    Enter Shikari have shared a new song titled “Higher Ground.” Vocalist Rou Reynolds commented:

    “Our music has often been about zooming out. Looking at the bigger picture on things gives us perspective, clarity, and often a strange calm in today’s relentless and difficult times. ‘Higher Ground‘ is about just how pivotal taking the broad perspective is. Whether in our personal lives or when looking at the biggest problems that humanity faces, we often gain clarity and see connections that were previously hidden when we find time to zoom out. The track was written during the recording sessions for ‘Lose Your Self‘ but felt like its own entity so was parked and finished off slowly over spring and summer this year.”

    Guitarist/vocalist Johannes Persson commented:

    “‘The Rift‘ is about the loneliness of the human experience and the urgent need to belong, to seek refuge in the collective.   • Darkest Hour Premiere “Warrior” Music Video

    Darkest Hour have premiered a new video for their new song “Warrior.” You can check that out below. The track is from their new album, “Suffer Divine,” which will be released on October 30.

    Guitarist Mike Schleibaum commented:

    “This song showcases our melodic death metal tendencies with a bit of a modern twist. It draws you deep into a fresh yet familiar DH sound. I love the progressiveness of Nico’s solo, the intricacy of Travis’ drum work, Deal’s devastating low end, John’s vocal delivery, and lyrical density. This album is full of both rage and technicality. It’s furious with focused intent, and this song is a perfect example of that in action.”

    Vocalist John Henry continued:

    “Lyrically, this song is meant to reach out to the intrapersonal warrior. The internal struggle is often the most important battle we ever fight. This song touches on the idea of gaining control of your thoughts, actions, and purpose. It’s meant to be fuel for action.”

    Schleibaum added:

    “The video for ‘Warrior’ is heavily inspired by one of our favorite movies, Raging Bull AND one of our favorite music videos, ‘Mama Said Knock You Out.’ This video is both fun and tough at the same time.”

    Down have premiered a new video for their new song “The Myth.” This track is from the band’s new album, “Volume V,” which will be released on November 20.

  • Watch Arch Enemy Perform Live With Thrown Into Exile Drummer Hank Lin In Tempe

    Arch Enemy drummer Daniel Erlandsson was forced to miss the band’s October 6 show in Tempe, AZ due to illness. As such, the band performed with Hank Lin (Thrown Into Exile) behind the kit. The group said the following about the last-minute lineup change:

    “Tempe, AZ, it was great seeing you all again. As you can see there’s someone missing in this picture. Sadly, Daniel was too ill to perform tonight. However, Thrown Into Exile’s Hank Lin was able to step up and learned the set in under 3 hours and absolutely crushed it with no soundcheck or rehearsal! Thank you, Hank for saving the day and we look forward to having Daniel back on stage Thursday night in Salt Lake City!     “Letting everything but our distortion pedals collect dust for ‘Far Country’ was initially a little frightening, but very quickly became fun as hell. Stripping not only the song structures themselves, but also the tools used to make them, down to only what was absolutely necessary felt vital for this one, which we hope is emblematic of our current ethos and the record in general.”

    “This album has long been a polarizing subject in and around the Big Wreck camp.

    From my own perspective, I choose to remember the time just before recording it, when we were all bubbling with excitement—excitement for the possibilities and that ‘wait till they hear this!’ enthusiasm.

    When we were done recording, those feelings faded fast. I remember feeling a bit lost, like, ‘This isn’t what we wanted.’ We went into another studio to try and capture some of ‘what we wanted,’ but perhaps we were just a bit too beat up by that point to get it.

    Having said all that, I’ve always believed in the music. I’ve always wondered what would happen if we got another crack at it. What if those songs got the treatment we thought they deserved?

    When the opportunity arose and we found out that the recordings still existed, I couldn’t wait to hear what was actually there. To my surprise, the initial raw recordings were okay, without the weird balances and sizzle the album always had. Apparently, that happened in the mix.

    So, 25 years after the album was released, Eric Ratz and I went about painstakingly putting these recordings back together in a way that makes sense to us now. Many years of experience later, it was almost as if we were hearing this album for the first time.

    We got very excited. That excitement carried on through to the last track. And it reminds me of the excitement those four kids had right before they went into the studio to record their second album.”
