Phil Anselmo was recently interviewed by Ghost Cult and talked about all the new music he has in the works. Among those is a new EP from Scour (Cattle Decapitation, Pig Destroyer, etc.) and a new Philip H. Anselmo And The Illegals release.
Anselmo said the following:
“I’m sitting on top of so much music right now… But yes, I’m sitting on many records of many different styles. And Scour is… It’s great that it’s happening actually as… gigs and now with the new EP we can actually do this thing called a full set.”
He also added:
“I’ve got a new Illegals coming out and it is way different than the first, that’s all I’ll say. I’ve got this other project, I don’t want to name it yet. It’s kind of clandestine, but it’s an expression. And then I’m sitting on the new Scour and I’m sitting on another project that is absolutely extreme, but in way, way different direction.
And it’s actually, a lot of the music I would say… A great percentage of the music is stuff that I originally started writing to begin with. So it’s like the longest music that has grown up with me and finally over the last, past year and a half or something like that, we just sat down, we got the right players and everybody contributed and next thing you know it was just… [a] a two week long jam session and I think we came out of it with three albums.”
In other news, you can also see footage of Scour performing covers of Bathory‘s “Massacre” and Pantera‘s “Strength Beyond Strength“ during their June 14 show at the Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY below:
