Autopsy Part Ways With Bassist Joe Trevisano

Autopsy have parted ways with Joe Trevisano. The bassist is leaving the group to focus on his family life.

The band commented:

“Autopsy news update…

Surreal as it is, our long time bass player and friend Joe Trevisano has left the band.

Joe has been making records and kicking ass on stage all over the world with us for the entire chapter two of Autopsy going back to 2008. And before that he was in Abscess going back to 1997, and even before that…we knew Joe from the local scene around 1991 when he was in Von, so we have a long history together. Let it be known the split is on good terms.

Joe has decided to shift his focus to his family and we support him on this 100% and will always consider him part of the Autopsy gang.

In the meantime fear not, Autopsy will continue to forge ahead and we will keep you all posted on developments. We are not done crushing your skulls yet, so consider yourselves warned.”

Bloodbath & Autopsy To Release New Split 7″

Bloodbath and Autopsy will celebrating Peaceville‘s 30th anniversary with a new split 7″. The effort will be available on December 15, and it will feature Bloodbath’s cover of Cancer‘s “Blood Bath” and Autopsy’s cover of “Fuck You!!!” from the 1980s West Oakland group Bloodbath. You can preorder it HERE.

Bloodbath commented:

“Most of you would know this already, but for those of you who don’t, it was the title of the first song, on the first album by UK death metallers Cancer, which we originally lifted our band name from. Now with Peaceville celebrating its 30th anniversary, there would be no better token than offering this cover song to glorify the old school, brutal and trashy death metal legacy of Cancer fucking Cancer, once more! And as if it couldn’t get any better, we’ve the honor to split these seven inches with gore legends Autopsy who also bathe in their own blood!”

Autopsy added:

“‘Fuck You!!!‘ is a cover song of a cover song….and the only song we’ve ever considered covering. Eric and I loved the version that Danny‘s old band Bloodbath did before we even knew Danny, let alone knowing that he’d end up joining Autopsy. And Danny didn’t even know it was a cover song at the time! Got it? It’s a crazy world and a crazy song.

It’s also a cool tribute to Dane Petersen (R.I.P.), the original Bloodbath vocalist. We feel we gave it the treatment it deserved….now it’s up to you to crank it up and hold those middle fingers high!.”

Autopsy To Release “After The Cutting” Four Disc Set & “Skull Grinder” Album In November

Looks like November will be a good month for Autopsy fans. The band have announced that they will be releasing a new four disc set titled After The Cutting, on November 13, which will be followed by a new album titled Skull Grinder. The four disc set will include classic songs, new tracks (including Skull Grinder), rarities and a special book penned by Dennis Dread. Skull Grinder itself will be available on vinyl for Record Store Day’s Black Friday (November 27), with a 2016 CD release still pending.

Autopsy issued the following statement:

“We at AUTOPSY HQ are pleased to have the opportunity to once again torture your minds and ear holes through the medium of recorded brutality.

“The band went back to Fantasy Studios in Berkeley in late July to record a brand new release called ‘Skull Grinder’. Musically, it’s just what you’d expect from us; no style changes, wimpouts, sellouts, settling down or caving in. Add to that acknowledgement of the obvious, some of Wes Benscoter’s sickest art yet to (dis)grace the cover, and you have a new sledgehammer to the bowels with no apologies offered whatsoever.

“In case that isn’t enough to bring the taste of bile into the back of your throat, let it be known that there is also a four-disc set on the way titled ‘After The Cutting’, packed with hours of horrifying music, cover art from none other than Kev Walker as well as an extensive book written by Dennis Dread, riddled with interviews, photos and other assorted uncleanliness. The release date for both of these monstrosities is slated for this coming November. More details are forthcoming…”
