Amorphis To Release “Brother And Sister” Vinyl Single

Amorphis will be releasing a new vinyl single titled “Brother And Sister” on December 18. The effort, which can be pre-ordered HERE, will be limited to 666 copies and it will come with the title track and another song titled “As Mountains Crumble.“ Both of those tracks were previously available on the digipak edition of the band’s latest album “Queen Of Time.“ New limited edition vinyl pressings of that record will also be released on October 23. Keyboardist Santeri Kallio commented:

“Two great songs from ‘Queen Of Time‘ sessions in vinyl which is great. Atmospherical ‘Brother and Sister‘ and majestic prog-driven ‘As Mountains Crumble‘ were also good candidates for the ‘Queen of Time‘ album final track list, but in the final run ended up as an album bonus tracks to give a special edge for different releases. With this release it is great to see these songs get more attention they deserve.”

Amorphis Premiere “Amongst Stars” Music Video

Amorphis have premiered a new video for their new song “Amongst Stars.“ This track features guest vocals from Anneke van Giersbergen and it appears on the band’s new album “Queen Of Time,“ which was released today (May 18).

Esa Holopainen commented:

“‘Amongst Stars’ turned out as one of the most solid songs on the album. The song itself was not the easiest one to work with. We tried a lot of different variations during the pre-production and finally Jens‘ co-producer friend Per Aldeheim came up with these great vocal lines and idea for an duetto. We have been privileged to work with Anneke before so it was pretty clear to ask her to help us out with the song. As everyone knows her voice is more than stunning and she is surrounded by incredibly positive aura. As a result we have a really beautiful and catchy duetto where both singers do unbelievable work. We are extremely happy that Anneke was available during the time of our recordings and it was great to get her to the video as well. Lucky us.”

Anneke van Giersbergen added:

“When Amorphis asked me to participate in a song for their new album, I immediately said yes without having to listen to it first because I knew it would be good. But when they sent it to me to start working on it and I was totally blown away! It‘s such a powerful and melodic song, I am proud to be part of it. The video for this song is equally epic. The guys of Amorphis look and sound fantastic and I am truly happy to ride with them on this journey towards their new album.”

Amorphis Premiere New Song “The Bee”

Amorphis have premiered a lyric video for their new song “The Bee.“ This track is from the band’s new album “Queen Of Time,“ which will be released on May 18.

Esa Holopainen commented:

“This song is a very powerful opener and gives a nice picture of what the whole album is all about. You can already hear some new elements like choirs and orchestral arrangements in it.”

Tomi Joutsen added:

“Of course, the lyrical inspiration is a bee, also in a metaphoric way. The tiniest thing can sometimes be the most important thing. A bee can bring life or if we destroy all the bees, life will stop here. It’s a very beautiful animal, that’s why you can find it on the album cover too. The track itself is a kind of progressive and I’m sure that it will surprise some fans in a positive way. We love it!”

Amorphis To Release New Album “Queen Of Time’ In May

Amorphis have announced that their new album “Queen Of Time” will be released on May 18 via Nuclear Blast. The effort was recorded with producer Jens Bogren, and the cover art for it can be seen below:

Lead vocalist Esa Holopainen commented:

“I guess ‘Queen Of Time‘ turned out as a massive surprise to all of us. During the rehearsing and pre-production we didn’t have any idea that Jens had this huge picture inside of his head about the landscape of the album. It’s a very natural continuation to ‘Under The Red Cloud‘ but with steroids.

The songs are more aggressive but there’s more dynamics, harmonies and orchestral arrangements present. The result is Amorphis as something you’ve never heard before! Essentially, working with Jens worked really well. As a person he is very similar to us – we share the same kind of weird humor and we all like to work hard.”

Returning bassist Olli-Pekka ‘Oppu’ Laine also had the following to say:

“Even though the last year with Amorphis has been exciting, nostalgic and fun, it’s also been truly comfortable to be with the guys again. As a clichéd expression, it’s been like returning home from a lengthy odyssey. After eighteen years, it feels like we are picking up where we left off from the good ol’ days! I’m really looking forward for the upcoming tour.

The new album itself is a really strong package, the only hard thing will be picking which songs to play live! It’s safe to say we are set to pull off some killer shows over the next few years. After that, I’m predicting a long and fruitful career for the band in its current form…”
