• Deftones Sponsor Youth Soccer Team In Sacramento, CA

Deftones have sponsored a youth soccer team called Los Jaguares. Notably, the squad are from Oak Park, the same Sacramento, CA neighborhood where the band grew up.

    Deftones commented:

“We’ve teamed up with Goal Projects to sponsor a youth soccer team from our hometown in Sacto. We designed some custom jerseys and a soccer ball that will become part of the kids’ official kits in the new year.

Sales of the collection support Los Jaguares, a team of boys and girls ages 11-14 from oak park – the same neighborhood that shaped us. Every order helps keep soccer free for the kids and supports programs that help them on and off the field.

    They also added:

“Los Jaguares represent an underserved community in one of California’s lowest-income districts. For these athletes, soccer is a vital source of pride and community, as reflected in their rallying cry: ‘Who are we? Familia.’

When we heard about this group of kids growing up in our hometown in need of support, we jumped at the opportunity. Soccer and music are both about connection and expression, and having a strong community that nourishes this during developmental years is so important. We’re stoked to be able to give back and make a positive change in their lives, and our hope is to encourage them to continue pursuing their dreams despite any odds.”
