Malefic Throne (Morbid Angel, Origin, Etc.) Premiere New Song “Deciding The Hierarchy”

Malefic Throne, the new project featuring Gene Palubicki (Perdition Temple), Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel), and John Longstreth (Origin, Hate Eternal), have premiered a new song titled “Deciding The Hierarchy.” This track is from the band’s upcoming self-titled EP, which will be released through Hells Headbangers. Palubicki said the following about the project:

“Malefic Throne was conceived over conversations and shared ideas among the three of us since around summer of 2020, deep in the early pandemic upheaval, while everyone was — and has been — in limbo for live shows/tours/etc. We hit on the idea of just going for it, writing some furious death metal material with the three of us, and seeing what would happen. Given who the bandmembers are, it is surely clear the nature of what this is all about. We originally considered just doing an independently released demo, but we approached Hells Headbangers to see if they were interested in handling the debut EP release. They agreed, and onward it goes.”

New Cannibal Corpse Guitarist Erik Rutan Still Plans To Continue With Hate Eternal

As previously reported, Erik Rutan has officially joined Cannibal Corpse as their new guitarist. Now, the musician has issued a statement regarding his new role, while also confirming that he is still planning to continue with Hate Eternal.

Rutan said the following:

“I felt it very important to personally share some big news with all of you today…. I am officially joining Cannibal Corpse! I am super excited and honored and honestly it still seems a bit surreal. Cannibal Corpse has been a big part of my life and career having listened to them for over 30 years, produced 5 albums with them, done many many tours together and having decades of friendships with everyone involved.

Anyone that knows me knows that I will give everything I have to being the best I can be with CC. For the new album “Violence Unimagined” I contributed and wrote 3 songs of music and lyrics as well as playing guitar, producing and mixing it at Mana Recording. I am very very proud of what we achieved together.

I have been sitting here today reflecting on my life and career and the journey to get here. 30 years ago I was recording my first album with Ripping Corpse at 19 years of age, then onto Morbid Angel, then starting and continuing with Hate Eternal and Mana Recording and now Cannibal Corpse. I feel so grateful to have been and still continue to be a part of this music that I feel so passionate about and embrace.

Hate Eternal will absolutely continue on.. JJ, Johnny and I look forward to recording another unrelenting Hate Eternal album in the future when the time is right. As many people know I have always done multiple things in my career and I plan on continuing that starting with Cannibal Corpse as well as Hate Eternal, Mana Recording, producing and other musical endeavors when time allows.

We will have some other great HE news to share in the near future and look forward to continuing down the path I have been a part of for decades. Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy and excited to what the future shall behold! Thank you all for your unwavering and undying support. It means the world to me. Eternal Gratitude… RUTAN“

Cannibal Corpse Recruit Hate Eternal’s Erik Rutan For Upcoming Tours

Cannibal Corpse have recruited guitarist Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal) for their upcoming tours. He will be filling in for Pat O’Brien, who was arrested on December 10, 2018 for burglary with assault and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer as his Northdale, FL home was burning. O’Brien has since been released and the band have said he is “getting the help he needs.”

The group commented:

“Cannibal Corpse have announced that Erik Rutan will fill in for guitarist Pat O’Brien as O’Brien tends to personal issues. Rutan will appear live with the band for the Decibel Magazine Tour and the upcoming US leg of Slayer‘s final tour happening this May alongside Slayer, Lamb of God, and Amon Amarth.

This won’t be the first time these death metal powerhouses have worked together; Rutan has produced four albums with Cannibal Corpse (Kill, Evisceration Plague, Torture, Red Before Black) and is uniquely equipped to fill the role – he is one of the death metal’s most acclaimed guitarists and is known for his time as part of Morbid Angel (who are co headlining the Decibel tour alongside Cannibal) throughout the 90s and early 2000s, as well as handling vocals/guitars and production duties for his current band Hate Eternal.”

Hate Eternal Premiere New Song “All Hope Destroyed”

Hate Eternal have premiered a new song titled “All Hope Destroyed,” via Kerrang!. This track is from the band’s new album “Upon Desolate Sands,” which will be released on October 26. Erik Rutan commented:

“‘All Hope Destroyed‘ is an anomaly on the new record. Controlled chaos, yet unbridled insanity, with a dramatic melodic ending. It encapsulates so much of who Hate Eternal are musically but also explores a bit of new territory that we’ve never fully realized before. This song is a unique entity on the new Hate Eternal album and one I believe truly shines.”

Hate Eternal Premiere New Song “Nothingness Of Being”

Hate Eternal have premiered a new song titled “Nothingness Of Being.” This track is from the band’s new album “Upon Desolate Sands,” which will be released on October 26.

Erik Rutan commented:

“For years I have wanted to add a heavier and darker element into Hate Eternal, and for years that vibe just never came to me. For this album the inspiration came and the heaviness followed. Using a lower tuning then our norm for a few songs on “Upon Desolate Sands” and going through some personal life experiences, helped create a depth of darkness and sense of despair to inspire me to write “Nothingness of Being”. I never have forced anything when it comes to the writing process, we just let the songs flow naturally and write and play what we feel. Crafting a couple of songs with a completely different tuning really helped direct a different path and direction for the writing process. This song amongst some of the more traditional chaotic tunes on the album helps really create a sense of dynamics in a dramatic way. Every song on this album has its own unique texture creating a vast landscape of musical expression and a multitude of emotions, pushing the envelope in every way we can!”
