Bloom have premiered a new song titled “Tongue Tied.” The track, which features Mikaila Delgado (Yours Truly), is from the band’s new album, “The Light We Chase,” which will be released on Halloween (October 31).
Drummer Jack Van Vilet commented:
“This song marks new ground for Bloom and is our softest, cleanest song to date. A duet with Yours Truly’s Mikaila Delgado, ‘Tongue Tied’ is an honest look at being afraid to speak your mind, for fear of what will happen if you do.
While it begins as an acoustic track, electric guitars and drums barge into the song with energy midway through the second verse, and lead the song to a finger pointing, sing-a-long refrain of ‘what am I without you.’ The song balances two clean voices as it balances full band and acoustic sections that flow naturally after the other, as the vocals balance honesty and fear in equal parts.
Just as how the song sonically is a different direction for us, we wanted to create a video that was different to any form of content we’ve made before. Shot completely as a one-take, the video is a fly-on-the-wall view of a couple who long for connection from each other, but aren’t able to find the ways to communicate.
Both shaken up by an argument that has taken place, the video begins as they sit in the car driving away from each other, representing the distance growing in their relationship. As they physically move further apart, silhouettes of how they truly feel begin to communicate and reach out and try to reconnect. As the lyric “I hope that we’re good” is sung, we see their silhouettes reaching out one final time and embrace each other, while they both sit across from each other in different locations with no way of resolving the pain they both feel.”
Atomic Rule, the project featuring Andy Williams (ex-Every Time I Die), Travis Bennington (Eternal Sleep), James Hendergroove, and Kevin Boutot (Dry Kill Logic), have announced a new EP titled “With Skull Crushing Force.” The three track-effort will be available on September 26.
During a rig rundown segment for Premier Guitar, Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter opened up about his battle with type 2 diabetes. He also revealed that the condition limited his involvement in the band’s latest album “private music.”
Carpenter brought up his health issues while discussing his love for Bilmuri:
“I love Bilmuri. Bilmuri is amazing. All bangers, as stated. I’ma tell ya, the latest record [‘AMERICAN MOTOR SPORTS‘], I never turned it off for maybe two or three months. I’ve been going through some health struggles over the past couple years — basically I’m type 2 diabetic, that’s what I’m dealing with — and you know, I’m 55, I’m getting old right?
So there was a time when that record came out and I listened to it so much, that the songs were just so, so catchy. Like, I’d wake up in the middle of the night and go use the bathroom or whatever, but I couldn’t get to sleep because the song would keep going.
I’d have to put something on that made me hear something else in my head. I stopped listening to it for awhile, because it was too much. But now I can listen to it without it disrupting my sleep.”
He went on to say that frontman Chino Moreno contributed more guitar work to “private music”:
“On this record, Chino really came and showed up with the riffs. There’s a lot of riffs on this record that are ones that he came up with. Good on him, man. I’m stoked and proud, and he inspires me right now. Because, again, like I said, I’ve been going through these health things now, for the last couple years.
I’ve been diabetic, probably longer than I than I knew, and deteriorating because of it. And it was only this year that I finally accepted it and have engaged in actively handling it, because otherwise I’m going to die from it. I don’t want to die from it.
And I got compassion for every person out there that that is experiencing this kind of stuff, and I will speak for those people. Our food supply is toxic. I mean, we are all just sugar-poisoned. And if you’re a person of color, you’re at an elevated risk for diabetes. But every one of us is getting affected by the substance in just different ways. Whatever your DNA is, your problems are still sourced to the same problems as mine. It’s just this is what’s got me.
And going through this record, like I said, back to [what] you asked me, what did I contribute? You know, I struggled going through this record. I’m very grateful that when it was time for me to track my guitars, that I was physically able to do it, because up until that point in time, there were songs I hadn’t even engaged in yet.
Like the song, ‘I think about you every day‘, right? I didn’t even play one thing on that song, literally, until it was time for me to record. I literally wrote, and I say, wrote, I recorded my part, literally, in the moment of recording that song. Effects, everything. It all happened when it was time. Otherwise I didn’t have anything.”
He then further commented on the sessions:
“Everybody was pumped. I was having a good time. I was engaged as I could be. But like I said, I’ve been going… I still have my [health] struggles, but I was going through a lot then. And last year was when I hit the bottom — or the bottom as I wanted to hit it.
And so I’ve been getting my medical help, and seeking information, just dealing… just being accountable for my own personal situation. Otherwise, I’ve just been like everyone else out there, ignoring it, acting like it’s nothing, self-medicating and failing.”

Any Means Necessary has announced a new licensing deal with Type O Negative. The one-year partnership will include four capsules of reimagined designs from the band’s career. The first wave of items will launch on October 19 and it will include shirts, hoodies, shorts, pins, and sweaters. Shawn Coss, co-founder, CEO and creative director of Any Means Necessary, said the following about the collaboration:
“This project is deeply personal for me. I’ve been a fan of Type O Negative since I was a teenager, and their music was a huge part of my youth. We wanted to honor their legacy while exposing a new generation to the original goth rock band. By blending their iconic aesthetic with our distinct sense of style, we’re creating pieces that let fans wear their darkness in a modern way.”
Many Eyes, the band fronted by Keith Buckley (ex-Every Time I Die), have premiered a new song titled “House Of Bad Taste.” This track is from the band’s new EP “Combust,” which will be released on September 19.
Brass Against have paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne with a new cover of “No More Tears.” The track features vocalist Morgan James and a video for it can be found below:
Mastiff have premiered a new song titled “Decimated Graves.” This track is from the band’s new EP, “For All The Dead Dreams,” which will be released on October 24. The group said the following about the single:
“Despite having every intention of writing a mostly hardcore-leaning EP, ‘Decimated Graves‘ spewed itself out of us and all bets were off. The track is something of a scathing assault on anyone enabling the current genocide happening in Gaza, and musically feels like a spiritual successor to ‘Acid Breather’ – our track from the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack – a kinda grind/death hybrid with lots of nauseating riffs and blasts, which then lurches into a massive wall of doom at the end that feels like a return to the sound Mastiff specialised in for our first couple of releases.”
Guilt Trip have signed a new deal with Roadrunner Records. With this news, the band have also shared a new song titled “Burn.” You can find a video for the track below:
The group commented:
“We are thrilled to announce that Guilt Trip have signed to Roadrunner Records. To celebrate, we present ‘Burn,’ our brand new single and first with the label. Roadrunner and its history forged Guilt Trip‘s sound as you know it, so this collaboration always felt inevitable. Thank you so much to the fans for the unwavering support throughout the years — this is only the beginning. Here’s to the next chapter.”
Guitarist Jak Maden added:
“Sonically, it’s a metal song with hardcore influences sprinkled in. To us, it felt a little bit like old Machine Head. It’s definitely an anthem. As soon as we finished it, I knew it needed a simple repeated line until the drop and ‘wall of death’ section. We won’t even need to tell the crowd what to do.”
