  • Tom Morello, Rise Against, Etc. Announce “Defend Minnesota” Concert

    Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, etc.), Rise Against, Al Di Meola, Ike Reilly, and more special guests will be playing a “Defend Minnesota” concert at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN on January 30. The show will raise money for the families of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, who were both killed by ICE.

    Morello commented:

  • Final Gasp Premiere “Burials Of Birth” Music Video

    Final Gasp have premiered a new video for their new song “Burials Of Birth.” This track is from the band’s new album, “New Day Symptoms,” which will be released on February 27.

    The following was said about the single:

    “New single ‘Burials of Birth’ finds [vocalist Jake Murphy] recounting the tragic story of a homeless man living off grid that he encountered throughout his youth. His tent encampment was burned down by the police and he froze to death in the process of trying to rebuild it. It’s that ability to perceive a sense of loss from an outside perspective that makes these songs resonate more widely, giving greater perspective to deal with our own.”

    Jake Murphy added:

    “A lot of ‘New Day Symptoms’ was written in an outside perspective — what could’ve happened if things were different, but ultimately it didn’t end that way. You can’t change what’s already been done, so you just have to move on. It just means it’s a part of who you are now.”

    “20 years ago, I stepped into a tour van with my best friends, having no idea what was next every mile we drove down the road. Funny enough, we broke down two hours later in the AM hours in a snowstorm. We had to sleep on the floor of a rest stop on the side of the Interstate and wait what felt like forever for a tow truck. We were forced to cancel the first few shows of our first tour ever, and to figure out how to scrape up every cent we could to try and get the van fixed and get back on the road.     Saxon have finished the mixing process for their new album. The effort will be released later this year.

    Frontman Biff Byford commented in a new video:

    “We’ve finished the album now. Andy Sneap’s finished mixing the album, the new album. So, you’re gonna be hearing about that over the summer, I’m sure.”

    On another note, Byford also shared a positive update on his cancer battle:

    “I’ve got some new news on the operation. [It’s been] six months now since my cancer operation, and I had a CT scan and everything is clear. So that’s good news after the op, so there’s nothing come back. So that’s really good.”
