Drowning Pool Premiere New Song “Choke”

Drowning Pool have premiered a new song titled “Choke.“ This track is from the band’s new album “Strike A Nerve,“ which will be released on September 30.

CJ Pierce commented:

“‘Choke‘ is another one of my favorite songs off ‘Strike A Nerve‘. Musically, we really wanted to push ourselves to extremes on this album and venture outside our musical comfort zone with some of the songwriting and playing – like you hear on ‘Mind Right‘ – but ‘Choke‘ is a perfect mix of the more traditional Drowning Pool style and the foundation we laid on the ‘Sinner‘ record, and the ever-evolving band that we have become with Jasen Moreno.

Lyrically, ‘Choke‘ comes from a place where many of us have been before. It’s about when someone has given up on you, put you down, and speaks nothing but words of negativity and hate. But like we always do, we fight through, we persevere, and we ultimately overcome. We’re still here, we’re still thriving, and we’re not going anywhere. We’re strong, and we hope you choke on your words!”

Drowning Pool To Release New Album “Strike A Nerve” In September, Premiere New Song “Mind Right”

Drowning Pool will be releasing a new album, titled “Strike A Nerve,” on September 30. Pre-orders can be found HERE.

“Strike A Nerve” Track Listing:

01. “Doing Time In Hell”
02. “Hate Against Hate”
03. “Stay And Bleed ”
04. “Strike A Nerve ”
05. “Racing To A Red Light”
06. “Choke”
07. “Everything But You”
08. “Down In The Dirt”
09. “Rope”
10. “A Devil More Damned”
11. “Mind Right”

Vocalist Jasen Moreno said the following about the record:

“This record is so badass, it’s perfect. It’s the four of us doing what we do to the best of our abilities. The band is tight in every way. We’re firing off on all cylinders. We’re at the top of our game. There are all different ways of saying it, but it all amounts to the same thing – the results are just magic. From the way the record sounds, to the writing of it, to the production, to the look of it – it’s just a perfect Drowning Pool record. None of us could ask for anything more…”

Guitarist CJ Pierce continued:

“‘Strike A Nerve‘ is the most exciting and intense music from Drowning Pool to date. We’ve stayed true to the core sound people know from us, but we’ve taken everything we do to another level. We’ve been writing music together for over twenty years – half of that with Jasen – and this album is more refined and more true to who we are than anything we’ve done before. Sometimes it’s heavier than we’ve ever been, sometimes it’s lighter, and sometimes we go in a direction that surprises even us – but it’s always just brutally honest, and that comes through in every track.”

The effort’s first single, “Mind Right,“ can be found below. Pierce added the following about that:

“‘Mind Right‘ started with the core Drowning Pool sound, then really dug into our southern metal roots. This song was written not long after Vinnie Paul died, as a tribute of sorts to him and Dime and a way for us to to honor the impact Pantera had on our local Dallas scene.

It’s probably the heaviest song we’ve recorded, but it’s the perfect way to close ‘Strike A Nerve‘; like the title of the song says, we all need to get our minds right. We need to see what’s going on around us, stand up for what we believe in, and always focus on the bigger picture. We can’t wait to play this one live!”

On another note, Drowning Pool also have the following dates booked:

09/17 Orlando, FL – Central Florida Metal Fest

Drowning Pool Sign With UMe/T-Boy For New Album “Strike A Nerve”

Drowning Pool have signed a new deal with UMe/T-Boy. With this news, the band also confirmed that their new album, “Strike A Nerve,” will be released later this year.

Jasen Moreno commented:

“I’m so grateful for such a big opportunity, and I’m proud of everyone’s hard work that afforded us this chance. It’s been such a flood of emotions since we started recording this album and talking to Universal, it almost didn’t seem real when everything was put on pause because of Covid. I’m so eager for people to hear the new record and get out there and perform it live. I’m very excited, and I welcome the pressure of the moment, but what I feel most is gratitude and anticipation for what the future holds.”

Stevie Benton added:

“I don’t want to be one of those guys who spouts off about ‘Strike A Nerve’ being the greatest record we’ve ever made, but I’m looking forward to letting everyone who hears it have that debate. What I will say is that we put every bit of our heart and soul into these songs and hope everyone digs the album as much as we do.”

Drowning Pool, Ill Niño, (hed)p.e., And Evolution Empire Postpone Fall U.S. Tour

Drowning Pool, Ill Niño, (hed)p.e. and Evolution Empire have postponed their fall U.S. tour. The trek is currently being rescheduled for 2022.

The following statement was issued:

“We regret to announce that the Brothers In Arms Tour is being postponed.

The escalating costs, logistics and risk of moving a multi-band tour like Drowning Pool, Ill Nino, HED PE and Evolution Empire from city to city while adhering to ever-changing local mandates and recommendations unfortunately poses too many concerns to be sure we can fulfill the entire tour as planned.

The tour is currently being rescheduled for March/April 2022, and complete details will be announced in the coming days. Please hold onto your tickets, as they will be good for the new dates.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we look forward to seeing you all on the road when we can celebrate twenty years of music and friendship in the safest way possible.

Thank you,

Drowning Pool / Ill Nino / HED PE / Evolution Empire“

Drowning Pool Announce 20th Anniversary Vinyl Pressing Of “Sinner”

Drowning Pool will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2001 album “Sinner” by releasing it on vinyl for the first time. The record will be available on September 17 and it can be pre-ordered HERE.

Jasen Moreno commented:

“‘Sinner‘ is literally perfect. I remember hearing and seeing it all come together. We shared the local Dallas scene back then—Drowning Pool and an old band I used to be in—and I’d like to say we kept each other honest and made each other better through competition… but it was never even close.

Dave [Williams] and the guys were the dudes shaping the scene. I shared many stages with Drowning Pool before I was ever their lead singer, and I remember feeling hyped after each performance. I remember believing we’d finally upstaged them. I would have that hope right up until they took the stage and began to play, and then the truth was evident—Dave, Stevie, C.J., and Mike were always multiple steps ahead of any other band on the scene.

The ‘Sinner‘ album was magic, and the guys were on fire. I believe that the record is perfect as a whole, full of catchy hooks both vocally and musically. I heard and saw those songs before a million other people around the world did, and I knew back then that Drowning Pool was destined to win. It feels crazy to go from a hater to their frontman, but let that be my testimony to the undeniable force that remains ‘Sinner‘.”

Mike Luce continued:

“To be here marking twenty years of ‘Sinner‘ is just mind-blowing. There are so many memories of this record that I’ll carry for life. It would require a book to properly express all that’s in my head and heart and all that led up to and came out of its release. As a kid growing up and playing drums, I dreamed of being in a band with my buds and maybe someday putting out a record. Well, we did – and it kicked ass! Thanks to all that allowed this messed-up, work-in-progress of a soul to live a dream.”

C.J. Pierce added:

“I can’t believe it’s been two decades since we introduced the world to ‘let the bodies hit the floor’ and helped teach young kids and parrots around the world to count to four. Some of the greatest times and best memories of my life are from when ‘Sinner‘ came out, so this vinyl release is really special. We can’t wait to see everyone out at the shows again, and we’re looking forward to rocking all these songs, and our newest songs live!”
