  • Mötley Crüe Score Victory In Legal Dispute With Mick Mars

According to Classic Rock, Mötley Crüe have emerged victorious amid their legal dispute with ex-guitarist Mick Mars. Independent arbitrator Patrick J. Walsh ruled that Mars gave up his right to touring revenue upon his departure. He will also have to pay over $750,000 in unrecouped tour advances.

Mars initially sued the band after claiming that he was asked to sign a severance agreement, which would drop his 25% stake in the band’s business interests to 5% for their 2023 shows and to 0% for future tours. The offer was then upped to 7.5% for 2023 if the guitarist agreed to divest himself from the band and their businesses. He also accused his bandmates of using pre-recorded tracks.

For their part, Mötley Crüe claimed the allegations were part of “a smear campaign.” The group also accused Mars’ representatives of “taking advantage of him” and commiting acts of “elder abuse.”

Walsh said the following about his ruling:

“Mars was given a $1,500,000 advance in exchange for his agreement to perform 138 shows. He understood when he received the advance that it was an advance and that he had to pay it back if he stopped touring. Mars stopped touring. Therefore, he must pay it back. Mars is ordered to pay to MCI the pro rata rate for the shows he missed between September 2021 and today. He is not required to pay for shows that have not taken place.”

Mötley Crüe also confirmed that the allegations regarding pre-recorded tracks were false:

“[Mars] was forced to admit under oath that his statements [regarding the use of backing tapes] were false. His expert confirmed that the band performed live, and Mars formally recanted his prior claims during sworn testimony.

This dispute was about protecting the integrity and legacy of one of the most successful bands in rock history. With the arbitrator rejecting every claim and enforcing the parties’ agreements as written, the band has been fully vindicated – legally, financially, and factually.”

  • Sabaton Postpone North American Tour

Sabaton have postponed their North American tour. The trek was delayed to give bassist Pär Sundström time to recover from “inflammation in his arms.”

    The band commented:

“Dear friends in the USA and Canada,

Unfortunately we have to postpone our North American tour.

Pär is currently dealing with inflammation in his arms, and after seeking medical advice, he’s been told to rest for now so he can properly heal. Performing on stage means everything to us, but health must come first.

We are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this causes. We’re already working hard to secure new dates.

We were so excited to see you all, and that excitement hasn’t gone anywhere. We’re looking forward to the moment we can finally step on those stages!

Thank you for your patience, your love and your constant support. It means the world to us!

For now, please keep hold of your tickets. You will receive an e-mail notification from the official point of sale as soon as the status of the event changes or a new date is announced. Please note, the summer shows in Europe are not affected by this!

We’ll be back soon, stronger than ever.

    Pär, Joakim, Hannes, Chris, Thobbe”

  • Paul Di’Anno (Ex-Iron Maiden) Documentary To Be Released This Summer

Cleopatra Entertainment have announced a new documentary on the late Paul Di’Anno (ex-Iron Maiden). The film is titled “Di’Anno: Iron Maiden’s Lost Singer” and it will be released this summer.

    The following was said about the documentary;

“In a strikingly raw and intimate film, Wes Orshoski, co-director and producer of the acclaimed 2010 film “Lemmy” about the Motorhead icon, and 2015’s “The Damned: Don’t You Wish That We Were Dead”, about punk rock legends The Damned, captures the late singer riding an emotional rollercoaster toward the end of his life. Featuring appearances by James Hetfield (Metallica), Gene Simmons (KISS), Maiden’s Steve Harris and members of Exodus, Slayer, Megadeth, Overkill and Sepultura, the film chronicles how two Iron Maiden fans encounter Di’Anno at the lowest point of his life and then set out to restore his health and relaunch his career.

Wheelchair-bound since the mid-2010s, Di’Anno’s health nosedived during the COVID-19 pandemic, when those two fans launched a crowdfunding campaign which ultimately led to him relocating to Croatia, where – through the help of those fans and doctors – he made a dramatic turnaround while running out of money, reuniting with his former Maiden bandmates, and falling in love. Eventually he makes a heroic and drama-filled return to the stage. All of this is captured in “Di’Anno: Iron Maiden’s Lost Singer”, which Orshoskibegan shooting in 2017.”

    Wes Orshoski also commented:

“For years there wasn’t much to capture. Paul was waiting for surgeries that doctors in the U.K. would not green-light. He was in an incredibly dark place. But once he got to Croatia, fans and doctors gave him the hope he was desperately searching for. It was beautiful to witness. I wanted to make a film that was unlike any rock doc you’ve ever seen. And in the end, I think we got there.”

The film will be screened at European film festivals before receiving a streaming and DVD and Blu-ray release. A trailer can be seen below:

  • Slash On New Guns N’ Roses Music: “The Next Record That We’re Gonna Do Is Gonna Be All New Original Stuff”

Guns N’ Roses’ latest singles, including the recently released “Atlas” and “Nothin’,” have consisted of re-recorded tracks from the archives. However, Slash has since confirmed that the band’s next album will feature “all new original stuff.”

Slash told KOMP 92.3’s Sylvia Alvarado the following about the aforementioned singles:

“It’s good to have a couple of songs that we’re promoting and then a tour that’s really a long tour. It’s gonna go from the end of March until the end of December. And it’s exciting, ’cause we’re coming back to the U.S., which is the first time we’ve been in the U.S. in a while.”

He continued when asked if the band plan to focus on standalone singles:

“I think in this instance it’s what we’re doing, because we only re-recorded those songs — like a couple of songs here, a couple of songs there. These were the last two that are left to do, and we actually did them not even back to back. ‘Nothin” was one, and ‘Atlas’ was at a different time, but they hadn’t been released yet. So, we’re releasing ’em now. And then there’s really no more of that sort of old rehash stuff to release. But I think what we’re gonna do, we’re gonna take all those songs and put them on something and release that as a package. And then the next record that we’re gonna do is gonna be all new original stuff, and that’ll be an actual album.

It’s a really weird time for especially rock and roll and how it works in this industry and how it works for fans. I think most die-hard rock and roll fans would like to get an album and they love vinyl, but they would want a package of songs. But some of the younger kids who are sort of raised in this new fancy kind of digital era that we’re in don’t know about albums, really, being released as a whole. So it’s a strange time. It’s harder to navigate. But to me, it’s a no-brainer. Make a record. You can do all the digital stuff in any configuration you want. But make sure that there’s an album. Yeah.”

He then circled back to the recycled material:

“Well, we took a bunch of material that Axl had, and we all sat down and listened to it. And so we sort of picked out all the different songs that we wanted to do and what Axl wanted to do. And we just sort of took all the guitars and the bass off and redid it. And it was fun. And it was the kind of thing where we did one song at a time. We did one or maybe two in the same week. But for the most part it was spread out over a long period of time. So it was just something fun to do and go, ‘Okay, what’s gonna be my approach for it?’ So each one of ’em has been an interesting sort of little project.”

He also added the following when asked about the band’s approach to “Atlas” and “Nothin’”:

“‘Atlas’ has some really cool chord changes and time signatures, so that was interesting in itself. And then coming up with the right voicings for that. With ‘Nothin”, it was a very spontaneous, very sort of simple, bare-bones approach. Not much thought went into it at all. It was just improvising.”

He also expressed a desire to perform them live:

“Well, we were gonna [play] ’em [live] both — I guess it was a couple of years ago, or a little over a year ago. And we were gonna do ’em both, and we actually rehearsed them and they sound great live and it was really fun. But then we decided that we didn’t know when we were gonna release these songs and we didn’t end up releasing them then. So we had to take them out of the set and wait. So we’re excited to go to play ’em now finally the songs are released.”

  • Former Metallica Guitarist Dave Mustaine Reflects On Failed “No Life ‘Til Leather” Reissue

About a decade ago, Metallica were planning to release an expanded edition of their “No Life ‘Til Leather” demo tape. However, the reissue never materialized due to a dispute involving songwriting credits. At the time, former guitarist Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) took issue with drummer Lars Ulrich receiving credit for songs he didn’t write. Now, during an interview with Classic Rock, Mustaine addressed that situation further, saying “it just wasn’t fair.”

    Mustaine said the following:

“I wrote all the music on ‘Phantom Lord‘, all the music on ‘Metal Militia‘, all the music on ‘Jump In The Fire‘ and ‘The Mechanix‘. And I wrote the lyrics for ‘Jump In The Fire‘ and ‘The Mechanix‘. So do the math: if I wrote the music and James [Hetfield] wrote the lyrics, then the credit is 50 per cent me, and 50 per cent James. Well, that’s not what went down when I left. James and Lars figured out that they were going to give Lars some percentage of the songs he didn’t write anything on, and that happened on all four songs.

This was a bone of contention for me going forward with Metallica on anything because, you know, it just wasn’t fair. You guys got more money than God, why do you have to take my money?

So James called me up, ‘Hey, man, we want to release this ‘No Life ‘Til Leather‘ thing, and we want to get all this publishing stuff straight, and, you know, we really don’t remember what went down. And I said, Well, that’s good, because I do. I remember what went down, and I can help with that.

And then the conversation took a turn. James goes, ‘Well, that’s not the way that we remember it’. And I went, Well, James, honestly, there’s three ways to look at this: there’s your way, my way, and the truth, which is some combination of the two. And that was the end of the conversation. He took offence to that, and we hung up, and I don’t remember speaking to him since then.”

  • Winterfylleth Premiere “Heroes Of A Hundred Fields” Music Video

Winterfylleth have premiered a new video for their new song “Heroes Of A Hundred Fields.” This track is from the band’s new album “The Unyielding Season,” which will be released on March 27.

The group commented on the single:

“‘Heroes Of A Hundred Fields‘ is framed in a wartime, battlefield setting and uses the premise of soldiers coming together, united as brothers, to fight against a foe who are powerful, oppressive, and domineering. It talks about how people should come together and fight for the freedoms they have and not succumb to those who would attack them and try to weaken them (or take them away entirely).

There have been so many ideas and schemes pushed into the world over the last few years that only serve to erode people’s personal freedoms, slowly, little-by-little, until they are gone. This song talks about ‘lighting the beacons of rebellion’ against those who would seek to undermine the way of life and freedom that we all – hopefully – hold dear.”

They also added the following about the album:

“2026 marks a year of big changes for Winterfylleth! A new label, a new member, a new album, and the landmark of 20 years making music together. We are enthused by what this new chapter will bring, and as a result, we are now able to share our ninth album, ‘The Unyielding Season‘, with the world. It is also a powerful and virulent first output, through which we seal our new collaboration with Napalm Records.

In many ways, the new album is a reflection on – and a rebellion against – the turmoil’s and fears that are tearing the lives of many individuals apart. It is a cry against the unsustainable & constant weight of malevolence and pressure being pushed into the world by agents of an un-resting and unyielding force for evil.

We hope the album resonates with you, stirs your soul, and gives you a source for hope. But, we also hope it makes you ask questions of your own circumstances and gives you pause to consider the unnerving state of the world we all share.”
