Demon Hunter have released new acoustic versions of “I Will Fail You” and “Dead Flowers.” Both tracks will appear on the band’s new acoustic album “Songs Of Death And Resurrection,” which is set to be released on March 5. More details on that effort can be found HERE.
Thrice have released a two-song EP featuring acoustic versions of “Just Breathe” and “A Better Bridge.“ Those tracks were previously recorded for SiriusXM‘s Octane. Dustin Kensrue commented:
“It’s always fun to try dig out the skeletons buried in the songs. We nearly always start songs with instrumental parts and craft melodic structure around those parts, and so it’s a process of discovery when we do a stripped-down project like this and cut things away to find the core of the song.”
Shinedown’s Brent Smith and Eric Bass recently performed a cover of Vince Guaraldi’s “Christmas Time Is Here” from the 1965 TV special “A Charlie Brown Christmas” for Baltimore’s 98 Rock. You can check that out below, along with acoustic performances of “Atlas Falls,” “Unity,” and “Monsters.”
Death Angel have premiered a new video for their cover of Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure.” That single is the title track of the band’s new acoustic EP, which was released today (October 9). In addition to the cover, the effort also features a new song titled “Faded Remains” and new acoustic versions of “A Room With A View” and “Revelation Song.“
Mark Osegueda said the following about the EP:
“The ‘Under Pressure‘ EP is something I feel that we needed to release during these very frustrating times…These are very heavy times…And although it’s an all acoustic EP, It’s heavy in a different sense of the word. And music is how we express ourselves best!
These times will eventually pass and we shall all regroup and once again celebrate the other side of HEAVY that is the foundation of our truly fantastic Metal scene! Until then…Stay safe, healthy, and happy! I hope you enjoy!!”
Rob Cavestany added:
“What started out as simply expressing emotion through music as a cathartic reaction to the madness engulfing our world has turned into our first EP. Pure, raw and spontaneous, it’s also our first all acoustic release. Hoping this offering finds you well and brings warmth to your heart and soul. Together we shall overcome! Thank you for listening.”
Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery has released a new EP titled “Grief & Distance.” The effort features three new songs, “Distance,“ “Haunted” and “I’m Wrong“, and new acoustic versions of “What’s The Matter” and “Kings.“ Lowery commented:
“This EP was my way to process the loss of my mother, and the hard hit and the uncertainty of my livelihood from the pandemic. I escaped into my basement and into the songwriting process…it never fails me.”
Footage of Thrice‘s Dustin Kensrue and Teppei Teranishi performing acoustic versions of “Black Honey” and “Beyond The Pines” as part of a backstage “Ticketmaster Session” has been shared online. The video was filmed on October 30 at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, England.
