  • Social Distortion Are Using Fully Upcycled Merch Items On Their European Tour

    Social Distortion are selling 100% upcycled merch on their current European tour. Shirts and hoodies were printed on blanks Universal Music Group’s merchandising division, Bravado put together from unsold merch in their Nashville warehouse.

    The unused items were sent to Tangier in Morocco. Hallotex then broke them down ​and spun them into new yarn. The initiative, which was proposed by Billie Eilish’s mother Maggie Baird, was launched to create ⁠280,000 recycled cotton merch items for musicians to sell on their European tours.

    Social Distortion’s Mike Ness commented:

    “It’s important to everyone in the band that we always do what we can to reduce our footprint on the environment, and using these 100% recycled blanks for t-shirts on our tour is an easy way to do just that. We hope that our fans will love them.”

    Matt Young, CEO of Bravado, continued:

    “There are a huge number of artists that have been waiting for this kind of sustainable option for merch on their tours. We’re thrilled that Social D will be among the first bands to take these new t-shirts and hoodies out on the road with them. This is an important innovation as we continue to decrease the impact made by touring and merch.”

    Dylan Siegler, head of sustainability for Universal Music Group, added:

    “Merch gives fans a tangible way to connect with artists, and this project gives them a way to connect with sustainability at the same time. These are pieces fans will feel good about purchasing.”

    Gore. have premiered a new video for their new song “Lead Me To The Slaughter.” The band commented:

    “This song is about being indoctrinated into a cult, and idolizing what kills you. Idolatry is rampant beyond human repair with social media — we now look at people like they’re gods. We idolize money, fame, and beauty more now than we ever have as a society. These idols will lead us to nothing but guilt, shame, and suffering.”

  • Dreamwell Premiere “Plath Vs. Kafka Vs. Romance” Music Video

    Dreamwell have premiered a new video for their new song “Plath Vs. Kafka Vs. Romance.” This track is from the band’s new album, “Hymns For The Denial Of God,” which will be released on August 28.

    Vocalist Keziah “KZ” Staska commented:

    “We wanted to embrace the more mosh-y early two-thousands style we’d been ignoring for a while. We hit it here. I wrote ‘Plath Vs. Kafka Vs. Romance’ at a time in my life when things were going pretty well for me. If I discussed being miserable in the lyrics, it would’ve been disingenuous. I don’t know how to write the songs I’ve come to be known for when things are okay though.

    It was scary to not know what my creative process was going to look like. I’m basically saying, ‘I wish I knew how to write songs about being happy, but I don’t. I don’t know what to do with my writing when I’m not miserable.’”

    He also added the following about the album:

    “The title embodies the theme. In the past, I was so inwardly focused; most of our songs were about myself and whatever I was emotionally dealing with. I wanted to make a record that wasn’t extremely introspective. The album interrogates the negative impact of organized religion when it’s misused to justify violence, genocide, and hatred of others. It’s not a purely atheistic statement either.

    I’m choosing not to believe in a God who’s invoked to validate evil. The prevailing narrative in heavy music is often, ‘If you believe in God, you’re stupid.’ This isn’t our narrative. Believing in God isn’t wrong. I don’t think the mainstream God in the political landscape is the one we should be looking for though.”

  • Electric Callboy Apologize For Misinterpreted Joke Post About Pinkpop Festival Crowd

    Electric Callboy recently made a post related to concertgoers sitting through their Pinkpop Festival set to see another artist. The clip showed footage of several people unamused by the band. Despite the obvious joke, a number of fans misinterpreted the band’s intentions and started causing issues in the comments. As such, the band have now apologized.

    The group said the following:

    “HEY GUYS,

    YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED THAT WE DELETED OUR LAST POST.

    THE VIDEO WAS TAKEN DURING OUR SET AT PINKPOP.

    WE FOUND THE SITUATION FUNNY AND SHARED IT BECAUSE IT MADE US LAUGH.

    THE JOKE WAS ABOUT THE SITUATION, NOT THE PEOPLE.

    UNFORTUNATELY, SOME PEOPLE INTERPRETED IT DIFFERENTLY, WHILE OTHERS USED IT AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEAVE HATEFUL COMMENTS AND BE UNKIND TOWARDS PEOPLE IN THE CROWD.

    THAT WAS NEVER OUR INTENTION, AND IT’S NOT SOMETHING WE SUPPORT.

    MUSIC IS FOR EVERYONE. WE’VE SUPPORTED ALL GENRES OF MUSIC SINCE DAY ONE, AND ANYONE WHO KNOWS US KNOWS HOW MUCH WE LOVE BRINGING DIFFERENT INFLUENCES TOGETHER.

    Kingdom Collapse have shared a cover of Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten.” This track is from their new album, “Survivor,” which will be released on October 30. Singer Jonathan Norris commented:

    “I remember first hearing ‘Unwritten’ and I had to be 11 or 12 at the time. That song got stuck in my head and never left. It’s an anthem for embracing life and embracing yourself, so the message fits perfectly with what we do. Throw a big wall of rhythm guitars on that chorus and there you have it.”

  • Ice Nine Kills Score First No. 1 At Active Rock Radio With “Twisting The Knife” Featuring Mckenna Grace

    Ice Nine Kills have scored their first No. 1 at Active Rock Radio with “Twisting The Knife.” The single, which features Mckenna Grace, was recorded for the latest film in the “Scream” franchise, “Scream 7.”

    Notably, the song surpassed 10 million cross-platform streams during its first week, topped Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales charts, and topped YouTube’s Current Rock, Hard Rock and Metal Music Videos charts in the U.S. It is also the first “Scream” track to hit No. 1 at radio. It has since gone on to secure 32.2 million cross-platform streams.

    Frontman Spencer Charnas commented:

    “‘Scream’ has been and will always be a monumental influence on us, and the music has been every bit as important as the films themselves, starting with Marco Beltrami’s brilliant score.
