The Halo Effect Hoping To Have New Music “Ready Before Next Summer”

It looks like The Halo Effect (ex-In Flames, etc.) are planning to release new music next year. Vocalist Mikael Stanne told Overdrive.ie the following about that:

“We’re gonna try and go back into the studio and finish up the next record. Maybe not a full-length, but like an EP or something. I’m gonna be on tour [this] winter with Dark Tranquillity. But then at the end of the year, we’re gonna record some new stuff and hopefully have something ready before next summer so that we can play longer sets, basically… Because it’s been weird playing the entire album at some of the festival shows we’ve done. Also, we did it before the album came out, which nobody does. So, yeah, that was kind of strange.”

The Halo Effect (Ex-In Flames, Etc.) Share Footage From Rooftop Concert In Gothenburg, Sweden

The Halo Effect (ex-In Flames, etc.) have shared footage of a rooftop concert that they recently played in Gothenburg, Sweden. You can check that out below:

Vocalist Mikael Stanne commented:

“Here it is finally! Previously only available to Fanvault members and the people who came to see us in Stockholm and Gothenburg as we screened this in theatres. The idea was to tie this band to our hometown and going down to the harbour and rocking out on a rooftop overlooking the city seemed like the perfect fit for us. The downside was of course that we had to do this in the freezing cold winter due to touring schedules getting in the way.

Strangely enough this was actually the first ever time we played these songs together and it was an absolute blast. We did a few takes just to get it right and in between we had to run inside, wrap ourselves in blankets and drink copious amounts of steaming hot coffee only to run out again and do it all over again. We hope you guys enjoy this taste of what The Halo Effect live looks and feels like and we cannot wait to see you guys out on the road. View this on the biggest screen in the house and turn it all the way up! Cheers!”

The Halo Effect (Ex-In Flames) Premiere “In Broken Trust” Music Video

The Halo Effect, the band featuring former In Flames members Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson, have premiered a new video for their new song “In Broken Trust.” This track is from the group’s new album “Days Of The Lost,” which was released today (August 12). Stanne commented:

“The song is about betrayal. Either to oneself or onto others. The clinical and unaffected truth might be hard to achieve but the further we stray from it the harder everything gets. This turned out to be a huge song and landing on this structure and feel took a few tries but I love how it came out and having this come out as the album drops feels incredible. Enjoy!”

The Halo Effect (Ex-In Flames) Premiere New Song “The Needless End”

The Halo Effect, the band featuring former In Flames members Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson, have premiered a new song titled “The Needless End.” This track is from the band’s new album “Days Of The Lost,” which will be released on August 12. Stanne commented:

“‘The Needless End‘ deals with the crippling inability to deal with abstract problems. Issues that just seem too huge or incomprehensible falls by the wayside in order to deal with more immediate but less important issues. We end up somewhere not because we want to but because we were unable to understand what we needed to do. There is an intensity to this song and a uplifting melody that I think suits this idea. Among all the anger and resentment it’s also hopeful and has an infectious groove and drive.”

The Halo Effect (Ex-In Flames) Premiere “Days Of The Lost” Music Video

The Halo Effect, the new band featuring former In Flames members Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson, have premiered a new video for the title track of their new album “Days Of The Lost.” That effort will be released on August 12.

Stanne commented:

“‘Days Of The Lost’ is about finding your place in life, about making that outcast experience into something that propels you forward.

We all met in our mid-teens and we were all trying to find direction, motivation and meaning. Thankfully, we found it in creativity and music and we shared this passion and made something from it that remains an essential part of who we are as individuals and as parts of a whole.

So this is us reflecting on our past, while watching a new generation slowly but surely find their path. It’s about standing up, being your true self and about not letting anything stand in your way.

Our choices and our paths have led to all kinds of things but we wouldn’t change a thing.”

The Halo Effect (Ex-In Flames) Tease New Song “Days Of The Lost”

The Halo Effect, the new band featuring former In Flames members Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson, have shared a teaser for their new song “Days Of The Lost.” A music video for the track will debut on April 13.

The Halo Effect (Ex-In Flames) Premiere “Feel What I Believe” Music Video

The Halo Effect, the new band featuring former In Flames members Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson, have premiered a new video for their new song “Feel What I Believe.” You can check that out below:

Stanne commented:

“‘Feel What I Believe’ is basically about how it felt growing up and discovering extreme metal in our late teens. Delving into something that was both frightening and alluring at the same time. And having that as the sole focus as you started playing in a band and in essence decided who you wanted to be. That confidence and laser focus is what still fascinates me. I love that this somehow endured over the years. This is basically us at 19 screaming, ‘How don’t you understand this?’ And even if people around us didn’t get it at the time, at least they could see our passion for it and that’s what this song is about.

The video is also reminiscent of the videos we saw growing up. A bunch of long-haired people in an abandoned warehouse playing loud music while trying to look cool, basically. What we did here though is bring it to another level thanks to Theo Gabay and his amazing team. I love that it captures the vibe of us playing and really enjoying what we do. Also it looks spectacular.”

The Halo Effect (Ex-In Flames) Premiere “Shadowminds” Music Video

The Halo Effect, the new band featuring former In Flames members Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson, have premiered a new video for their new song “Shadowminds.” The group had the following to say about that:

“We are incredibly excited to unveil this new band with one of the first songs that we wrote together. We felt strongly that this was the right direction for the band. Finding identity, finding a drive and passion is what the song is about and also what this band is about. What drove us to do this in the first place, what obstacles have we overcome in order to fully commit to this lifestyle? It’s about how easy it is to get lost if you lose focus and passion for what you do. With the video we wanted to convey the emptiness of the city in the early stages of the pandemic and what we saw outside of the studio as we were writing but we also love the cool dystopic imagery so we made the city look even more barren and destroyed. Enjoy!”

The Halo Effect (Ex-In Flames) Sign With Nuclear Blast Records

The Halo Effect, the new band featuring former In Flames members Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson, have officially signed with Nuclear Blast Records. The group’s first single “Shadowminds” will be released on November 9.

The band commented:

“Having grown up alongside Nuclear Blast in the early days of extreme metal, it just makes perfect sense for The Halo Effect to partner with this prestigous label. Our music holds true to our roots and what made us who we are today while trusting our shared experiences to move forward. Joining our old and new friends at Nuclear Blast Records is an honour and a privilege and we look forward to to releasing this labour of love for metal together!”

Nuclear Blast Europe‘s head of A&R Jens Prueter added:

“In 2009 I was going to Gothenburg to produce the ‘Where Death Is Most Alive‘ documentary for a Dark Tranquillity DVD. Getting deeper into the Gothenburg scene, going through hours of archive footage and listening to all the interviews, I though it was a jungle of incest.

In the early 90s a bunch of guys moved between In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Ceremonial Oath, Hammerfall and many more. We shouldn’t forget that most of the protagonists were still teenagers when they released their first ‘Desecrator‘ or ‘Septic Broiler‘ demo tapes. What looked like incest was just a group of friends who shared a deep passion for metal.

You could call it an all-star band but it’s basically just an all-family band. Listening to The Halo Effect is like going to a New Year’s dinner enjoying the best food and drinks of the year. And it’s a pleasure to be invited and share the joy with the rest of the world. Cheers!”

As previously reported, The Halo Effect will be opening for Amon Amarth and Machine Head on their co-headlining European/UK tour next year.
