Erik Rutan Shares Guitar Playthrough Of New Cannibal Corpse Song “Condemnation Contagion”

Cannibal Corpse guitarist Erik Rutan has shared a playthrough of the band’s new song “Condemnation Contagion.“ That track is from the group’s new album “Violence Unimagined,” which will be released on April 16.

Rutan told Guitar World the following:

“This was the last song I completed writing for our new album Violence Unimagined. I was writing it as COVID-19 was becoming a full-on pandemic. Heavy and dark in its origins, it came out to be a song like nothing I have ever written before.

Since the song has a lot of two guitar-part harmonies and counterpoint, for this video I chose to feature the parts that stick out to me the most during the song at specific moments. A majority of the song is ferociously down-picked interweaving with other subtle elements. The solo is one of my personal favorites on the album. It has a nice feel and flow to it.”

Cannibal Corpse’s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher Recalls The Time He Hung Out With Cher

During an interview with Metal Hammer, Cannibal Corpse’s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher revealed that he once hung out with Cher at her house. The meeting happened about 15-20 years ago when the band were asked to perform at a birthday party for Cher‘s son Elijah Blue Allman (Deadsy).

Fisher said the following about the experience:

“Cher’s son Elijah, who is in the band Deadsy, is a big Cannibal Corpse fan and maybe 15 or 20 years ago he wanted us to come out to LA and play his birthday party at the Viper Room. His birthday is two days after mine, so my wife and I went out a few days early: ‘Let’s just fly out there, hang around for a few days, then we’ll play the show.’

The day before the show, Elijah invited us up to Cher’s house. When we got there, she wasn’t there – she was out shopping. I was like, ‘Yeah, of course Cher’s out shopping.’ But I didn’t know that she came back. I was talking to Elijah, and my wife starts hitting me on the arm. I go, ‘What?’ And she just whispers: ‘Cher!’ I’m like, ‘Ok, that’s cool, but it’s not like meeting King Diamond or Chuck Billy’, cos I’m in awe of those guys.

She was super-nice. We’re there and Cher is making food for us, and stuff. She came to the show as well. I apologized to her for having to listen to Cannibal Corpse, but she was, like, ‘No, I liked it.’ I’m, like, ‘Come on Cher, do the metal sign.’ And she goes, ‘Honey, I was metal before you were born.’ I’m, like, ‘Damn – I just got owned by Cher!’”

Cannibal Corpse Drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz Declines To Comment On Former Guitarist Pat O’Brien

As previously reported, Cannibal Corpse recently confirmed that Hate Eternal’s Erik Rutan has officially joined the band as their permanent guitarist. However, they never addressed the departure of former guitarist Pat O’Brien, who was arrested in 2018 for burglary with assault and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer as his Northdale, FL home was burning. Now, during an interview with Rock Talks, drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz was asked about his relationship with O’Brien and he responded with the following: “No comment on that.”

The limited edition set will feature eight albums from the label’s history, a podcast series, deluxe liner notes, and a photo booklet. Pre-orders can be found HERE.

Courtney Catagnus, Sr Director, Business Development & Partnerships, VMP, commented:

Cannibal Corpse Premiere “Inhumane Harvest” Music Video

Cannibal Corpse have premiered a new video for their latest single “Inhumane Harvest.” This track is from the band’s new album “Violence Unimagined,“ which will be released on April 16. Guitarist Rob Barrett commented:

“‘Inhumane Harvest‘ takes a look inside one of organized crime’s more sinister activities: the human organ trade. Desperate buyers will pay a high price for a much-needed organ transplant to either save themselves or a loved one from certain death, which makes for a lucrative business in underground crime rings.”

New Cannibal Corpse Guitarist Erik Rutan Still Plans To Continue With Hate Eternal

As previously reported, Erik Rutan has officially joined Cannibal Corpse as their new guitarist. Now, the musician has issued a statement regarding his new role, while also confirming that he is still planning to continue with Hate Eternal.

Rutan said the following:

“I felt it very important to personally share some big news with all of you today…. I am officially joining Cannibal Corpse! I am super excited and honored and honestly it still seems a bit surreal. Cannibal Corpse has been a big part of my life and career having listened to them for over 30 years, produced 5 albums with them, done many many tours together and having decades of friendships with everyone involved.

Anyone that knows me knows that I will give everything I have to being the best I can be with CC. For the new album “Violence Unimagined” I contributed and wrote 3 songs of music and lyrics as well as playing guitar, producing and mixing it at Mana Recording. I am very very proud of what we achieved together.

I have been sitting here today reflecting on my life and career and the journey to get here. 30 years ago I was recording my first album with Ripping Corpse at 19 years of age, then onto Morbid Angel, then starting and continuing with Hate Eternal and Mana Recording and now Cannibal Corpse. I feel so grateful to have been and still continue to be a part of this music that I feel so passionate about and embrace.

Hate Eternal will absolutely continue on.. JJ, Johnny and I look forward to recording another unrelenting Hate Eternal album in the future when the time is right. As many people know I have always done multiple things in my career and I plan on continuing that starting with Cannibal Corpse as well as Hate Eternal, Mana Recording, producing and other musical endeavors when time allows.

We will have some other great HE news to share in the near future and look forward to continuing down the path I have been a part of for decades. Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy and excited to what the future shall behold! Thank you all for your unwavering and undying support. It means the world to me. Eternal Gratitude… RUTAN“

Cannibal Corpse Officially Welcome Erik Rutan To The Band, Premiere New Song “Inhumane Harvest”

Cannibal Corpse have officially welcomed guitarist Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal) to the band as a replacement for Pat O’Brien, who was arrested in 2018. With this news, the band have also premiered a new song titled “Inhumane Harvest.” This track is from the band’s new album “Violence Unimagined,“ which will be released on April 16. The cover art and track listing for that effort were revealed yesterday and can be found HERE.

Alex Webster said the following about recruiting Rutan:

“I think the most noticeable difference on this record will be the addition of Erik to the band. He wrote three full songs for the record, music and lyrics, and his song writing and guitar playing have added something new, and I think his musical style integrated into ours very well.”

“He’s a great friend of ours, so on a personal level, he’s been a perfect fit, as we knew he would be. Beyond that, he’s one of the hardest working people I know, in music or otherwise, and he maintains a high energy, positive demeanor in challenging situations where other people might go in a negative direction. This energy and great attitude rubs off on the rest of us as well. That’s really a perfect situation to have when you add someone to a band, or any kind of team: someone who’s great at what they do, and also inspires the people around them.”

He also added the following about the album:

“It really follows the path we’ve been going down for a few years now. I think we approach the writing in a similar way most every time: each of us try to write the heaviest, most memorable songs we can. We want each song to have its own identifiable character. Showing my age, I like to say you can ‘drop the needle’ on any point of one of our albums and quickly tell which song you’re listening to.”
