Sonata Arctica Announce “Acoustic Adventures – Volume One” And European Tour

Sonata Arctica have announced that they will be releasing a new acoustic album titled “Acoustic Adventures – Volume One” in October 2021. Volume Two will follow in 2022. With this news, the band have also announced the dates for their “Acoustic Adventures MMXXI” tour with Eleine.

Vocalist Tony Kakko said the following about the upcoming albums:

“This acoustic form of Sonata Arctica has been slowly brewing for years. The first manifestation of it, besides the few acoustic versions of songs released throughout the years, was the “Acoustic Adventures Tour” in 2019, which proved to be a great success, sparking an idea to get these songs also recorded and out on an album. Or two albums, at least for starters. Our songs have always been based on beautiful melodies, which makes it very easy to transform and rearrange them perfectly into the acoustic form as well. I should mention that many of the songs work so well dressed in acoustic garments.”

“I hope you love these albums as much as we do. There are many, many songs we had to leave out of these ”Volume One” and ”Volume Two” albums, so nothing would please me more than adding few more volumes in the future. Looking forward to seeing you on tour again as soon as possible!”

Keyboardist Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg also added the following about the tour:

“Since our ‘Talviyö’ world tour is more or less over, it’s time to look ahead for the next challenge, and since we’ve had so much fun with the acoustic stuff, we decided to make an album as well, and, of course, we will hit the road immediately after that to celebrate the release of it. As of now, we have managed to set up an extensive European tour, and we’re really looking forward to getting out there an play some music for all of you.”

Sonata Arctica To Release New Album “Talviyö” In September, Premiere “A Little Less Understanding” Lyric Video

Sonata Arctica have announced that their new album “Talviyö” will be released on September 6. You can check out a lyric video for the first single, “A Little Less Understanding,” below:

Vocalist Tony Kakko said the following about the song:

“The song is lyrically somewhat a follow up for ‘I Have A Right’ and talks about the difficulty of making the right choices with the upbringing of a new human being.”

He also commented on the album:

“The idea was to create an album that is musically in line with at least the previous two albums. I am very happy with the songs and the general mood of the album. Some career highlights there, I feel.”

Keyboardist Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg added:

“We recorded a bunch of kick-ass songs and tried some new stuff as well. I’m really proud of how we managed to record the band sounding more live, playing together instead of just tracking everything one by one.”

“Mikko [Tegelman] produced the album and he really managed to push us to do our best, even with the more experimental stuff. Working with an outside producer was the biggest new thing we tried this time.”

Klingenberg also commented on the artwork:

“We were talking about having an album cover made from a photo and luckily managed to find this award-winning photographer Onni Wiljami who actually hails from a village not too far from our hometown and his pictures were just perfect for this album.”

Sonata Arctica Recording New Album, Announce “Acoustic Adventures” European Tour

Sonata Arctica have confirmed that they have been in the studio recording a new album, which is expected to be released in 2019. With this news, the band have also announced a European acoustic tour with Witherfall.

Keyboardist Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg commented:

“We’ve been locked up in the studio since the end of the summer working on our next studio album and decided we needed to take a break and go out and play some shows.

In the summer of 2016, we did an acoustic summer tour in Finland which was a lot of fun for both us and our fans; in fact, it was so great that we wanted to do it again and this time we’re not settling for just Finland — but taking this show all around Europe for the first time ever.

Now is a unique chance to hear our music in a completely different setting and we’re sure these evenings will be something really special. Our set will also include some stuff we’ve never played live before, and who knows — maybe even a new song from the upcoming album. See you at the shows!”
