Yesterday (July 11), Rush returned to the stage at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX. You can see fan-filmed footage from that concert below. This news comes after the band previously postponed two shows after bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee came down with laryngitis and bronchitis.
Eugene S. Robinson (Buñuel, ex-Oxbow, etc.) is currently recovering from a brain stroke. The news was confirmed by the producer of “The Eugene S. Robinson Show Stomper!” podcast.
Here’s an official statement:
“Hey all,
A lot of you probably noticed there was no newsletter and no regular show activity this week. It’s been quiet here at the Show Stomper because I’ve been waiting for clear information and direction from Eugene’s family before saying anything publicly.
Kasia, Eugene’s wife, has now told me Eugene wants people to know what’s been going on…
There is no easy way to say this, Eugene suffered a brain stroke over the weekend.
He is currently in a hospital in Malaga, Spain, that specializes in this kind of care. Kasia has been able to get to him. He has people who love him at his side. He is alive and conscious. He is mentally present. He recognizes and responds accurately to conversation. He is mobile, can walk, and can grab and pick things up. I have also heard that he underwent a procedure for the clot to be cleared today.
Right now, the biggest thing is that he cannot talk yet. NO speech right now.
For anyone who knows Eugene – or has ever listened to five minutes of him – you know how surreal and terrifying that is. This is a man built out of words with nuance and meaning, wild stories, brilliant arguments, clever jokes, riffs, musical prowess and sheer force of will. So yes, this is serious. It is scary. It is a lot.
But there is also real hope here.
Kasia said the doctor seemed positive that with the right treatment and therapy, he should be able to recover.
She also asked him about updating the audience, and he made it clear that yes, he wants people to know now.
Her words were:
“Let people know to wait for him, because he’ll be back.”
So that’s what this is…
Wait for him.
He’s not tapping out.
HE WILL BE BACK.
For now, Stomper may be paused or irregular while everyone figures out next steps. We’ll update you when there is more to share and when Kasia/Eugene are ready for more details to be made public. Rest assured he has a helluva story to tell and will be back to share it, as soon as he is able to.”
Harley Flanagan (Cro-Mags) also wished him well:
“Sending love to my bro Eugene Robinson , he suffered a stroke a few days ago, he was alone when it happened. He’s lucky to be alive, but he’s a bad motherfucker, and I’m sure he will be back to choking fools out in no time. Coal Chamber drummer Mikey “Bug” Cox recently underwent another surgery related to his cancer battle. The operation is expected to be his last.
Cox said the following before the surgery:
“BIG DAY!!! My lovely baby mamma and I are at the hospital for what my medical team hopes will be my final cancer surgery.
This has been a long, difficult journey filled with appointments, tests, surgeries, and more uncertainty than I ever imagined. Through it all, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the love and support of my family, friends, my doctors, and all of you. I can’t thank everyone enough for the encouragement, prayers, and kindness you’ve shown me every step of the way.
I’m beyond grateful for how far we’ve come. I’m alive, I’m getting stronger every day, and today feels like another huge step toward putting this chapter behind me.
I can’t wait to finish recovering, get healthy, and get back where I belong—on stage with @coalchamberofficial . Seeing all of you again is a huge part of what’s kept me motivated through this fight.
Thank you for believing in me. Here’s to healing, recovery, and the road ahead.

“First steps post surgery ! I’m In a ridiculous amount of pain and I have a massive hole in my stomach that will act as a drain and heal itself . They also had to cut my ab muscle and sewed it back together so that is pain every time I breathe but Surgery was a massive success and hopefully the last one . I now have to get my walking ability back and then get into all my PT . If I can get a handle on my neuropathy and joint pain we are looking good . I’ll be ready to go full steam in a few months ! Fxck Cancer”
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan has closed down his Torpedo Comics store in Las Vegas, Nevada. The brand will continue to live online.
Torpedo Comics previously confirmed their plans to shut down back in May:

During an interview with Metal Hammer, Sevendust singer Lajon Witherspoon talked about coming up amid the nü-metal wave in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He said the following about that:
“I didn’t necessarily think we were nü-metal. We were just these guys from Georgia that popped up on TVT Records, and all these other cats were hanging out in California. They had a certain chemistry with each other, and we were kinda like the odd man out and had to prove we could whip ass. So that’s what we did and stayed in our lane. There wasn’t that kind of camaraderie at the beginning, but over the years, we became friends with everyone.”
