  • Monstrosity Premiere New Song “The Atrophied”

    Monstrosity have premiered a new song titled “The Atrophied.” This track is from the band’s new album, “Screams From Beneath The Surface,” which will be released on March 13.

    Drummer Lee Harrison commented:

    “‘The Atrophied’ contains all the hallmarks of a classic Monstrosity song. From the opening drum rolls and Mark Van Erp’s spiraling bass intro, it surges forward with ferocious blasting energy, then weaves through a dynamic landscape of devastating riffs and intricate rhythmic shifts. This was an important song for us to get right, and I feel the guys really pulled through with this one. Our new vocalist Ed Webb commands the storm, shifting seamlessly from guttural depths to razor sharp highs and lending the performance a gripping, almost cinematic intensity. Matt Barnes unleashes chaotic and spiraling melodic runs that echo the band’s most iconic moments, with additional crushing guitar work by Justin Walker. I aimed to craft the lyrics as a haunting narrative of decay and collapse, perfectly framed by the forceful and punishing production from Audiohammer and Morrisound Studios. ‘The Atrophied’ delivers Monstrosity at our most direct and ferocious!”

    Guitarist Matt Barnes added:

    “‘The Atrophied’ came together through our usual working method, but it delivered an unexpected result in the end. Lee brought the song to the table in a stripped down, skeletal form. We spent a lot of time sending demos back and forth, adding transitions, tweaking riffs, changing a few notes… the usual. But something happened along the way. Once we finished writing it and everyone had their parts locked in, when we finally played it all together, it felt more like an epic saga than just another death metal song. ‘The Atrophied’ may be the most musically and emotionally complex song Monstrosity has ever recorded. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had songs that were more complex in terms of pure technical nuts and bolts, real fretboard acrobatics, but those tracks are usually locked into one mood, one color. ‘The Atrophied’ for me, carries the feel of a 15-minute Rush or Iron Maiden epic, yet it’s tightly condensed, unpretentious, and, as always, unabashedly death metal.”

    “‘Zenith‘ was very nearly one of the lead singles during our album campaign. In light of this, we decided to cut together some of the incredible footage captured by our dear friend and long time content king, Tom Armstrong and give it a proper music video as we approach our next round of touring.

    The final result is a snapshot of the biggest headline tour we’ve ever done up to this point. The ‘Zenith’ tour travelled across UK and Europe and was a massive step up for our band. We were consistently blown away by the support shown by our fans. The tour culminated with 2 sold out shows at the Glasgow Barrowlands, the venue that we’ve been dreaming of headlining since we started this band 21 years ago. Surrounded by fans, friends and family, we celebrated everything that we’ve worked towards over the last 2 decades.

    The following was said about the album:

    “Set in the once-glorious land of Cliptopia, where a sentient A.I. known as Cliptron and his army of robots are resourcing everything, then turning it all into Clipnex brand paperclips, the album follows young artist Hippard O. Campus Jr. as he rebels against his father, Hippard Sr. (owner of the Clipnex corporation and creator of Cliptron). With help from salty sea-dog Colonel O’Coren, Hipp embarks on a fantastical adventure to stop Cliptron’s cold, chrome heart from converting the world, humans included, into paperclips.

    Hipp’s quest leads across the sea to the Isle of Lucidity, where the all-wise Ministry of Manatees guide him to the Great Parrot-Ox, whose Golden Egg Of Empathy is the only thing that can bring understanding and emotion to Cliptron.”

    Lennon continued:

    “‘The Great Parrot-Ox And The Golden Egg Of Empathy‘ is a cautionary tale of what could be in store for humanity if we continue to favor machines over men. It is a tale of a technocracy eclipsed by paperclips; a young man destined to unravel the fabric of his father’s folly, and a sacred feathered Goddess (played by Willow),who holds the egg-shaped key to their future.”

    He also revealed plans for a comic book:

    “Initially Les and I were imagining a feature-length animated film for ‘Parrot-Ox‘, but we realized there wasn’t enough time to complete such an undertaking, so we asked Rich [Ragsdale] if he could distill the story into a comic book for us. He did an incredible job.

    I think we all share a lot of taste and sensibility. The process was really smooth for the most part. I think the Colonel said he’s never been so happy so quickly with that kind of thing. Les and I really belabored the story beforehand, but when it came time for Rich to flesh it out, things went very quickly. Now that the story exists in this comic book form it’s even easier to imagine it becoming a feature some day. And you never know!”

    Claypool added:

    “‘The Great Parrot Ox And The Golden Egg Of Empathy‘ was over three years in the making and was the most labor intensive recording I have ever been involved in. The results are something Shiner and I are very proud of; a relevant concept piece accompanied by a colorful, phantasmic comic book.”

  • Bring Me The Horizon Share First 7 Minutes Of “L.I.V.E. In São Paulo” Film

    Bring Me The Horizon have shared the first seven minutes of their new live film “L.I.V.E. In São Paulo (Live Immersive Virtual Experiment).” That effort was recorded during the band’s November 30, 2024 show at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil and it will be screened in theaters on March 25 and March 28. The concert is also set to be released on DVD, CD, and vinyl on April 10. Pre-orders can be found HERE.
