The Halo Effect (Ex-In Flames) Sign With Nuclear Blast Records

The Halo Effect, the new band featuring former In Flames members Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson, have officially signed with Nuclear Blast Records. The group’s first single “Shadowminds” will be released on November 9.

The band commented:

“Having grown up alongside Nuclear Blast in the early days of extreme metal, it just makes perfect sense for The Halo Effect to partner with this prestigous label. Our music holds true to our roots and what made us who we are today while trusting our shared experiences to move forward. Joining our old and new friends at Nuclear Blast Records is an honour and a privilege and we look forward to to releasing this labour of love for metal together!”

Nuclear Blast Europe‘s head of A&R Jens Prueter added:

“In 2009 I was going to Gothenburg to produce the ‘Where Death Is Most Alive‘ documentary for a Dark Tranquillity DVD. Getting deeper into the Gothenburg scene, going through hours of archive footage and listening to all the interviews, I though it was a jungle of incest.

In the early 90s a bunch of guys moved between In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Ceremonial Oath, Hammerfall and many more. We shouldn’t forget that most of the protagonists were still teenagers when they released their first ‘Desecrator‘ or ‘Septic Broiler‘ demo tapes. What looked like incest was just a group of friends who shared a deep passion for metal.

You could call it an all-star band but it’s basically just an all-family band. Listening to The Halo Effect is like going to a New Year’s dinner enjoying the best food and drinks of the year. And it’s a pleasure to be invited and share the joy with the rest of the world. Cheers!”

As previously reported, The Halo Effect will be opening for Amon Amarth and Machine Head on their co-headlining European/UK tour next year.

Former In Flames Bassist Peter Iwers Takes A Stand Against Bullying With AUAB

AUAB (Artists United Against Bullying), a project launched by Paulo Mendonça and former In Flames bassist Peter Iwers in an effort to raise awareness about the “destructive consequences of bullying,” have shared a new video for a new song titled “Hero.” The track features Iwers and Mendonça alongside Jeff Scott Soto (Sons Of Apollo, etc.), Anton Roos (Saffire), and Fredrik Stenberg (Road Ratt).

AUAB commented:

“People in all ages being treated unfair and disrespectful for different reasons. It is something that we see in the schoolyards, in the locker rooms, at the offices, on the Internet and the social media platforms. And even in bands.

Bullying is not always something that is easy to detect but if we can give attention to the problem, the awareness increases. By talking and telling each other’s stories, we can make people aware and through that make a change together.

So why do we do this?

We want to put a spotlight on the problem and make people aware of the problem and consequences that come through bullying.

So what do we have in common? We are two guys who share the view of human equality and the love for music. We want to make people aware through the music that we make.

Our goal is to create a forum for people who want to share their stories and to create awareness all over.

If we could contribute to a place where people can get support from each other, that would be something worth working for.

You don’t have to be a hero, just a friend to wash away the pain. A small compliment or just letting someone know that they’re not alone can make the big difference.

Join us, we can make that difference.”

Peter Iwers (Ex-In Flames) Exits CyHra, Band Premiere “Here To Save You” Video

CyHra have parted ways with bassist Peter Iwers (ex-In Flames). No replacement has been recruited so the band will use backing tracks for now. They said the following:

“It’s sad to part ways with Peter as a member, but we are still very good friends and will always be. He has our full support in this decision and we wish him nothing else than the best in the future!”

In other news the group have also premiered a new video for “Here To Save You.” Jake E (ex-Amaranthe) commented:

“Releasing “Here To Save You” as a live video was something that we thought of already after finishing up the song in the demo studio. And as we got the possibility to open up for Sabaton and Kreator a couple of months back it was a no-brainer to just make sure to put it on film.

I love how we were able to capture all the positive response, both within the band but also all the love we got for our newfound fans in the US & Canada. Every time I watch it I just want to go back out on the road! I hope you will like it as much as we do!”

Peter Iwers (Ex-In Flames) To Miss CyHra’s North American Tour

Bassist Peter Iwers (ex-In Flames) will be missing CyHra’s upcoming tour with Sabaton and Kreator. The band commented:

“Unfortunately our master of the low frequencies Mr. Peter Iwers has to step out from our North American Tour with Sabaton & Kreator due to prior agreements. But don’t worry you’ll still hear his bass lines ‘cos of our trusted “sixth member” Mr. ASUS ;-)”

Ex-In Flames, Ex-Amaranthe, Etc. Members Join Forces In CyHra

Former In Flames members Jesper Strömblad and Peter Iwers have joined forces with Jake E (ex-Amaranthe) and Alex Landenburg (Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody) in a new band called CyHra. The band are expected to release their debut album this fall.

Jake E. told Bravewords the following:

“I formed CyHra with a guitar hero of mine, Jesper Strömblad of In Flames. Me and Jesper have been friends for many years. We’re from the same city and I used to do pyrotechnics for In Flames way back in the day, so we became friends when we were on tour.”

He continued:

“At the end of 2015, beginning of 2016 we met at a bar and I told Jesper I was thinking about doing a solo album. He told me that he had also wanted to do a solo album and asked if I would sing on it. I suggested he play guitar on my solo album, and that’s when Jesper had the idea that we should do something together.”

He also added the following about the band’s sound:

“You can hear that CyHra is metal but over the eight years that I was with Amaranthe, I became really inspired by bands like Bring Me The Horizon, 30 Seconds To Mars, Sixx:A.M. and bands like that. There are heavy guitars, heavy drums, heavy bass, but you also have a bit more of this melancholic feeling in some of the CyHra songs. That’s why I said the music sounds a bit more modern. As you get older you evolve as a songwriter and CyHra is the result of that.”

As a result, this current US tour will be my last one with In Flames so if you are around, come and say hi.

It has been almost 20 years of fun and I am eternally grateful to you all for all the support you have given me and the rest of the guys throughout all these years.

You made it all possible.

Now is the time for me to move on with other musical and non musical adventures.
