  • Late L7 Bassist Jennifer Finch’s Memoir “Shooting Up And Making Out” To Be Released In January

    Before her death, L7’s Jennifer Finch completed work on her new memoir, “Shooting Up And Making Out: A Memoir Of My Life In LA And L7.” The bassist worked on the book with Jeff Alulis and it will be available on January 19 via Da Capo. Pre-order HERE.

    Here’s a synopsis:

    “From Jennifer Finch (1966-2026), the bassist of L7, comes a candid and clear-eyed memoir that stands apart from the rest with its grounded perspective and bracing, edgy wisdom.

    If overcoming obstacles makes for great art, then Jennifer Finch was the consummate artist. She was a recovering addict, a photographer, the co-founder of an influential pro-choice advocacy group, and the bassist for the groundbreaking all-female hard rock group L7. Driven to express herself despite neglect and abuse, Finch carved an artistic path and pulled herself out of a personal hell. This is the story of how she pulled it off and lived an extraordinary life, in her own words.

    Finch was twelve when she dove into LA’s hardcore punk scene, fourteen when she first started shooting heroin, nineteen when she joined her first band with Courtney Love and Kat Bjelland, and in her early twenties when L7 got caught up in the maelstrom of the grunge phenomenon. She shared stages with bands like Pearl Jam and the Red Hot Chili Peppers in between overdosing, dating Dave Grohl, and coping with the tragic, early deaths of some of her closest friends. And she re-defined herself through sobriety, photography, and her courage in the face of a deadly illness.

    Jennifer Finch was a beloved pillar of strength and compassion in LA’s creative community, and her death on July 18th, 2026, was an irreplaceable loss. ‘Shooting Up and Making Out’ was completed just before her illness took hold, and every word of it–hard-hitting, funny, profane, and wise—is what she intended it to be.”

  • “Heavy Healing” To Receive Digital Release In September

    The new “Heavy Healing” documentary is now set to receive a digital release on September 22. That film explores the healing powers of heavy music.

    The following was said about the documentary:

    “Fans of Heavy Metal, Hardcore Punk and the like have been told since forever, whether by their parents, teachers or religious leaders, that these genres are “not music,” but noise. Each has been labeled as disorderly, violent and detrimental to the physical and mental health of young people.

    Be that as it may, many who have been affected by a wide variety of enervating conditions have come to rely on heavy artists to successfully assist them through the worst of times such as severe illness, weighty medical conditions and mental health challenges.

    New documentary film Heavy Healing seeks to dispel rumors and shine a much-needed bright light on the healing powers of aggressive music. You will hear directly and candidly from artists, fans and industry types – remarkable individuals who have leaned on (or even become) “controversial” music-makers in order to inspire and be inspired through the grueling process of recovery from the likes of cancer, anxiety and depression, strokes, heart attacks, cerebral palsy, blood diseases, diabetes and HIV/AIDS to name a few.

    Appearing in Heavy Healing are Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage), Lou Koller (Sick of It All), Jaret Reddick (Bowling for Soup), Mike IX Williams (EyeHateGod), Vinnie Stigma (Agnostic Front), Eddie “Sutton” Pomponio (Leeway), Jesse Malin (Heart Attack, D-Generation), Jimi Hazel (24-7 Spyz), Michael Alago (A&R Metallica, White Zombie…), Michael “Kaves” McLeer (Lordz of Brooklyn), Jimmy G. Drescher (Murphy’s Law), Brian “Mitts” Daniels (ex-Madball), Adam Blake (H2O), as well as one of HH’s filmmakers, and the inspiration for this documentary, music business veteran Seth Abrams, among others.”

    Seth Abrams commented:

    “I’ve survived several severe, life-altering medical ordeals. When you strip away the doctors and family and friends’ support, it’s the music that gets you through it all. In my case, I specifically leaned on Suicidal Tendencies’ “You can’t Bring Me Down.” Heavy Healing gives a voice to those who have relied on heavy, aggressive music to recover from any number of things – medical, emotional or both.”

    Heavy Healing director Howie Abrams added:

    “As someone who has worked with underground bands for over four decades, I’ve encountered far too many musicians who are forced to cope with one disorder or another. That said, it’s incredible to see how they’ve been able to rely on the extreme music we grew up with to help them remain motivated and to recover. Our hope with the film is that others can draw just as much inspiration from the music as our interviewees have.”

  • “Best Rock” Category Dropped From MTV Video Music Awards

    The nominees were recently unveiled for the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. However, it appears the “Best Rock” category has been dropped from the event. Despite this, Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit) was nominated in the “Best Alternative” category for “FIX UR FACE,” his collaborative track with Machine Gun Kelly. That song is competing against the following:

    • Geese – “Taxes“
    • Noah Kahan – “The Great Divide“
    • Olivia Rodrigo – “the cure“
    • SOMBR – “Homewrecker“
    • Tame Impala – “Dracula“
    • twenty one pilots – “Drag Path“

    The ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, CA on September 27.

  • Charley Crockett Claims Twin Temple Were Dropped From His Shows Due To Production Issues, Not Satanic Imagery

    Charley Crockett has further commented on his decision to kick Twin Temple off his shows. At the time, it was said the band were removed over satanic imagery. However, Crockett now claims they got the boot due to production issues.

    Crockett said the following:

    “I gotta clear this up right quick. I never dropped that band from those 2 shows for “Satanic Imagery”, they made it up and dragged me by a rope real good. It all started about a month before those shows while we were off in Wyoming. Their production requests raised eyebrows simply because we couldn’t accommodate them physically. Then I noticed some of the things they’d been doing on stage and after thinking about it for a couple days I decided to cut em loose.

    We told em the vibe just wasn’t right for an all ages audience, and we paid em in full. They got together with their business folks and plotted for days before finally making their public statement, designed for effect. Purposely making it look like it was a whole tour. Dog whistling about religious and creative freedom. Of course my rights didn’t matter since they had a new record coming out and a headline tour of their own to announce.

    It’s my fault, I let ‘em slip through and being that this here’s my outfit, I’m the responsible party. I reacted. I might respond differently now but everybody’s got perfect vision in hindsight. I think the most difficult part of the whole deal was the way the media, save for one outlet, cared nothing for the truth. They sanitized these folks’ image for their own uses in the click bait traffic game that is America’s left-right culture war.

    Or maybe it was all the artists I know who had their hand out showering me with praise the last few years that used the situation to kick me in the dick. I ain’t the one holding you down. And I won’t forget that when I was face down in the dirt coughing up blood you applauded. As for Jack White, he used it to sell tickets too and I lost a lot of respect for him.

    I wonder why he wasn’t so outspoken back when he was in the white stripes 20 something years ago. They purposely avoided political issues. Maybe he was worried about losing audience back when it was all on the line and he needed all the help he could get. Funny, I’ve got everything to lose right this minute and I still shoot from the hip. I’ve been speaking from my heart against the wishes of the machine my whole life. Real patriots think for themselves.”
