Sonata Arctica Postpone “Acoustic Adventures – Volume One” And Upcoming European Tour

Sonata Arctica’s new acoustic album “Acoustic Adventures – Volume One” has been delayed until January 21, 2022. Furthermore, the band have also postponed their “Acoustic Adventures MMXXI” tour with Eleine until fall 2022.

Keyboardist Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg commented:

“Despite of the circumstances slowly getting better, we will unfortunately have to postpone our Acoustic Adventures European Tour that was supposed to happen this fall. This is not a light decision by any means but right now we cannot go forward with the tour as planned. However we will be back in 2022, postponed doesn’t mean canceled. Our Acoustic Adventures – Volume One album will also be released a few months later than originally planned but rest assured, it will be worth the wait. We’re really looking forward to getting out there again and play for you all, rather sooner than later. Meanwhile, take care.”

Vocalist Tony Kakko added:

“This acoustic form of Sonata Arctica has been slowly brewing for years. The first manifestation of it, besides the few acoustic versions of songs released throughout the years, was the Acoustic Adventures Tour in 2019, which proved to be a great success, sparking an idea to get these songs also recorded and out on an album. Or two albums, at least for starters. Our songs have always been based on beautiful melodies, which makes it very easy to transform and rearrange them perfectly into the acoustic form as well. I should mention that many of the songs work so well dressed in acoustic garments.”

“I hope you love these albums as much as we do. There are many, many songs we had to leave out of these Volume One and Volume Two albums, so nothing would please me more than adding few more volumes in the future.”

Sonata Arctica To Release New Album “Talviyö” In September, Premiere “A Little Less Understanding” Lyric Video

Sonata Arctica have announced that their new album “Talviyö” will be released on September 6. You can check out a lyric video for the first single, “A Little Less Understanding,” below:

Vocalist Tony Kakko said the following about the song:

“The song is lyrically somewhat a follow up for ‘I Have A Right’ and talks about the difficulty of making the right choices with the upbringing of a new human being.”

He also commented on the album:

“The idea was to create an album that is musically in line with at least the previous two albums. I am very happy with the songs and the general mood of the album. Some career highlights there, I feel.”

Keyboardist Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg added:

“We recorded a bunch of kick-ass songs and tried some new stuff as well. I’m really proud of how we managed to record the band sounding more live, playing together instead of just tracking everything one by one.”

“Mikko [Tegelman] produced the album and he really managed to push us to do our best, even with the more experimental stuff. Working with an outside producer was the biggest new thing we tried this time.”

Klingenberg also commented on the artwork:

“We were talking about having an album cover made from a photo and luckily managed to find this award-winning photographer Onni Wiljami who actually hails from a village not too far from our hometown and his pictures were just perfect for this album.”
