Leprous frontman Einar Solberg has released a new deluxe edition of his latest album “Vox Occulta.” The original version of the effort was released earlier this year and it included contributions from John Browne (Monuments), Pierre Danel (Novelists), Ben Levin (ex-Bent Knee), and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. The expanded edition also features instrumental versions of every song. Solberg commented:

“Removing the vocals gives the orchestral performances a chance to really shine on their own, revealing a different side of the music and arrangements.”

  • Venera (Korn, Etc.) Guest On New Jesse Draxler Song “Asbestos”

Venera, the project featuring Korn’s James “Munky” Shaffer and composer/filmmaker Chris Hunt, are featured on Jesse Draxler’s new song “Asbestos.” You can find a video for that track below. The single is from Draxler’s new album, “Tongue Of Angels,” which will receive a digital release on August 24.

    Shaffer commented:

“There are only a handful of artists that have the energy and passion for music and art that [Jesse Draxler] does. You can feel how much he loves and enjoys the process of creating whatever he works on. He’s extremely talented. His openness to collaborations allows for others to explore and expand their own creativity.”

    Hunt added:

“I agree. Jesse is a generous artist with a keen sensibility towards texture, decay and materiality which resonates with what we’re interested in with our own work. It was an intriguing task looking at the inside of his brain, hearing bits of the world through his ears and attempting to contextualize those sounds. Sometimes field recording is flattened into a pursuit of purity and accuracy of an environment so it’s worthwhile to get to interact with sound like any other compelling textural piece of trash on the street or rotting wall or weird anomaly to be investigated and constructed with.”

  • Dates Announced For 2026 This Is Hardcore Festival

The dates have been revealed for the 2026 This Is Hardcore festival. The event will take place at Club Reverb in Reading, PA on December 19-20.

    Organizers commented:

“We appreciate the interest of what is going on with This Is Hardcore 2026, especially with a Hellfest on each coast, several fantastic fests all slated across the country and calendar.

It makes sense for TIHC at the 20 year mark to continue to have fun doing the fest for the real fans, young and old and to give a proper lineup at a great space, while not trying to lose the script of where we started off. 2006 TIHC was put on to bring back a truly DIY approach to fests, showcasing fan favorites, up and coming bands and keep things hardcore focused.

This Is Hardcore 2026 will take place at Club Reverb in Reading, PA. Years of doing shows and Keystone HC Holiday Jam have proven that the room is perfect for us to celebrate 20 years in the right way. Owned and operated for nearly 20 years by a lifelong hardcore kid, Chris has been constantly on the list of best privately owned music venues in the country.

Truly hope to see you all in December. We will have more information soon and hope to see you all to celebrate 20 years of This Is Hardcore in December.

Tuesday we will go live on Instagram at 7pm EST on @thisishardcorefest feed!!!”

  • Mudvayne Frontman Chad Gray Says The Band Still Don’t Have Any “Big Plans” For 2027

During a recent interview with Full Metal Jackie, Chad Gray offered an update on Mudvayne, who have been taking the year off. According to him, the group still don’t have any “big plans” for 2027 either.

    Gray said the following:

“I knew that we talked about taking 2026 off and I’m like, ‘I should probably do something,’ ’cause I have a feeling when I’m deep into 2026 I’m still not gonna have heard anything about 2027 and that’s kinda where I’m at right now.

Like, I haven’t really heard anything about, ‘Okay, big plans in 2027.’ There have been mutterings that that’s it. So I’m like kind of kinda glad I did this. ‘Cause I just don’t wanna sit at home. That’s not where I’m happy, sitting on the couch doing nothing.

I like to be onstage and I like to be touring and playing and doing it with great players and great friends and standing in front of my greatest friends and having my greatest friends stand in front of me and that’s where I wanna be.”

He also discussed the possibility of working on music with his solo band:

“If this looks like it could be something more, I might create some new music. I might write some new music, just solo stuff. I still am doing Mudvayne. I still wanna do Mudvayne. But I’m loving doing this because I’m having the opportunity to play Hellyeah music again. But I’m still very much in Mudvayne and I’m still doing Mudvayne. We’ll see what happens with more new music from Mudvayne, but you know, hopefully I’ll be able to. It’s just all gonna depend on how it’s received, honestly. But if it does well and the tour is great, then that’s kind of a no-brainer. Then maybe I should do it. But time will tell.”
