• Primus Announce “Frizzle Fry: Phantoms Of Barrington Hall” Graphic Novel

Primus have teamed up with Z2 Comics for a graphic novel titled “Frizzle Fry: Phantoms Of Barrington Hall.” The new book was written by vocalist/bassist Les Claypool and it features illustrations from Cage Claypool and Abimael Hernandez. Fans can pre-order deluxe and standard editions HERE. A bundle featuring a copy signed by Claypool and an exclusive vinyl pressing of “Frizzle Fry” is available as well.

    Here’s a description:

“Written by Primus’ frontman Les Claypool, ‘Frizzle Fry: Phantoms of Barrington Hall’ is an acid-soaked ‘Illustrated storybook for adults,’ that expands Primus’ warped mythology and surreal humor, as it presents a tale allegedly based on the band’s unbelievable experiences during their early years playing shows in Berkeley and the East Bay. Fans may think they know ‘Frizzle Fry’ from the song and the album of the same name, but this story explodes the band’s universe into a new form of psychedelic life on every page, capturing the off-kilter spirit Primus fans have come to expect, in a way that only Primus can.”

    Claypool commented:

“The thing about Barrington is… I’ve said this many times throughout the years and I’ve written a couple of songs about it… Barrington was like a living entity. It was like a living being. You walked in and you could feel it. That’s why I tried to really emphasize the notion of this place having a pulse because it felt like a living entity.”

    Z2 editor-in-chief Rantz A. Hoseley added:

“A logical extension of an ill-advised youth spent tripping balls in the mural-covered walls of my art school’s dormitory. As a longtime fan of Primus and someone who considers ‘Frizzle Fry’ to be one of the greatest albums of all time, getting to help bring Les’ vision to life on the page was a pleasure and a constant source of unexpected delight.”

  • William Shatner Is Planning To Release A Metal Album

Actor William Shatner (“Star Trek”, etc.) has revealed that he is planning to release a new metal album. The effort, which features contributions from Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Pantera), Ritchie Blackmore (Rainbow), Henry Rollins (ex-Black Flag), Edgar Froese (Tangerine Dream), Wayne Kramer (MC5), and more, will be available later this year.

    Shatner commented:

“Metal has always been a place where imagination gets loud,” Shatner said. “This album is a gathering of forces — each artist bringing their fire, their precision, their chaos. I chose them because they have something to say, and because metal demands honesty.”

He went on to say the project was inspired by a guest spot he did for Nuclear Messiah:

“When Nuclear Messiah came to life, something clicked. It wasn’t just a track — it was a doorway. It made me want to go all the way in, bring in the best metal players I could find, and create something fearless.”

    He also added:

“I’ve spent a lifetime exploring in both reality and fiction. Now I am stepping out into the unknown once again with my new project in heavy metal. I am covering Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden as well as a number of new songs written by my team. The whole project is destined for this year. I hope you will join me in the exploration.”

  • Ice Nine Kills Share Music Video For “Twisting The Knife” Featuring McKenna Grace

Ice Nine Kills have premiered a new video for their new song “Twisting The Knife.” You can check that out below. The band recorded the track for “Scream 7” and it features one of the film’s stars, McKenna Grace. The movie will be released on February 27.

    Vocalist Spencer Charnas commented:

“’Twisting The Knife’ is our tribute to Wes Craven and the ‘Scream’ franchise, which means so much to us. ‘Scream’ is baked into the DNA of who I am and of Ice Nine Kills—my love of horror, comedy, and the collision between the two. I was already obsessed with ‘Halloween’ and ‘Friday The 13th,’ but ‘Scream’ was the first I saw in theaters. Hearing the killer talk about horror movies, in that distinctively pop-culture savvy Kevin Williamson way, blew my mind.

In recent years, we’ve gotten to know and work with Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich, Neve Campbell, Rose McGowan, Jamie Kennedy, Lee Waddell, and others in different capacities. We announced the collaboration with ‘Scream 7’ at Wembley Arena, with Ghostface and Rose McGowan, which was surreal in itself.

When we learned that Mckenna Grace is a fan of our band, it made perfect sense to invite her to sing. She recorded her part in my home studio, in the same room where I keep my screen-used ‘Scream’ knife prop, one of the four rubber knives made for the first movie.

Marco Beltrami’s ‘Scream’ scores are just as influential to me as any other component of the films. In our song, there are echoes of the moody atmospheres he’s created, with our own INK twist.”

    Grace added:

“Making this song was such a special experience for me- I am such a big INK fan and it was such an amazing opportunity to be able to play with a different style of music. I am so inspired by [Evanescence singer] Amy Lee’s vocals and we all wanted to channel ‘Scream’ and Sydney’s story as best as we could. Spencer and the guys were so much fun to collaborate with and I’m so thankful to Kevin Williamson.”

  • Arch Enemy Recruit Vocalist Lauren Hart, Premiere “To The Last Breath” Music Video

Arch Enemy have officially recruited Lauren Hart (ex-Once Human) as their new vocalist. Her first release with the band is a new single titled “To The Last Breath.” You can find a video for that track below:

Guitarist Michael Amott said the following about working with Hart:

“Connecting with Lauren has marked an important step in my journey. Working with her was an exceptional experience — her remarkable voice, coupled with her dedication and professionalism, brings a rare level of excellence. I look forward to continuing the collaboration.”

He also added the following about the song:

“Make no mistake — this song is a reckoning. Musically, it’s unapologetically aligned with my original vision for the band — and I believe longtime fans will recognize that immediately. Lyrically, it’s about seeing through deception and dismantling the illusion of control. It captures that moment when you realize you’ve been fed poison — and you choose to fight back. Once that clarity hits, there’s no retreat. It’s do or die. Just when you think it’s over, a new beginning rises. Now it’s time to rage with us — to the very last fucking breath!”

In other news the band have also announced a summer European/UK tour. Here’s the dates:

07/19 Berlin, GER – Bi Nuu

  • Chamber Premiere “violins” Video

Chamber have premiered a new video for their new song “violins.” You can check that out below. The track is from their new album, “this is goodbye…,” which will be released on March 27.

    Guitarist/vocalist Gabe Manuel commented:

“We almost always write pieces of songs and put them together in the studio, but ‘violins‘ was one of a few songs on this record that we finished writing pretty far in advance. I was listening heavy to ‘De-Loused‘/’Frances the Mute‘ era The Mars Volta when we were writing this, and the rhythm of the chorus is definitely influenced by that stuff + anime theme song vibes. We all have eclectic music tastes outside of hardcore/metal, and this song fuses all those influences together in a way that I really love.”

The group also added the following about the album:

“‘this is goodbye… is Chamber at our most open and instinctive. A lot of this record was written on the spot in Randy’s studio, with no time to overthink what wewere playing. When I think back on putting this record together, I just remember the laughs we had in the studio and how naturally these songs came to be. To be real, we just had a ton of fun and tried to write parts that would get each other stoked.”

    “this is goodbye…” Track Listing:

    01. “arms of eternity“
    02 “scarlet ink“
    03. “violins“
    04. “vanity“
    05. “surveillance“
    06. “parting gift“
    07. “angel“
    08. “pale blue (why?)“
    09. “without a trace“
    10. “resurrect” (feat. Vincent Bennett of The Acacia Strain)
    11. “death without departure“
    12. “in revolving doors“
