Drowning Pool Working On New Album

It looks like Drowning Pool have started the writing process for their follow-up to “Hellelujah.” The band confirmed the news during a recent chat with 97.1 The Eagle.

C.J. Pierce said the following:

“We’re working on new songs right now, which is awesome. We’re working on tunes for the next record. We have a bunch of stuff on the plate. Everybody’s brought amazing stuff, material. The thing with this is just to try and go through and see what we’re gonna do on the next record. So we’ll hash out all the ideas and songs and then start narrowing it down. So it’s nice to have more than enough to go through.”

He also added the following when asked how the new material compares to “Hellelujah”:

“It’s just a continuation of that. I mean, it’s rock and roll. There’s a lot of different ideas, again, on the table, so it’s coming together. Jay [vocalist Jasen Moreno] and Steve [bassist Stevie Benton] bring a lot of lyrics to the table as of late as well. I love the double meanings in everything that we have. We’re getting deeper with the lyrics — deep tracks — so it’s getting there. [We’re] just evolving as a band, and it’s monumental. This next record with Jasen, it’s three records in [with the same singer] — the first time we’ve done that with anybody. So, obviously, we like Jay; he’s gonna stay around.”

Drowning Pool’s CJ Pierce Says The Band Want To Get 82-Year-Old “America’s Got Talent” Contestant John Hetlinger Onstage With Them

An 82-year-old America’s Got Talent contestant named John Hetlinger made headlines when he covered Drowning Pool‘s “Bodies” on the show. CJ Pierce has since talked to Artisan News Service, and said that the band are trying to get in touch with him, so he can sing the track onstage with them.

Pierce said the following:

“We’re going to get in touch with John, we’re going to have him up onstage with us at some point before the end of this year. I know it’s going to be happen, we gotta have him out there doing it live with us, that’ll be awesome.”

“We gotta get him on like a big festival in front of a lot of people. We definitely need to find, pick the right place and time for it. I’m looking forward to meet him and again we do appreciate, we’re flattered that he sang the song, I think he did a killer job. I was entertained, I’m still cracking up over it.”

He also talked to Loudwire, and said Chicago Open Air might be a good place for Hetlinger to perform:

“That would be great if he could do that [perform with the band]. I still have a flood of emails and texts that I have not even gone through yet, but I’m hoping. The feelers are out there and I think it would be fun. Obviously he had a great time with the song and we have a great time with the song every night so it would be awesome to have him onstage with us. I just mentioned Open Air because it’s the next big festival coming up that we’re playing and if we’re going to do it, I’d rather do it right and have him on a big show like that. So I’m hoping he does. We’d love to get in touch with him or hope he gets in touch with us and I’m looking forward to meeting him anyway. He just seems like a great guy anyway, working on the Hubble telescope and everything, that’s freaking cool. And he was a Navy pilot. Good for him.”
