The group wrote the new material following the death of vocalist Patrick Flynn’s mother. Guitarist Alex Henery said the following about that:

“We went to Pat’s house just to support him in a dark time and then we ended up writing music. It came out of a really good place, of us just wanting to write music together in that moment, and that freed us up to experiment.”

    Flynn added:

“We’ve gone into every record with the idea that it might be the last thing we ever do. Everything’s been treated that way because of the nature of our lives and our relationship with making music and creating art; it’s not career-driven.”

  • Evil Island Share Video For “Melted Heart” Featuring Alexis Krauss (Sleigh Bells)

Evil Island (The Blood Brothers, etc.) have premiered a new video for their new song “Melted Heart.” The track, which features Alexis Krauss (Sleigh Bells), is from the band’s new album, “Terraform The Afterlife,” which will be released on August 14.

    Vocalist Johnny Whitney commented:

“’Melted Heart’ takes place in a world where live-streamed humiliation rituals and public meltdowns have replaced talent, character, and achievement as the dominant social currency. A world where ‘picking fights with parked cars’ is a viable career path and people high-five their hearts like gongs hoping somebody is still watching. Its main characters are ‘supermodels with shit smeared in their teeth crucifying themselves on your lawn’ and people ‘sobbing in public with chainsaws in their hands screaming give me an acid attack’ because in this world, attention isn’t earned, it’s extracted.

The Octopus Queen from The Blood Brothers’ ‘March on Electric Children’ found her way back into the lyrics because I wanted to see if she still worked as a metaphor for the rot at the center of our culture. As it turns out, the culture is still rotten, and the Octopus Queen is still laying eggs behind our eyeballs.”

    Krauss continued:

“Had a blast working with Evil Island on ‘Melted Heart.’ I’ve been a huge fan of Johnny’s voice, and it was pretty surreal to get to scream and shout with him. It’s really inspiring to see all these guys giving the most to this band and generating so many great ideas. Maybe we can go on tour one day?!?”

    Director Jonah Ray added:

“I was still in high school in Hawaii when the first Blood Brothers album came out. My friends and I were obsessed. Over the years, I got to see them play around Los Angeles. I even briefly met some of the members when they stopped by the Venice Beach record store where I worked while they were recording ‘Burn, Piano Island, Burn.’ At the time, I had no idea our paths would cross again.

Years later, backstage at FYF Fest, I ended up befriending Cody Votolato. That chance meeting turned into years of collaborations across various creative projects.

Cut to even more years later: Cody reunites with his former Blood Brothers bandmates in a new band and suddenly needs a music video. So, in the spirit of friendship, I called on a few of my own friends to help bring ‘Melted Heart’ to life.

It was one of those rare full-circle moments. Making that video brought me right back to being a kid on Oahu, listening to The Blood Brothers and making weird little movies with my friends.”

10/09 Phoenix, AZ – Last Exit

    The band commented:

“For a lot of this band’s life, it has existed, for us, mainly as an abstract feeling or place, a dimension in our hearts and imaginations. In the live realm? For only four of the 15 years of its existence. So, when we announced the first tour back, after seven years of not playing, we were excited, but we couldn’t predict the reaction. We couldn’t even predict how we’d ourselves feel once we got going. We also didn’t know at the time that we’d be joined by Danny Lohner and Chris Pennie.

Once we got this new chapter up and running, and all the pieces and personnel on and offstage snowballed their way into place, and we saw and heard you again in person, this whole thing became filled with new life, with new ideas, with new musical dynamics and interpretations. Now suddenly this is the most excited we’ve ever been for this band, and ‘Fever Daydream‘, which has always been special to us, feels as new and real and tangible to us as it did when we were first building it over a decade ago.

What started as a ‘looking back’ celebration of an album, has suddenly become a real time celebration of a new chapter of possibilities and memories for us personally and creatively. We want to stay in this moment just a bit longer before we move on to LP3. So, here’s our second, and final for this chapter, North American leg. See you soon.”

  • Amberian Dawn Premiere “Moon” Music Video

Amberian Dawn have premiered a new video for their new song “Moon.” You can check that out below. The track is from the band’s new album, “Temptation’s Gates,” which will be released on June 26.

    Multi-instrumentalist Tuomas Seppälä commented:

“I composed this song just a few weeks after we had recruited our new vocalist. From the very beginning, it carried an exceptionally dark and haunting atmosphere, and I wanted to preserve that exact feeling throughout the entire process. For the first time in my career, I decided to introduce growling vocals into the arrangement. It felt completely natural in this song, and I knew Nicole could deliver it with the right intensity and emotion. It had been a long time since I last recorded a guitar solo myself, and stepping back into that role made the experience even more personal. This track captures a darker and more haunting side of our new era.”

    Singer Nicole Willerton added:

“The song ‘Moon’ is about finding hope, tranquility, and inner peace in a world filled with destruction, greed, and suffering. The moon serves as a guiding light and a symbol of beauty, reminding us that even when life feels overwhelming or full of misery, it’s important to cherish the simple beauties of life, such as nature and the freedom of the spirit.”
