  • KISS Manager Doc McGhee On New Farewell Tour Documentary: “You’ll See A Whole Different Side Of KISS”

During an appearance at the “KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas” event, KISS manager Doc McGhee discussed the band’s upcoming farewell tour documentary. According to him, the film will offer “a whole different side of KISS.”

    McGhee said the following:

“We’ve always tried to capture what we’re doing. We had to do the fly-on-the-wall [approach], because if you don’t, everybody becomes actors, and it gets boring. You have to really find a way, and the only way to do it is to have people with you that you trust that sit there and film you all day long. We did this for five years — we started this [in] ’19 — so it was important to us to not have the usual KISS/WWE kind of thing. KISS is like WWE in a certain way — they’re always on, and all this. We wanted to catch all the moments that were inspiring, that you could see the heart of KISS. It took us a long time, and we have thousands of hours of this stuff. We’ve been editing this for two years to find the right thing, and I think we’ve got a great mix. I think when you see it, you’ll see a whole different side of KISS than what we’re used to seeing. You’ll see that tie together. I think it will be a great ride that will then bring us into the biopic [the forthcoming feature film ‘Shout It Out Loud’], and then into the avatar show. I think right now we have the tentpoles set up to set us up for the future.”

He went on to say release plans are still pending:

“One thing we’ve always tried to do is, we don’t release anything until it’s right. Whether it’s the avatar show [or whatever], if it takes longer, it takes longer. If this takes longer, it takes longer. If the movie takes longer… we’ve been doing this movie for seven years. We don’t need to make a movie, and we don’t need to make a documentary. We need to make a phenomenal [documentary], a phenomenal avatar show and the best movie out there, and I think we have the best team to do it.”

He also added that the documentary, avatar show, and biopic will keep the band alive for years:

“In today’s world, the technology that we have, with the team of people we’ve assembled, it actually, where I thought I was starting to slow down, I’m just working a lot harder. I believe that what we have at our fingertips to give to the world as far as KISS is concerned is going to go on way beyond all of us.”

  • Deryck Whibley: “I’d Like To Do An Acoustic Tour Of Sum 41 Songs”

During a recent interview with Rock Sound, Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley discussed his future in the music industry following the completion of the band’s farewell tour. Among his plans, are a possible acoustic tour and album.

    Whibley said the following:

“I play guitar every day. I have no plans or I don’t know what I’m gonna do with music, but I play guitar every day, I write music every day and I have a stockpile of songs and music that are just kind of sitting there that eventually I’m gonna wanna do some music. I don’t know when that is, but, yeah. I’m sure I’ll do something again with music, eventually.”

He continued when asked if he will write for himself or others:

“I think a lot of the stuff that I’m working on right now, I like for myself. I’m a very selfish writer. When I write something I like, it’s hard to give it away. I can work with somebody and create something from scratch, but if I’ve finished a song, that’s pretty hard to give away.”

He also added the following about the acoustic venture:

“I’d like to do an acoustic tour of SUM 41 songs, things like that. I have an acoustic record that I recorded and it is done of SUM 41 songs that may come out sometime soon. And I’d like to go tour that, but, again, there’s no plans for any of it.”

  • Creative Director Thierry Coup On KISS Avatar Show: “The Band Is Going To Be As Real As It Ever Was”

During an appearance at the “KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas” event, Thierry Coup, creative director for the KISS avatar show, further discussed the venture. According to him, “the band is going to be as real as it ever was.”

Coup said the following about the avatars, which are being created in cooperation with his own JOCOUP Creative and Swedish investment company Pophouse Entertainment:

“When we did the MSG moment at the end, it was really to spark the idea of what was going to come in the future, and to really tell everyone that KISS is only done with the first chapter — the first 50 years. The next 50 years is about to start. Now, we’re right in the middle of developing the real avatar [show], which takes about two years. We are developing the stage and taking this energy and this incredible KISS explosive theatrics and shows into the future.”

He went on to say the avatar show is seeking to capture the “DNA” of a KISS concert:

“Many, many years ago, what blew me away was when I went to my first KISS concert. It just changed my life. I knew KISS’s music, but you don’t know KISS until you see them live. It took me into their world… For me, to be lucky enough to be involved with creating this avatar show, it’s like a dream come true. When Pophouse came along a couple of years ago asking me, ‘Do you want to create the biggest, most incredible tour in the world and blow it up with pyrotechnics,’ [I said,] ‘Yeah, of course — I’m in. Count me in’… The past 30 years, I’ve been creating big, crazy, immersive shows [and] multimedia shows. If you’ve flown with Harry Potter or ridden with Mario in his Mario Kart or been chased by a dinosaur at Universal [Studios], I was probably involved with that. For me to be asked to do this, it’s fantastic. I love KISS, [and] I love KISS’s music. I think there’s no better band to really go into the future like this and keep inspiring new fans.”

    Coup continued:

“The band is going to be as real as it ever was. They’re a little younger than they are today, but that’s all about really taking everything we know about KISS, about the band members, looking at archives, working with the band about who they really are and who they were, and bringing all that to life so when you see them, this is not just going to be animation or recreation. This is KISS, with all the love, the energy coming to life.”

    He also added:

“KISS is going to be back on tour. This is what we’re creating — the band is going to be back, but bigger. They were already bigger than life — they’re superheroes — and what we’re doing is bringing the stage to another dimension, being able to explore things that could not be possible. With the technology today, we are able to do a lot more, but it’s all true [to] KISS. KISS has innovated — they’ve always looked forward; they’ve never looked backwards — so we are doing the same thing. We’re working with Paul [Stanley] and Gene [Simmons], so we know what their dreams were. They were able to achieve a lot of that, but now we can take it to a new level. Really, we want everyone – new and old fans – to come to this show, to this real-life KISS concert, and feel like, ‘Oh my God. This is KISS.’ This is kind of passing the torch to the next era, the next generation. I want to see every kid walk in this show and feel the same [way] I felt the first time you went to a KISS show — ‘Oh my God. This is incredible. I want more. I’ll never forget this moment.’ Creating that moment that we all felt the first time we went to those concerts, that’s what I’m in for; that’s what we’re all in for with Pophouse. We’re super-excited about it.”

Manager Doc McGhee chimed in as well:

“When we looked at how we were going to end the career of KISS, it was like, you look and you see [LED] ZEPPELIN and you see all the rest of them that just kind of fade away,” he said. “As we’re looking, I went, ‘I don’t know what we can possibly do,’ until this technology came from Pophouse. This was three years ago [when] we found Pophouse. I flew over to Sweden, and they showed me this whole thing they did with ‘ABBA Voyage’. It was perfect. We always wanted to do the Marvel [Comics-like], going-into-the-future [ending], to keep them immortal. With their makeup and everything else, they look the same in 1974 as they do now with makeup — a little fatter, but that’s what spandex is for. [We thought], ‘Wow, this would be unbelievable if we could be the first band to ever do this.’ It just was a match made in heaven, and now, with the technology of today, we can do it. The best part is with KISS, it’s like, if it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing. All of our shows, we put 100 pounds of shit in a five-pound bag every night. We spend a lot of money doing this stuff — for the fans, and for us, because we want to be over-the-top. This technology can even do it further than what we did before.”

  • Yungblud Cancels Remaining 2025 Dates Due To Health Concerns

Yungblud has cancelled his remaining dates for the year. The singer scrapped the shows due to health concerns.

    Yungblud said the following:

“This year has been truly unbelievable and I feel so lucky and honoured from everything that has happened. This week when I got home off the road, and went to have some tests done (like I usually do) and my voice and blood tests have raised some concerns. I have been ordered by my doctor to take a break from touring until the end of the year.

It is in my nature to run and run until I run myself to the ground without giving a fuck about anything apart from the music and you guys but this time I’ve been told I have to take it seriously and I can’t fuck around.

  • Butcher Babies Singer Heidi Shepherd Offers Update On New Album: “We Are Heading Towards The Finish Line”

Butcher Babies singer Heidi Shepherd has offered an update on the band’s upcoming album. According to her, the group “are heading towards the finish line.”

    Shepherd said the following:

“Demos ✔️ 7 songs fully recorded ✔️ 5 (maybe 6) to be completed NEXT WEEK… LET’S DO THIS!

Heading back to LA to finish this record with Howard Benson and we are STOKED!

Flip flopping between the studio recording, many tours, and festivals has been a bananas ride. But, we are heading towards the finish line and ready to show you what we’ve been working on for the last year +.

Our team at Judge & Jury has been such a treat to work with. What started as an EP turned into a full LP cause we are gelling so well!

These songs are incredibly personal and hands down some of my favorite of my whole career. We’re going to take a deep dive into the last 25 years of my life. This album is an autobiography, touching on early-life moments that I’ve never spoken about publicly. 🥹

As always, Henry Flury and I have locked ourselves away in our studio for months. It’s our confessional, our church, our therapy.

I cant wait to let these songbirds fly, and finally introduce you to this part me 🩶”
