• Dope’s Edsel Dope Coments On Chuck D And John Densmore Calling Their New Band doPE

Chuck D (Public Enemy) and John Densmore (The Doors) recently announced plans to release a new album, titled “no country for old men,” on April 18 under the name doPE. As such, they have now received a response from Dope’s Edsel Dope.

    Edsel said the following:

    “Yooooooo!

I am a huge fan of Chuck D, Public Enemy, and the Doors, so the last thing that I want to do is interrupt a creative endeavor from two legends that I admire and respect.

However, it is important for me to highlight the 25 years I have devoted to building a band/brand, which has found a good bit of success and built a sizable fan base around the globe.

Those 4 letters “dope” have been tattooed on my knuckles since 1998.

I appropriately registered the artist name dope and I have owned the Trademark, ever since I hit the scene, more than 25 years ago…

Unfortunately for Chuck and John, choosing to call themselves doPE would invite a good bit of market confusion, especially on the streaming services like Spotify, where I have more than a million monthly listeners, along with several hundred million combined streams…

The paperwork is up to date, and my rights regarding the name are indisputable.

Next to the two of you, I humbly consider myself “the little guy”.

So if YOU TWO LEGENDS are committed to using MY FOUR LETTERS, Please hit me up directly, as I would love to be part of some form of collaborative effort with you.

I know every word from Apocalypse 91 & I have smoked more weed listening to The Doors than one could ever imagine.

LOVE AND RESPECT TO YOU BOTH!

    –Edsel Dope“

  • Ashley Walters’ Sexual Battery Lawsuit Against Marilyn Manson Successfully Revived

As previously reported, Marilyn Manson’s former assistant Ashley Walters recently attempted to revive her sexual battery lawsuit against the singer after it was dismissed for a second time. Now, according to Rolling Stone, a judge has granted her request.

Walters initially filed the suit after accusing the shock rocker of sexual assault, sexual battery, sexual harassment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and more. However, a judge ruled that the case was not exempt from the statute of limitations and Walters’ claims of suppressed memories were not enough to revive it.

Despite this, Walters was able to use statue AB 250 to move the case forward. That law allows adult survivors of sexual assault to revive civil suits that were halted by the statute of limitations between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027.

    Manson’s lawyer Howard King commented:

“Ashley Walters has been given the right to pursue a narrow claim of sexual assault under the newly enacted law, a claim that will not survive the next motion for summary judgment. The undeniable fact is that Mr. Warner never committed any sexual assault.”

As previously reported, Manson has been facing allegations from multiple women who came forward after being inspired by Evan Rachel Wood, who claimed that he “horrifically abused [her] for years.” Among those who shared their stories were Walters as well as Ashley Morgan Smithline, who accused him of sexual assault before recanting her statements, Esmé Bianco, who settled a lawsuit in which she accused him of abuse and human trafficking, Bianca Allaine Kyne, who filed a lawsuit after claiming he sexually assaulted her when she was a minor, and one unidentified woman, who settled a rape and death threat lawsuit.

For his part, Manson has continued to deny the allegations, while also lamenting the impact they have had on his career. He also filed a lawsuit against Wood for defamation, but has since been ordered to pay her legal fees. Despite all this, the L.A. District Attorney previously confirmed that Manson won’t be facing any criminal charges.

  • Thrice, letlive., Etc. Condemn ICE

A number of rock/metal artists have taken to social media to condemn ICE. The government agency have continued to ramp up operations and infringe on people’s rights under Donald Trump. This is especially true in Minneapolis, MN, where citizens like Renee Good and Alex Pretti were murdered.

You can find comments from several artists below:

    Thrice:

“As should be overwhelmingly clear from our body of work, Thrice stands for love, empathy, and compassion for all people against all forms of oppression. This is simply a social and humanitarian stance, not a political one.

It should also be clear from our body of work that we advocate for being curious and open minded. It is a truly difficult thing to change one’s mind, but it is times like these that can push our cognitive dissonance to it’s breaking point and create the opportunity to really look at what we believe, and to assess the fruits of those beliefs.

We applaud and stand in solidarity the patriots in the streets of Minneapolis who are exercising their first amendment rights in support of their neighbors and in defiance of an increasingly authoritarian regime, and we mourn those who have lost their lives at the hands of state violence.
    ICE out!”

    letlive.:

“This project has always stood as an artistic witness to the world around us. It will always be utilized as mouthpiece for the truth we see it and an effort to encourage others to do the same. To speak candidly and confidently. Given this premise, we must state plainly and without compromise; letlive. condemn the murders committed by ICE agents in Minneapolis and the system that enables it.

A rejection of the agency itself—its methods, its presence and the devastating harm it continues to inflict on communities across this country. A nation with a glaringly multicultural tapestry must decide, plainly, where it stands.

We encourage our friends here to choose an act of resistance.

Whether through direct political engagement or via daily decisions to support or boycott. Resistance is not symbolic; it is active, deliberate, and necessary. Although the weight of such realities is all but crippling, we must call upon each other to help carry and eventually conquer this burden.

Ironically, amidst such tumult we are reminded that we must care for and protect ourselves and each other. To our friends and perceived enemies, we are being shown the distance between the people is much shorter than that between the powers. In a seemingly cold world, showing any warmth can be seen radical. Choose an act of resistance. Take notice. Take care. Stand Up.”

    Converge:

“We are Converge and we stand with the good people of Minnesota. We stand against sanctioned violence against our neighbors and communities. Our good friend @aaronbturner made this artwork [for a benefit shirt].”

  • Edge Of Paradise Premiere “Martyr (Monster)” Music Video

Edge Of Paradise have premiered a new video for their song “Martyr (Monster).” The release also includes an instrumental version of the single featuring new keyboardist Alex Nasla. The track appears on the band’s latest album “Prophecy.”

    Frontwoman Margarita Monet commented:

“This song is about realizing you can either surrender to the system that shapes you or reclaim your own identity. Perspective decides whether you’re seen as a martyr or a monster, I believe both live within us. But the power lies in choosing which one you allow to define your reality. The video expands that idea visually, exploring fractured possibilities, perspective, and what it means to stay human in an increasingly artificial and controlled world.

We are also very excited to welcome Alex Nasla to the band, as he extends the cinematic sound even more! In the song, each member carries a moment that pushes the story forward. Alex Nasla’s keyboard solo marks the beginning of a shift, and in the instrumental version they explode into something far more expansive, like stepping into a larger reality. Doug Weiand’s solo brings vulnerability and tension, and then Dave Bate’s lead hits with intensity and resolve. Anchored by the drive of Jamie Moreno and Kenny Lockwood, the song follows the same arc as its message, evolution through choice…”

  • Disturbed’s David Draiman Responds To Kanye West’s Apology For Antisemitism

Kanye West has issued a new statement to The Wall Street Journal regarding his antisemitic actions. The rapper claims his behavior was related to a brain injury he sustained during a 2002 car crash. Among those to comment on the apology, was Disturbed frontman David Draiman, who says the statement isn’t enough to “undo the damage done.”

    West said the following:

    “To Those I’ve Hurt:

Twenty-five years ago, I was in a car accident that broke my jaw and caused injury to the right frontal lobe of my brain. At the time, the focus was on the visible damage—the fracture, the swelling, and the immediate physical trauma. The deeper injury, the one inside my skull, went unnoticed.

Comprehensive scans were not done, neurological exams were limited, and the possibility of a frontal-lobe injury was never raised. It wasn’t properly diagnosed until 2023. That medical oversight caused serious damage to my mental health and led to my bipolar type-1 diagnosis.

Bipolar disorder comes with its own defense system. Denial. When you’re manic, you don’t think you’re sick. You think everyone else is overreacting. You feel like you’re seeing the world more clearly than ever, when in reality you’re losing your grip entirely.

Once people label you as ‘crazy,’ you feel as if you cannot contribute anything meaningful to the world. It’s easy for people to joke and laugh it off when in fact this is a very serious debilitating disease you can die from. According to the World Health Organization and Cambridge University, people with bipolar disorder have a life expectancy that is shortened by ten to fifteen years on average, and a 2x-3x higher all-cause mortality rate than the general population. This is on par with severe heart disease, type 1 diabetes, HIV, and cancer – all lethal and fatal if left untreated.

The scariest thing about this disorder is how persuasive it is when it tells you: You don’t need help. It makes you blind, but convinced you have insight. You feel powerful, certain, unstoppable.

I lost touch with reality. Things got worse the longer I ignored the problem. I said and did things I deeply regret. Some of the people I love the most, I treated the worst. You endured fear, confusion, humiliation, and the exhaustion of trying to have someone who was, at times, unrecognizable. Looking back, I became detached from my true self.

In that fractured state, I gravitated toward the most destructive symbol I could find, the swastika, and even sold T-shirts bearing it. One of the difficult aspects of having bipolar type-1 are the disconnected moments – many of which I still cannot recall – that led to poor judgment and reckless behavior that oftentimes feels like an out-of-body-experience. I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and am committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change. It does not excuse what I did though. I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people.

To the black community – which held me down through all of the highs and lows and the darkest of times. The black community is, unquestionably, the foundation of who I am. I am so sorry to have let you down. I love us.

In early 2025, I fell into a four-month long manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior that destroyed my life. As the situation became increasingly unsustainable, there were times I didn’t want to be here anymore.

Having bipolar disorder is notable state of constant mental illness. When you go into a manic episode, you are ill at that point. When you are not in an episode, you are completely ‘normal.’ And that’s when the wreckage from the illness hits the hardest. Hitting rock bottom a few months ago, my wife encouraged me to finally get help.

I have found comfort in Reddit forums of all places. Different people speak of being in manic or depressive episodes of a similar nature. I read their stories and realized that I was not alone. It’s not just me who ruins their entire life once a year despite taking meds every day and being told by the so-called best doctors in the world that I am not bipolar, but merely experiencing “symptoms of autism.”

My words as a leader in my community have global impact and influence. In my mania, I lost complete sight of that.

As I find my new baseline and new center through an effective regime of medication, therapy, exercise, and clean living, I have newfound, much-needed clarity. I am pouring my energy into positive, meaningful art: music, clothing, design, and other new ideas to help the world.

I’m not asking for sympathy, or a free pass, though I aspire to earn your forgiveness. I write today simply to ask for your patience and understanding as I find my way home.”

    With love,
    Ye“

Draiman then responded with the following:

    “Dear @kanyewest

    Thank you for this.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t undo the damage done, I’m not sure anything ever could…but allow me to suggest also…

Participating in Black/Jewish unity events, I’ll go with you?

Deleting “Heil Hitler” from your catalog?”

  • UADA Cover Nirvana’s “Something In The Way”

UADA have shared a new video for their new cover of Nirvana’s “Something In The Way.” Vocalist/guitarist Jake Superchi said the following about that:

“When UADA was formed, a rule was set: no covers, in pursuit of carving a wholly independent voice. With this song, we allowed ourselves to bend that rule. Recruiting a cellist for this project created a rare alignment—a moment to pay homage to one of the most formative and regional influences of my youth. While staying close to the original arrangement, we allowed our interpretation to take on its own bleak, glacial weight—one that echoes through the song’s timeless sorrow.”

  • Stephen Brodsky Streams Acoustic Cover Of Neurosis’ “Under The Surface”

Stephen Brodsky (Cave In, Mutoid Man) is streaming an acoustic cover of Neurosis’ “Under The Surface” via Decibel. You can check that out HERE. The track will appear Brodsky’s new covers album, “Cut To The Core Vol. 2,” which will be released on February 3.

Brodsky said the following about being introduced to Neurosis for the first time:

“My introduction to Neurosis was Adam McGrath (Cave In) talking about seeing them on the Through Silver in Blood tour and being completely overwhelmed – that definitely got my attention. Fast forward to early 1999, and Cave In is hanging out at the Hydra Head Records office in Mission Hill, aka Aaron Turner’s bedroom. Aaron mentions he has an unmastered cassette of the new Neurosis album that someone at Relapse sent him discreetly. He’s already listened to it multiple times and assures us it’s GOOD, like REAL good.

Because we’re dying to know – what does Neurosis sound like recorded by Steve Albini?! In 2026, it’s hard to imagine how or why this combination of band/engineer would seem so shocking, but back then it was a different story. We just sat there listening and my first impression was “Holy shit, this is LOUD. Like, DANGEROUSLY loud.” It was a righteous time for Cave In, as we were writing the Jupiter album and drawing inspiration from Neurosis among other influences new and exciting to us.”

He also added the following about the cover:

“It happened in May of last year. The real trick was to make it all feel natural. There’s a strong sense of spirituality in Neurosis’s music, which thankfully lends itself well to acoustic instruments. The eight-string baritone was an obvious choice, to keep things heavy sounding. And I made sure to feature the Mooger Fooger analog delay that I’ve had for 25 years after Steve Von Till convinced me to get one. Playing the melodica through it resulted in some approximation of those cool Noah Landis noises in the spacey section. All in all, it took maybe a few days to reimagine/rehearse/record/film.”
