  • Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: pointless

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with pointless.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

POINTLESS: poıntless started in Berlin as a guitar-based rock and metal project that originally evolved from a former band project dating back to high school. It developed into a four-piece band, built around expressive vocals and heavy, emotionally charged songwriting and the attempt to find a compromise between our members different musical backgrounds. Over the last two years we released a series of singles and a self-titled EP and played many shows in Berlin and across Germany. After recording the current EP, personal and artistic differences led to the lineup dissolving. At this point, poıntless continues as a solo-led project under my direction (i.e. AaronB/ singer, guitarist and songwriter) with a focus on releasing this follow up EP and redefining its future form.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

POINTLESS: Main influences include System of a Down and Avenged Sevenfold, especially in how they combine heaviness with strong melodies and dramatic songwriting. Alice in Chains has been important for vocal harmonies and atmosphere. Earlier influences come from classic rock bands like AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses, and beyond rock, classical music and jazz also play a role in how I think about structure and emotion. We are also influenced by heavier bands such as Slipknot or Knocked Loose as well as some 90’s grunge such as Pearl Jam.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

POINTLESS: Our latest release is the single “Give Me A Sign”, which also serves as the lead track for the upcoming EP poıntless #2 – Tension For Closure. It’s a dark, heavy song about inner confusion and the search for meaning, left intentionally open to interpretation. Readers should check it out if they’re into emotionally driven guitar music with dramatic vocals and a serious, introspective tone rather than something purely surface-level.

POINTLESS: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

METAL ANARCHY: They can expect intense shows with a special energy and some gimmiks. It’s loud, guitar-driven music meant to be felt physically and emotionally, with a direct exchange between band and audience. However, it might still take a while until poıntless is back to playing shows.

POINTLESS: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

METAL ANARCHY: In five years, I see poıntless still existing in some form, but not necessarily as a fixed lineup (which was somewhat problematic in the past). I want it to be an established creative outlet with a clear identity, a solid catalogue of releases, and the freedom to evolve. Whether that means a stable band, rotating collaborators, or a more solo-driven project matters less than continuing to release honest music and play meaningful shows.

  • Dope’s Edsel Dope Reaches Trademark Agreement With Chuck D And John Densmore Regarding Their doPE Project

As previously reported, Chuck D (Public Enemy) and John Densmore (The Doors) recently caught the attention of Dope frontman Edsel Dope after they announced plans to release a new album, titled “no country for old men,” on April 18 under the name doPE. However, it appears Edsel has since allowed them to use the name despite his ownership of the trademark. Chuck D said the following about that:

“We would like to send a special shout out to Edsel Dope from the band Dope for giving us his blessing, surrounding the trademarked usage of the name Dope for our “no country for old men” collaboration. We appreciate his love and support.”
