    “Thirty years in, we never take a single person in that audience for granted. With the economy the way that it is right now, it shouldn’t be a mortgage payment for a family to come out to see us. [The late] Paul O’Neill was very adamant about giving people in the audience more ‘show’ than they could’ve even imagined, and that’s what we do every year. We reimagine the show, we rebuild it, we make it bigger than last year so people come back again. I want you to look and go ‘Oh my God, they outdid themselves one more time!’. We want to make sure you guys can come out and celebrate because you and everyone in that audience are the greatest fans in the world.”

  • A New Documentary On King Diamond Is In The Works

    A new documentary focusing on King Diamond is currently in the works. The Frederik Brun Madsen-directed film is based on a screenplay from Peter Engel and it will be produced by UpNorth Film AS by Christian Aune Falch, Torstein Parelius, and Sondre Johansen in co-production with Wingman Media.

    Diamond told Metal Injection the following:

    “There’s a King Diamond movie that has been filmed over the last three years. It’s been fully supported by the Danish National Film Institute. They’re trying to do it full on with going to the film festivals and all this stuff.

    It’s a full-blown movie, and it’s not your average standard [documentary]. It’s more, because they have gone all the way back. They found the old bandmembers from [my first heavy rock band] BRAINSTORM from 1976. ’78, BLACK ROSE [King’s second band] members, and up to 1980, BLACK ROSE. They found old BLACK ROSE playing live from a little — what was it? A mini mall somewhere outside of Copenhagen from, it must’ve been early ’78 or something like that, where one of the first times I sang live ever. It didn’t sound bad. It was weird. But we played ‘Space Truckin’ without even a keyboard.

    I’ll tell you what [the film] is. It’s pretty much a story about a kid from Denmark with very big dreams who had practically no chance of having that come true, but somehow it really did. This film crew, the way they go about researching things is unbelievable.”

  • Brian Slagel To Celebrate Metal Blade Records’ 45th Anniversary With New Podcast

    Metal Blade Records will be turning 45 next year. As such, founder and CEO Brian Slagel is planning to celebrate with a new podcast.

    More details were shared in a press release:

    “Metal Blade Records – the fiercely independent label that launched Metallica, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, Armored Saint, and dozens more genre-defining icons, and is the longtime home of King Diamond, Killswitch Engage, Whitechapel, Cattle Decapitation and many more – proudly celebrates its 45th Anniversary in 2027. Founded in 1982 by Brian Slagel with little more than an unwavering belief in underground heavy music and the drive to get it heard, Metal Blade has grown from a grassroots passion project into one of the most influential independent labels in metal history. To mark this milestone, Slagel announces a brand-new podcast series: Metal Blade Records’ 45th Anniversary Podcast.

    My Chemical Romance are preparing to release a new 20th anniversary edition of their 2006 album “The Black Parade.” Fans can sign up to gain early access to CD, vinyl, and cassette pre-orders HERE.

    The band commented:

    “Twenty years ago, we wrote what would become “The Black Parade”, our third record and the follow up to “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge”.

    At the time, we could never have imagined what the record would mean for the band. All we knew is that we had made something crazy, and something we couldn’t wait to get it out into the world.

    Today, twenty years on, we celebrate its release.

    For the first time, we have included everything we finished during those sessions in a single collection.
