Working On New Album

During a recent interview with Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio, P.O.D.’s Sonny Sandoval confirmed that the band are working on a new album. He said the following about that:

“Yes, we’ve been working on a new record. I think everybody has during the whole COVID time. But not being able to go jam — I mean, we’re a band that jams. A lot of these new bands all live in different states, and they just send files, and all of a sudden, they create music. Well, P.O.D. is not like that. We like to sit with each other and play music and figure stuff out. And so it’s kind of been a rough thing. So we’ve been trying to write as individuals, but it’s just a learning process. Not that it’s difficult, it’s just we like to get together like what a real band is supposed to do and hang out and talk and vibe out and just jam. That’s what bands do. So, we’re working on new stuff. I know we’re gonna do the [20th-anniversary] re-release of ‘Satellite’ [P.O.D.’s fourth studio album this month], and then I’m sure soon after that we’ll be dropping a single at some point.”

“We’ve been touring and working hard for almost 30 years now. It’s all we know. This past year has really made me realize how much I love what I do and how much I appreciate that I am still able to make music and play live for all of those who are still listening. Thank you to all of you who still love live music and can’t wait to be a part of the P.O.D. experience. We can’t wait to see all of your beautiful faces out on the road.”

Guitarist Marcos Curiel added:

“It’s been way too long. We are beyond excited to get back to the stage — where we provide the rock and you provide the roll. From familiar faces to new ones, let’s get back to what we’ve all been waiting for. We are ready as a band to create new memories with you all. Let’s do this! Peace, love, light, and rock ‘n’ roll.”

In other news, the band will also be releasing a 20th anniversary edition of “Satellite” on September 3 (vinyl out October 8). That version of the effort will come with 27 tracks including remastered versions of the original songs, remixes, rarities, and four previously unreleased demos. Traa Daniels added:

“As we get to share almost 30 years of music with our friends and family who have made this all possible, we are looking forward to sharing this moment with you all. One love!”

P.O.D. Cancel European Tour

P.O.D. have cancelled their European tour. The band pulled the plug on the trek due to safety guidelines, travel restrictions, and festival cancellations related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The group commented:

“Family –

There is so much optimism in the world today that soon we’ll all see each other again at a P.O.D. concert. We can’t begin to tell you how much we miss playing our music and sharing our songs with you.

Unfortunately, given a number of factors, including local safety guidelines, travel restrictions, and festival cancellations, we must also do what is necessary and announce that we are cancelling the Circles European Tour.

We’ve been assured that you will receive a full refund at your original point of purchase.

The band has been using the downtime on so many projects and we know that we’ll all be together again soon.

Better days ahead!

– Sonny, Marcos, Traa, Wuv”
