Scott Ian (Anthrax) has shared a new photo that seems to suggest that Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio) has joined The Damned Things. Though not confirmed, some believe he could be replacing bassist Josh Newton (Shiner, ex-Every Time I Die), who is absent in the picture. Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, ex-Anthrax) recently confirmed his exit from the band as well, but as he said, the group already have enough guitarists, so it is unlikely that they will need to replace him. The band, which also features Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die), Joe Trohman (Fall Out Boy), and Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy), are currently booked for Welcome To Rockville (May 4) and Epicenter (May 11).
During an interview on Jamey Jasta’s (Hatebreed) “The Jasta Show”, Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, ex-Anthrax) confirmed that he will not be involved in The Damned Things (Every Time I Die, Anthrax, Fall Out Boy, etc.) upcoming appearances at Welcome To Rockville (May 4) and Epicenter (May 11). He also said the following when asked who might be in the group’s current lineup: “I don’t know, to be honest. I haven’t spoken to those dudes in a bit.” When asked about a possible replacement for him, he added: “I think they have enough guitar players, but I’m not sure [laughs].” Despite this, Caggiano says he was “really proud” of their album and that he had a “blast” with them.
The Damned Things (Anthrax, Every Time I Die, Fall Out Boy, etc.) have announced their first live show since 2011. The set will take place on May 4 at the Welcome To Rockville festival in Jacksonville, FL. This news comes after Scott Ian (Anthrax) recently hinted at new music from the band.
“We always knew with The Damned Things, it was always going to be something that we would get to do schedules permitting, because we are all in extremely busy bands. But look, we’re all friends and we’re all in contact with each other on a regular basis and I can say that there is, possibly, a record, but that’s all I’m going to say about it [laughs].”
Members of the group previously said they were working on an EP and Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die) even shared a teaser awhile back.
It was previously reported that The Damned Things (Every Time I Die, Anthrax, etc.) were working on a new EP, and now Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die) has posted a new teaser on Instagram. Check that out below:
Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy) previously revealed that The Damned Things (Every Time I Die, Anthrax, etc.), were working on a new EP. Alternative Press have since asked frontman Keith Buckley about that and he said there is “more than enough material for an EP,” but it’s still in the “demo phase.”
Buckley said the following:
“While we have more than enough material for an EP, we are still very much in the ‘demo’ phase, rearranging riffs and trying different things vocally. And though it’s a little too early to say what the next release will sound like comprehensively, we’ve taken a different approach to writing this time around. Things are more atmospheric and weirder. We’ve loosened up a bit and learned to let our major influences speak. In that way, it’s the truest sound we’re capable of.”
It looks like The Damned Things, the band featuring Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy), Joe Trohman (Fall Out Boy), Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, ex-Anthrax), and Josh Newton (Shiner, ex-Every Time I Die, etc.), are working on a new EP. Hurley was recently interviewed on 100 Words Or Less, and said the following:
“I recorded five songs for an EP with The Damned Things—I don’t think we’ll be playing, Anthrax is still touring on their last record. Every Time I Die just put out their new record, uh, who else? Josh Newton I think has been playing lately. He tech’d for Joe for awhile, I’m not sure if he’ll be back when we’re back. So you know, that’s all over the place.”
