Dååth Recruit Septicflesh Drummer Kerim Lechner For New EP

Dååth have started the recording process for their new EP. Notably, the effort will feature drums from Septicflesh’s Kerim Lechner.

Guitarist Eyal Levi issued the following statement:

“Eyal here with our 2nd studio update. Drums for the new DAATH songs are done, and are incredible! This time we collaborated with the one and only @_krimh_ . He is perfect for the new music. His blend of power, tasteful playing, deep groove, and unrelenting speed made him our top choice, and thankfully, he was down!

I became a fan of Krimh in 2020 when @jensbogren mentioned him, and noted that at some point I would work with him. I didn’t know how. I just knew that I wanted to.

Fast forward to late 2021: DAATH was back and new music was being seeded. After 12 years off nobody knew if it would even be good. It wasn’t just good, it was awesome! Once we had a clear initial direction @seanzscreams and I hit up Krimh and to see if he wanted to write the new music with us. Not as a session drummer, but as a true collaborator. We agreed to try one song and see how it goes. One song quickly became more.

The last several months we went back and forth on the music. I would write, send to him, he would write parts on his e-kit, make suggestions, and send it back. Then I would evolve the song further, and repeat the process until we ended up with something amazing.

Krimh elaborates: “I remember back in the day when I went to my local music store to check out “The Hinderers“. I especially enjoyed the groovy elements in DÅÅTHs music and now, years later, I can be part of this project. It felt good to be involved with the songwriting and not just get a final song structure with pre-made midi drum beats. It definitely helped the songs and made them as powerful as they are.”

He recorded with his longtime engineer, @leitner.norbert , who did a great job capturing some ferocious performances. Previously I’ve felt the need to be involved in every part of DAATH productions, and it was nice to trust that it would come out great without me there. And it did!

More studio updates OTW. We are tracking bass, leads, orchestra, and synth. The mix is in September. New music is out in October!

Septicflesh Premiere New Song “A Desert Throne”

Septicflesh have premiered a new song titled “A Desert Throne.” This track is from the band’s new album “Modern Primitive,“ which will be released on May 20. The group said the following about the song:

“This is a more epic song with dominant dramatic melodies. Will mankind be leaving behind a barren Earth as its legacy? A desert planet like Mars? For the visualization of the song, a small animation sequence was created by Cloud Factory and was ‘dressed’ appropriately with the lyrics of the song. Enjoy!”

Septicflesh Premiere “Neuromancer” Music Video

Septicflesh have premiered a new video for their new song “Neuromancer.” This track is from the band’s new album “Modern Primitive,“ which will be released on May 20.

Sotiris Anunnaki V commented:

“A technologically advanced society, where morals decline and crime thrives, is the ‘stage’ of this song. The main character is suffering from severe neural damage. In order to receive a cure, and be able to physically reconnect to the global network, he accepts an obscure hacking mission. After all, the virtual reality data space, to him, is more like home.

The skeleton of the song was structured upon the 12 string guitar. The main melody and the various emotional tones of the song were crafted upon this more organic-sounding instrument. Then, after arrangement decisions were taken, the song turned out the way you hear it. Besides the strings, brass, and other standard orchestra sections used, a mandolin takes a lead role preparing for the climax of the addictive chorus and the ultra-heavy main riff. Also, there is a more theatrical interaction with the various vocal styles within our arsenal in this song.”

Septicflesh Premiere “Hierophant” Music Video

Septicflesh have premiered a new video for their new song “Hierophant.” This track is from the band’s new album “Modern Primitive,” which will be released on May 20.

The following was said about the song in a press release:

“‘Hierophant‘ tells the first part of story written by guitarist and clean vocalist Sotiris Anunnaki V titled ‘Salvation‘. It depicts the experience of a high priest, acting as a human conduit between Heaven and Earth. Having never heard a single word from the mouth of god, he grows tired of preaching the preordained words of the clergy. He turns to performing primitive and powerful rituals that have been long forbidden, as he seeks the guidance of a chaotic elemental consciousness. The second part of the tale will be revealed with the track ‘Self-Eater‘.”

Vocalist/bassist Seth Siro Anton continued:

“‘Hierophant‘ is the result of an experiment with ideas that have been haunting our minds for quite a long time. Eventually they matured, leading us to create one of our darkest compositions ever. It is a rhythmical song with profane heavy riffing, layered with melodies that bring to mind chants from mystical ancient civilizations like the Egyptians.”

Guitarist Christos Antoniou added:

“We found it appropriate to add an imposing ritualistic element to the song. So, from the first second until the end, the orchestration is focused 100% on its grim task, to create an awe-inspiring atmosphere and put the listener at the center of this forbidden ceremony.”

“Modern Primitive” Track Listing:

01. “The Collector”
02. “Hierophant”
03. “Self-Eater”
04. “Neuromancer”
05. “Coming Storm”
06. “A Desert Throne”
07. “Modern Primitives”
08. “Psychohistory”
09. “A Dreadful Muse”

Hellfest organizers commented:

“Hellbangers,

What can we say except that we are proud (and excited) to finally unveil the long-awaited line up of our anniversary edition! Keeping such a line up as a secret for several weeks has been no easy task, especially in the last few days…

It’s been more than 16 months since our work rhythm was turned upside down by the arrival of this virus, since the live music industry was extinguished. Despite this, our confidence has never been affected and we have kept working with a positive mindset.

The frustration of two years without a festival has led us to dream even bigger about our reunion! In 2022, we are offering a new and unique format spread over 10 days! Never done before, this formula will, without a doubt, remain in the history of so-called “extreme” music! Twice as historic, because this formula is meant to exist only in 2022 and will not happen again in the years to come.

After a first weekend from 17 to 19th June 2022, we double the fun with an additional weekend from 23rd to 26th June! A real marathon that will see no less than 350 artists on 6 stages!

As usual, the festival does not deviate from its principles: you will see artists capable of performing in stadiums, with artists who are usually playing in smaller venues, and for some even in pub caves. Punk, Heavy, Black, Hardcore, Death, Stoner, Pagan, Power, we have done our best to put together what we believe to be the “edition of the century”.

No need to list the program in detail as you are not, and for the second year, headbanging at the festival right now. You can find out all this by yourself, at home or with your friends, enjoying our virtual edition “Hellfest From Home“! (More information over here : fromhome.hellfest.fr)

This exceptional edition is also an opportunity for us to thank the pass holders who have been waiting for more than 2 years. Your loyalty and trust have kept us going and we do not have enough words to thank you. It seemed fair to us that you should access the ticket sale 24 hours before the public sale in order for you to obtain your ticket for sure.

We are aware that some of you, for professional, family or simply financial reasons, will not be able to attend this XXL edition. By going through (and only through!) our partner TICKETSWAP (please stop Viagogo and others…), you will be able to resell your pass for the weekend you are the least interested in, and thus make one more happy fan!

For all the others who will have the chance to live these 10 days of anthology with us, we promise that you will remember our reunion! As a bonus, we might even make you a nice “FINISHER” t-shirt so that this moment will remain engraved forever in your memories. Once in a lifetime celebration!

Last but not least, we could not finish without thanking all those who have supported us during these last months. Volunteers, intermittents, sponsors, service providers, media partners, people from Clisson, we are all eager to see you again and to live with you this future adventure, which promises to be historic!

Stay Strong. Stay Safe.

Act Of Denial (Soilwork, Testament, Etc.) Premiere New Song “Puzzle Heart”

Bjorn “Speed” Strid (Soilwork, etc.), Voi Cox (Koziak, Victim), Luger (Benighted, Koziak), Steve DiGiorgio (Testament), Kerim “Krimh” Lechner (Septicflesh), and John Lönnmyr (The Night Flight Orchestra) have joined forces in a new project called Act Of Denial. The band are currently working on a new album, titled “Negative,” and their first single, “Puzzle Heart,” can be found below:

Voi and Luger commented:

“This is now just a continuation of what we have been doing all our lives and only now in our ‘older age’ we have done something serious. Of course when it comes to music, at least for us, we wanted to record an album with some of the best musicians in metal music and the ones that we listened to when we were kids.

We are not saying that this is something special what we are doing, but this means a lot to us and basically we are doing this for ourselves and our closest friends first but also for all the metal fans around the world who we hope are going to like our new music. Anybody can do it nowadays and we will support everyone no matter what.

If there wasn’t this COVID pandemic this would have never happened since all of these guys would have been on tour or busy with their own bands. We were playing our whole lives together and we don’t wanna say that the bands we played in before were not good or were good let music fans decide and let our music speak for itself but now this is a completely different story.

When you are getting older you get a better understanding about everything including music and here we are today playing with people who we listen to basically our whole lives.”

Septicflesh Share Orchestral Performance Of “The Vampire From Nazareth” From “Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX” Blu-ray

Septicflesh have shared a new live video for an orchestral version of “The Vampire From Nazareth.” The footage is taken from the band’s new live release, “Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX,“ which will be available on July 31. That effort was filmed during the band’s February 2, 2019 show at the Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City, Mexico in which they performed with the Symphonic Experience Orchestra, the Enharmonía Vocalis Choir, and the National University of Mexico Children’s and Youth Choir.
