• The Halo Effect Working On New Album

The Halo Effect (ex-In Flames, etc.) have started work on their next album. Frontman Mikael Stanne confirmed the news to Futuro.

Stanne said the following when asked about the band’s current live plans:

“No real plans right now, but we are working on our third album right now, so as soon as that is out, like by the end of the year or something like that, it’s gonna be time to tour again, of course. So, I hope we can come [to Chile] and do a proper tour.”

He continued when asked about his working relationship with his bandmates:

“It’s super fun. I mean, it really is like a passion project among friends. So, to get to travel together with my friends who I’ve known since I was a teenager, it’s pretty awesome. And the new album is shaping up to be incredible. I just heard one song today, and, yeah, it’s gonna be fantastic. So I hope we can come [to Chile after the LP is released].”

  • Ex-Cro-Mags Singer John Joseph Blasts Harley Flanagan For Re-Recording “The Age Of Quarrel”

As previously reported, Cro-Mags bassist/vocalist Harley Flanagan recently re-record the group’s 1986 album “The Age Of Quarrel.” However, during a chat on The T&F Podcast, former singer, John Joseph, expressed disapproval with the decision.

    Joseph said the following:

“It’s already recorded. None of the original members that played on the record are involved. I guess my former bass player feels — whatever. I don’t know why he did it. I don’t know. Who cares, dude? I’m doing new music. I mean, the dude put out a five-CD box set — I don’t know — three or four years ago, and without our permission of live performances. [He] didn’t take care of anybody in the band, so whatever, dude. If you need money, I don’t know. Who cares? I’m doing new music. And as far as I’m concerned, that’s a classic record. And I think a lot of people are kind of sounding a similar vibe to the whole thing. Why do that? Go write some new music, dude. So, whatever.”

He continued when asked if a remaster of the original album would have been better:

“He doesn’t own the masters. Steve Plotnicki from [the defunct record label] Profile owns the masters. We were talking with Joe Nelson [co-founder of Trust Records], who I trust, and they just did the BAD BRAINS catalog. He’s been trying to get the rights from Steve Plotnicki, but apparently the old bass player threatened him online or whatever, and the guy was, like, ‘Well, now I’m never giving you the masters. And you can sue me. I got millions of dollars’ and whatever the hell. I told Joe anyway, if he puts that record out, I don’t want nothing to do with the re-release. It’s a dead issue at this point for me. I got another BLOODCLOT record coming out, and I’m doing some other music.”

He also commented on Flanagan’s new vocals:

“What are you gonna do? You actually think you’re gonna do a better job? And as raw and hardcore as it was… I mean, a lot of people don’t know, I sang that record straight through. I did one song after another after another after another. Is that my vocal ability now? I should hope not. But, anyway, it is what it is. It was a classic time. I came out of the temple and injected … teachings. That’s why I named it ‘The Age Of Quarrel’, Kali Yuga, all of that.”

He also shot down the possibility of a reunion:

“That dude [Harley] was reaching out to me all the last couple years to do the 40-year reunion. Nobody wants to be involved. That’s where it’s at. And I learned my lesson, after giving somebody multiple chances and just pulling the same old bullshit over and over and over. Money missing, fucking just treating people like shit. That’s why G-Man [drummer Garry Sullivan] and all of them just quit. He’s [Harley] got a documentary out. How come none of the original members that were in the MAGS are in it? You gotta ask yourself that. I don’t think Kevin [Parris Mayhew] or Doug [Holland] or Mackie [Jayson] or myself would have really anything good to say. So that’s the end of that issue.

There will be no reunion shows. There will be no record. He can go do whatever he wants. I could care less.”

Joseph also confirmed that Roger Miret (Agnostic Front) was asked to join Cro-Mags in the early 1980s:

“Homeboy [Harley] had the audacity to say, like, ‘I wonder what would’ve happened if we would’ve got Roger instead of [John].’ It’s, like, you wouldn’t have gotten ‘The Age Of Quarrel’. That’s what would’ve happened. And that’s no disrespect to Roger. He’s done great with AGNOSTIC FRONT. It’s a different vocal style. I got respect for Roger and everything he’s done over the years in AGNOSTIC FRONT. That’s not a dig at him. But it’s my fucking band. I was in there since day one. The original lineup wasn’t even Mackie and Parris. It was me, him on bass, Dave Stein and Dave Hahn, the BAD BRAINS manager. We rehearsed for months. I mean, it’s in The Big Takeover magazine. There’s the proof. All this shit, I’m not the original singer and all this, is nonsense. It’s always been to try to discredit me for whatever reason. I could care less.”

Joseph has since issued a statement as well:

“I was the original [CRO-MAGS] singer in 1981. When the band broke up in August of 1981 after months of rehearsals — due to reasons the late Dave Hahn gave in The Big Takeover magazine (in the comments). The bass player then formed a cover song band called, ‘THE DISCO SMOOTHIES’ which I wanted nothing to do with. John Berry (RIP),who was a friend, sang at that one show at the Peppermint Lounge. it was not billed as the CRO-MAGS.

I was glad to be a part of that band over the years, write lyrics, and sing on ‘The Age Of Quarrel’ as well as other records.

‘The Age Of Quarrel’ has stood the test of time because it came from a good place. We were all 100% invested. It was never about money or ego. We were on a mission, and that translated to the live performances as well.

I’ve moved on for good from anything involving the CRO-MAGS, as I feel its far better to let the legacy of what once was, remain a part of the history that can never be re-lived, re-written, imitated, RE-RECORDED, or erased by anyone.”

  • Mudvayne Have Reportedly Remixed Their Latest Singles

Mudvayne have reportedly released new versions of “Sticks And Stones” and “Hurt People Hurt People“ through Spotify, Apple Music, etc. The tacks were apparently remixed by Dave Fortman after the band took issue with Josh Wilbur’s original mix.

Fortman said the following (via Reddit):

“The original mixes weren’t demos. They were mixed by Josh Wibur but the band wasn’t happy with the results and the fans were unhappy as well according to feedback I got from their management. They called me to remix them so I took the same approach that I mixed ‘Lost And Found‘ with. Seems to have worked! Glad you guys are digging it. I threw an entirely different spin on the intro and break of ‘Sticks And Stones‘ with added piano notes and strings. Nothing has been rerecorded thats just me laying some ‘tickles’ in there. Enjoy!”

Notably, 7″ vinyl pressings have been delayed as well. Mudvayne said the following about that:

“Thank you for ordering the ‘Sticks & Stone’/’Hurt People Hurt People’ 7″ vinyl. We understand how much you are looking forward to getting yours and have an update on its status.

Due to our desire to make the audio perfect, mastering took longer than planned. In addition, an unanticipated production delay in the vinyl world means the new delivery date is early April 2026.

If you want to keep your order, no action is needed. You will get an email once it ships. To cancel, please contact our customer service team for help.

    Thanks for your support”

  • Roger Waters Doesn’t Regret His Ozzy Osbourne Comments

Last summer, Roger Waters (ex-Pink Floyd) caused controversy after blasting the late Ozzy Osbourne. According to him, the Black Sabbath frontman “was all over the TV for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense.” Despite the backlash, Waters has since confirmed that he has no regrets.

Waters said the following during an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored“:

“Those comments, I’m not denying that I said them, came in the middle of a long interview… Do I have to like every rock group there ever was in the world or people who bite the heads off bats?”

He continued when asked if he had to express this opinion shortly after Osbourne’s death:

“Obviously I had no idea that Sharon Osbourne would be watching a podcast by a very well-known and respected cartoonist in-conversation.”

He also added the following when asked if he wants to apologize to Sharon Osbourne:

“Yeah of course I will, If I caused — not that I have any time for Sharon Osbourne. She’s a raging Zionist and in consequence… she’s constantly accused me of all kinds of things because she is part of the Israeli lobby.”

He then went on to say the following when asked if he wants to apologize to the other Osbournes:

“Not really. Well Jack. Jack Osbourne [laughs]. If he wants to have a chat, I’ll have a chat with him, I promise you, and I won’t be nasty to him. Well, I’m, you know, yeah, I’m sorry you lost your dad, Jack, but this is like, you have conversations about things and about people, ‘what do you think?’ Well, ‘not a lot.’ I was honest.

I said I didn’t like Black Sabbath… I’ve listened to some of it since. And the music is perfectly kind of acceptable. It was all the kind of histrionics of I don’t like people who bite the heads off bats. I just don’t. I think it’s disgusting, and I’ve said that again now. I know he’s dead, and he can’t come back and go, ‘Yeah, I’m sorry I bit the heads off bats,’ if he ever did. Who knows whether he did or not? I don’t want to talk about it.’”

    Waters also expressed no regrets:

“I regret nothing in life, except that I haven’t been more successful in getting people to understand how important it is that we as a human race recognize and empathize with all of our brothers and sisters all over the world and make certain that they have equal human rights, one with another, under international law. The Osbourne family? No, I’m not that interested in them.”

  • NOFX Announce “40 Years Of Fuckin’ Up” Documentary

NOFX have announced a new documentary titled “40 Years Of Fuckin’ Up.” The film is currently in post-production and it will be screened at Brushy Street Commons in Austin, TX on March 15 and March 16. The events will include Q&A sessions and tickets can be found HERE. Further screenings are also planned for April with tickets set to go on sale February 20.

The film was directed by James Buddy and it will feature all four members, vocalist/bassist Fat Mike, guitarist Eric Melvin, guitarist Aaron ‘El Hefe’ Abeyta, and drummer Erik Sandin. The musicians will also serve as executive producers for the documentary alongside Gary Ousdahl, James Buddy Day, Cisco Adler, and Jon Nadeau for Pyramid Productions.

Notably, the film will feature new music from NOFX as well. The new tracks can only be heard during the upcoming film screenings.

    Fat Mike commented:

“Most people wouldn’t be OK with releasing a film that shows footage of getting whipped in their dungeon, or their drug use for the past 20 years, or dressing up like a rubber cheap whore, or the ambulance ride when they were naked while puking and shitting blood… I’m not like most people.”

    Buddy Day added:

“Working with Fat Mike, the band, and the entire NOFX crew has been like nothing I’ve ever experienced. This is the punkest band ever — and their story is exactly as insane as you’d expect: hilarious, painful, reckless, and deeply human. Digging through decades of footage, I saw things I’ll never unsee — but that honesty is what makes this film essential.”
