Primitive Man Premiere “Entity” Music Video

Primitive Man have premiered a new video for their new song “Entity.” This track is from the band’s new album “Immersion,” which will be released on August 14.

Ethan McCarthy commented:

“The inspiration for this video/song is a part personal experience, part Robert Johnson acknowledgment as the originator of taking the left-hand path of music, and part from a story out of Malachi Martin’s book “Hostage to the Devil” called “The Smiler.” On tour back in 2014, we stayed with a guy we met named Matt in Baltimore.

He had the book and I read through half of it in an evening. The story of “The Smiler” really stood out to me and I never forgot it. Years later when dealing with mental health issues, I kept thinking about the Smiler and how I was feeling as though I was entering “A marriage with nothingness”, embracing the “Naked Light” and had a “Kingdom Inside of me that they could not destroy.”

The lyrical content of the song places emphasis on mania and depression and how when mixed they can feel as though they are an Entity that lives inside of you, influencing your decisions and you are forced to watch. When you lose control and are unable to reel it back in, so you reluctantly lean into the chaos.

Self-harm, chaos and isolation. The cocoon in the video represents the feelings of isolation that come along with these extreme feelings of helplessness, pandemonium, shame, and an irrational and morbid desire to let everything go to shit.

Mix this in with being a touring musician and you get The old “hellhound on my trail” nod. But for us, it’s “Demon is catching up.””

Primitive Man Premiere “Menacing” Music Video

Primitive Man have premiered a new video for their new song “Menacing.” This track is from the band’s new album “Immersion,” which will be released on August 14. Ethan McCarthy commented:

“‘Menacing‘ is about asking the unhinged whirlwind of chaos that controls life to guide you through the various trials and tribulations one might encounter. And in what ways that can mold/shape a person’s character. I also speak on the lonely road that one can follow when they refuse to compromise on what they want in this life. Whatever that may be. And that there is a certain level of self-doubt and insanity that blankets all of this. Life is messy.”

Primitive Man Premiere New Song “The Lifer”

Primitive Man have premiered a new song titled “The Lifer.” This track is from the band’s new album “Immersion,” which will be released on August 14.

Ethan McCarthy said the following:

“‘The Lifer‘ is about being cursed with and unable to shed the desire to create. The lack of financial security that comes with that. It is also about the ever-present on the road psychosis touring musicians get as well as the enemies you meet along the way.”

“Immersion” Track Listing:

01. “The Lifer”
02. “Entity”
03. “Menacing”
04. “∞”
05. “Foul”
06. “Consumption”

Primitive Man Premiere New Song “Oily Tears”

Primitive Man have premiered a new song titled “Oily Tears“. This track is from the band’s new split release with Hell, which will be available on February 22. Ethan McCarthy commented:

“‘Oily Tears’ is about how the earth is decaying right before our fucking eyes. We chose to do a split with Hell out of a mutual respect for their art. MSW has easily written some of the best doom/sludge songs of the last five years and we’re excited to be able to share a release with him.”
