Ov Sulfur Share Music Video For “Wide Open” Featuring Light The Torch’s Howard Jones

Ov Sulfur, the project featuring former Suffokate vocalist Ricky Hoover, have premiered a new video for their new song “Wide Open.” The track, which features Howard Jones (Light The Torch, ex-Killswitch Engage), appears on the band’s newly released album “The Burden Ov Faith.” Guitarist Chase Wilson commented:

“Having Howard hop on the album version of ‘Wide Open‘ was the best thing that could have happened. We knew we wanted the song on the album, but we also knew it needed new life to live alongside the rest of the songs and not just be tossed on there. It’s crazy to us he wanted to work with us – less surprising is the fact he absolutely killed it. We just gave him the song and lyrics, and we let him do his thing. He really pushes the song to another level with both his screaming and singing. What a legend!”

Ov Sulfur Share Video For New Song “Befouler” Featuring Slaughter To Prevail’s Alex Terrible

Ov Sulfur have premiered a new video for their new song “Befouler.” The track, which features Slaughter To Prevail’s Alex Terrible, is from the band’s new album “The Burden Ov Faith,” which will be released on March 24.

Vocalist Ricky Hoover (ex-Suffokate) commented:

“Breaking away from our constant blasphemy, ‘Befouler‘ focuses on real-life heretics who say one thing to your face but believe another. They use this false front as a pathetic defense to slowly plot your demise.

This type of life became foreign to me in my years away from the music industry, but it seems the more you’re in the public eye, the more you face dissenters and weaklings. I’ve made so many great friends through the industry, but this one is a middle finger to those who are too cowardly to even spit in your face because they only open their mouth while hiding theirs.”

Guitarist Chase Wilson added:

“This is easily our most energetic song. The technical riffing keeps you banging your head so hard you just might get lightheaded while singing along to the anthemic chorus – shout out to Ricky! By the time you get to the end, you’ve basically given yourself short-term memory loss and forgotten that Alex Terrible comes in to just bludgeon you to death on the final breakdown.

For the video, we went with a tale of revenge that ties our early single and EP artworks to ‘The Burden Ov Faith‘. Rather than go with the typical animated video, we wanted it to be almost like a moving painting or storybook, complete with hyper-stylized art from the super talented Anastasia Solti. We had our friend Dylan Gould add some extra effects to really make it pulse with the music, and we’re very excited to have a unique visual for one of our collective favorite songs from the album!”

Ov Sulfur To Release New Album “The Burden Ov Faith” In March, Premiere “Earthen” Video

Ov Sulfur, the project featuring former Suffokate vocalist Ricky Hoover, have officially revealed the details for their new album “The Burden Ov Faith.” The effort will be released on March 24 and it will feature a number of special guests including: Howard Jones (Light The Torch, ex-Killswitch Engage), Alex Terrible (Slaugther To Prevail), Taylor Barber (Left To Suffer), Kyle Medina (Bodysnatcher), and Lindsay Schoolcraft (ex-Cradle Of Filth).

“The Burden Ov Faith” Track Listing:

01. “Stained In Rot”
02. “Befouler” (feat. Alex Terrible)
03. “Unraveling” (feat. Taylor Barber)
04. “Death Ov Circumstance”
05. “Earthen”
06. “A Path To Salvation?”
07. “I, Apostate”
08. “Wide Open” (feat. Howard Jones)
09. “The Inglorious Archetype”
10. “The Burden Ov Faith” (feat. Kyle Medina and Lindsay Schoolcraft)

Hoover said the following about the album:

“I wanted to put something out there that was as blasphemous and heavy as it was thought-provoking; I just had no idea how many people felt the same way.”

A video for the effort’s latest single, “Earthen,” can be found below. Hoover added the following about that:

“‘Earthen‘ is about my nephew who died from cancer at 16. After failed bone-marrow transplants, he decided to stop and let it take its course. It’s about witnessing that and being there, holding him when he died. That song is very emotional for me… I was actually crying in the studio tracking vocals. We needed the video to capture the sheer tragedy of that situation to really underscore how unfair and unjust it is for any ‘god’ to put a child through something as awful as cancer.”

Guitarist Chase Wilson also commented:

“The guitar lead from this song is the first thing I wrote that ended up on the album, well over a year ago. The song came together quickly after that and has stayed very similar since. As such, it’ll appeal to fans of the ‘Oblivion‘ EP, as well as the newer stuff we’ve been putting out, with the most obvious growth being Ricky‘s emotional singing and Leviathvn‘s super tasteful drumming. We’re all really proud of this one.”

Ov Sulfur Premiere “Death Ov Circumstance” Music Video

Ov Sulfur, the band featuring ex-Suffokate vocalist Ricky Hoover, have premiered a new video for their new song “Death Ov Circumstance.“ You can check that out below:

Hoover commented:

“This is another perspective on the poison that is religion. Rather than directly attack the current church, I looked back on history to the Salem Witch Trials. That was a time when Christianity persecuted others, while its believers either picked up their torches at worst or turned a blind eye at best – a pretty terrible best case scenario. This is a scenario that’s repeated itself throughout history during slaughters such as the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition.

Our video is more a fantasy world where the witches get their revenge. After one and her baby are burned alive, she and her friends come back to enact some sweet justice.”

Guitarist Chase Wilson added:

“After the full-on brutal attack of ‘Stained In Rot,’ here’s a song with…ZERO BLAST BEATS! Don’t worry, though, the song kicks in HARD with a churning war march and only lets up for our best melodic hooks yet. In fact, hearing the unfinished version of this track is what really opened our eyes to how diverse Ricky‘s vocals were – not just in screaming but also singing. Wait until you hear the bridge!”

Ov Sulfur Premiere “Stained In Rot” Music Video

Ov Sulfur, the band featuring former Suffokate frontman Ricky Hoover, have premiered a new video for their new song “Stained In Rot.” You can check that out below:

Hoover commented:

“‘Stained In Rot‘ is the heaviest song I’ve been a part of vocally and lyrically. It’s about bringing to light the fact that religion and government are constantly trying to become one and change the world into a theocracy. It’s about showing the horrors that have happened under that way of thinking and control. It’s about pulling out the truth and shoving it back in the faces of religionists while the ‘truth’ they be forced to believe crumbles around them.”

Guitarist Chase Wilson added:

“We knew we had to release this song on The Pain Remains Tour, as it has more of a slamming, brutal death metal riffing ala Aborted and Ingested, but it’s also got the blackened deathcore sound that fits in with Lorna Shore and Angelmaker. It’s crushingly heavy yet teases some of Ricky‘s expanded vocal chops via a little bit of singing. Yes, that’s Ricky on the chorus!”

Ov Sulfur Premiere “Wide Open” Music Video

Ov Sulfur, the band featuring ex-Suffokate vocalist Ricky Hoover, have premiered a new video for their new song “Wide Open.” The group commented:

“We’re excited to open your eyes (and ears) to the new chapter of Ov Sulfur. The song features some INSANE growls and shrieks from Ricky, which show just how far he’s come since his time in Suffokate. The music is similarly elevated, with the three (3!) breakdowns outdoing anything we’ve done before yet the chorus and dual solo bring some much-needed melody to the proceedings. Yes, at the risk of sounding like a cliché (I mean, we are a metal band who hates religion…), it’s our heaviest yet most melodic track yet. Speaking of hating religion, this song is about waking up, pulling the veil from over your eyes and leaving the false faith in the past.”

Ov Sulfur Sign With Century Media Records

Ov Sulfur, the band featuring ex-Suffokate vocalist Ricky Hoover, have signed a new deal with Century Media Records. The group will be releasing a new single, titled “Wide Open,” on June 8 and fans can pre-save it HERE.

The band commented:

“We’re beyond excited to join forces with Century Media, whose stellar roster speaks for itself. They’ve been at the forefront of every scene, regularly picking up the best each subgenre has to offer right before it really explodes. That they saw promise in us was truly affirming and invigorating, especially after only a year-and-a-bit as a band.”

“We’ve been teasing ‘Wide Open‘ since our first music video, where Ricky wore a custom-made shirt that quickly became his stage gear. We’re happy that this liminal song will serve as our first release on Century Media, closing the last chapter and ushering in a new one.”
