• Deftones’ Chino Moreno On “Around The Fur”: “It’s One Of My Favorites — If Not My Favorite Record — Of Ours”

During a recent interview with Revolver, Deftones frontman Chino Moreno shared some love for the band’s 1997 album “Around The Fur.“ According to him, “it’s one of [his] favorites — if not [his] favorite record” they have done.

Moreno said the following while commenting on the band’s decision to record their latest album, “private music,” in different cities over a longer period of time:

“There’s something special about each thing. With ‘Around The Fur‘, that was written and recorded in Seattle at Studio Litho, which is Stone [Gossard] from Pearl Jam’s studio. We did that really quick. There was something about catching lightning in a bottle with that record. Still to this day, it’s one of my favorites — if not my favorite record — of ours. It’s this unbridled energy that we captured in that moment. That record definitely stood the test of time. And I love it for that.

I think we’re a little spoiled now. We all like to be home, so being in one place for four months would probably not be the most comfortable thing for any of us. At the age we are now, even touring, we try not to tour over a month at a time until we take a break. But as far as being in different places, I think there’s something neat about that, too. Some of the songs on the new record were literally inspired by a morning swim on Zuma Beach [in Malibu].

I came back from swimming and sat down with my guitar and came up with the song ‘i think about you all the time‘. It was literally just a moment in time that wouldn’t have happened if I would’ve been locked away in a studio somewhere else, perhaps. The Joshua Tree sessions, I feel like those songs capture us being in the desert in July, hot as shit. I think every place helped shape the songs and gives the album a little bit more dynamic ebb and flow.”

  • Three Members Of Dogma Say They Were Replaced After Facing “Manipulation,” “Mistreatment,” Etc.

Former members of Dogma have addressed the current state of the band following the recent postponements of their shows in Anaheim, CA and Reno, NV. Vocalist Grace Jane Pasturini (Lilith) and guitarists Amber Maldonado (Lamia) and Patri Grief (Rusalka) issued a statement, claiming they were replaced amid “unilateral decisions, broken promises, manipulation, mistreatment, and lies to the fans.”

The three musicians said the following:

    “We were part of Dogma.

We loved this project, but what’s being sold today is not Dogma.

During the tours we saw unilateral decisions, broken promises, manipulation, mistreatment, and lies to the fans.

The person who now controls the project is a threat to Dogma’s future and is not an artist or a musician.

He turned a band into a brand, and people into disposable pieces.

He betrayed the artists, his partners, and the fans.

Dogma was born from connection, from the music, from the stories we shared with you.

Replacing people without honesty isn’t who we are. Dogma is meant to push the ideals of freedom and liberation, none of which can exist without integrity and honesty toward the fans and everyone involved in the project.

We don’t want to see more fans deceived, spending their money and devotion on something hollow.

The real Dogma stands here, with those who created that connection for real.

But the power isn’t in our hands.

It’s in yours. It always has been.

You decide who deserves to keep the music alive.

    No manager can control that.

    Make your voice heard.

    Don’t support a lie.

The social networks using the name “Official Dogma” no longer represent the real band or what we stand for.

Demand transparency. Ask for refunds if you weren’t given what you were promised.

    Don’t let anyone manipulate you.

    Also, no more masks.

Masks were meant to protect identity, not to replace people.

The only one who needs to take off the mask is him.

The power to change this story starts with your support.

    We will keep going.

The music, the creativity, and the truth are on our side.

We put our souls into this project, and that’s why you were able to connect with us. No manager should be allowed to strip that away.

    Lilith, Lamia & Rusalka”

The band have since issued a statement as well:

“We are aware of recent online statements by some former, non-original members of Dogma. While we respect everyone who has contributed to our journey, we want to be clear that Dogma has always been and will continue to be much bigger than any one individual.

Dogma was founded on creativity, collaboration, and evolution. Like any artistic project, change is part of our growth. Every member, past and present, has left a mark that helped shape who we are today, but Dogma’s vision and music continue to move forward through the dedication of the current team and the support of our fans. We are grateful for the time, energy, and moments that each member has shared with Dogma. Every contribution, big or small, became part of this journey and will always be appreciated and valued.

We remain fully committed to the values that define Dogma: authenticity, freedom of expression, and connection through art. Our focus is and always will be on the music, the message, and the community that has made this project what it is.

Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in Dogma and what we stand for, cause Dogma was never about who we are, it’s about what YOU choose to become…”

  • Saetia Remove Their Music From Spotify

Saetia are the latest band to remove their music from Spotify. The group issued a statement saying the company “does not at all align with [their] values or ethos.”

    Saetia said the following:

“AS MANY OF YOU HAVE NOTICED, SAETIA IS IN THE PROCESS OF REMOVING OUR MUSIC FROM SPOTIFY. ‘COLLECTED’ IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE, AND ‘TENDRILS’ WILL SOON BE OFF THE PLATFORM AS WELL. ULTIMATELY, WE DECIDED THAT SPOTIFY IN PARTICULAR DOES NOT AT ALL ALIGN WITH THE BAND’S VALUES OR ETHOS. WHETHER IT’S RUNNING ICE RECRUITMENT ADVERTISEMENTS OR PAYING ARTISTS FRACTIONS OF PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR WHILE SUBSIDIZING VOICES LIKE JOE ROGAN, WE JUST FELT IT WAS TIME TO SEPARATE OUR MUSIC FROM THEIR MESSAGE.

TO BE CLEAR, SAETIA IS NOT OPPOSED TO ACCESSING MUSIC ON STREAMING PLATFORMS. IN FACT, WE ACKNOWLEDGE (AND EVEN CELEBRATE!) THE FACT THAT THE MAJORITY OF SAETIA FANS DISCOVERED THE BAND BY WAY OF FILE SHARING AND STREAMING SERVICES. THIS DECISION HAS NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH ACCESS.

WE ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE AND ADMIT THAT WHILE WE ARE ESPECIALLY OUT OF SYNC WITH A COMPANY LIKE SPOTIFY, IT’S NOT LIKE WE ARE IN LOCKSTEP WITH OTHER CORPORATIONS CURRENTLY STREAMING OUR MUSIC. THE REALITY IS THAT ACROSS THE WORLD, OVER 1.5 BILLION PEOPLE ARE STREAMING MUSIC. IN THE US, ONLY 10% OF MUSIC LISTENERS ACTUALLY BUY PHYSICAL MEDIA. THIS REALITY MEANS SMALL DIY BANDS LIKE OURSELVES HAVE DIFFICULT DECISIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS WHEN FACED WITH A LANDSCAPE THAT IS ENGINEERED TO PRIORITIZE ACCESS OVER ETHICS. WHATEVER COMPROMISES COME WITH BEING AN ARTIST IN 2025, WE CAN STILL DO SMALL THINGS THAT FEEL RIGHT TO US, SO THAT IS WHAT WE DID.

TO SOME OF YOU, WE ARE CAUSING A HEADACHE AND INCONVENIENCE AND TO OTHERS, WE ARE PROBABLY NOT DOING ENOUGH. ALTHOUGH WE CAN’T POSSIBLY BE EVERYTHING TO EVERYBODY, WE NEED TO MAKE THE DECISIONS THAT MAKE SENSE TO US AND SPEAK TO OUR BELIEFS. TO THOSE OF YOU WHO PURCHASED OR DOWNLOADED OUR MUSIC – MAKE COPIES FOR YOUR FRIENDS THAT TYPICALLY STREAM US ON SPOTIFY.

OUR MUSIC HAS BEEN SHARED ACROSS THIS COMMUNITY FOR 25 YEARS AND WE HAVE SEEN FIRST HAND THAT THE CONNECTIONS YOU MAKE SHARING MUSIC WILL MEAN MORE THAN A SAETIA LISTING ON YOUR ANNUAL SPOTIFY WRAPPED.

THANKS FOR LISTENING AND TAKE CARE OF ONE ANOTHER.”
