  • Tony Iommi Announces “From The Dark” Listening Events

    Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi will be hosting some listening events for his new solo album, “From The Dark,” on October 22. That effort will be released on October 23 and it will feature singer Jørn Lande (ex-Masterplan), bassist Becky Baldwin (Mercyful Fate), and drummer Karl Brazil (Robbie Williams).

    Iommi shared more info:

    “The night before the release of Tony’s new album, you’ll be able to hear ‘From The Dark’ in full at one of our exclusive pre-listening parties around the world.

    There will also be exclusive giveaways including limited edition merch items and copies of the album. Everyone is invited to attend in one of the following cities on Thursday, 22nd October. For signup info and timings please make sure to check the venue’s socials. Thank you!

  • Anthrax Drummer Charlie Benante Explains Absence From Recent Live Shows

    As previously reported, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante was forced to sit out the band’s recent live shows in San Antonio, TX and Mexico City, MX. As it turns out, his absence was related to illness.

    Benante told MetalRules the following:

    “So what had happened — I missed, actually, two shows… So I kind of got sick after that Louder Than Life festival [in Louisville, Kentucky], and I heard from a lot of people that they got sick too from it. But it never came out; it wasn’t like a full-blown illness, like, okay, you get a cold, you know? So we started to do the L.A. shows, the two MAIDEN stadiums [at BMO Stadium on September 25 and September 27], and then we played The Roxy [in West Hollywood on September 26], and I started to feel crappy again. And then we flew from Los Angeles on the Monday to San Antonio. I woke up the next day with the craziest version of vertigo. I’ve never had it before, but this thing felt like I was on the worst rocking ship in the ocean, and I was just a fucking mess. I couldn’t function. I couldn’t even lift my head up, let alone pick up a pair of sticks. So I missed the show in San Antonio.

    The doctor came to see me, and our next show was going to be in Mexico City, and the doctor said, ‘I advise you not to get on a plane, and do not go to Mexico City, because with the higher elevation, it’s just gonna make it worse.’ So, I was done. I mean, it was the worst thing I’ve ever felt in my life. Like, you can’t even imagine — the room spinning and not being able to stop it. So I had to miss the two shows, which I was so bummed about, because, God, I love playing Mexico City too. And the San Antonio fans, there’s such a huge metal scene there. And it just bummed me out. But I’m feeling much better now. It was, like, the worst thing I’ve ever experienced.”

    Queen guitarist Brian May has taken to social media to clarify recent comments he made regarding his lack of interest to tour. He said the following:

    “This is a misinterpretation of what I actually said. I have actually never said Queen won’t ever tour again. I could never say never. I simply made a personal decision last year to take a break from touring. I’ve been making lots of music, and Roger [Taylor] and I are constantly working together on Queen projects behind the scenes. I don’t know what the future holds. I’m ever open to new adventures!”

    HANABIE. have revealed that they will be releasing a new album, titled “Umami,” on December 2. With this news, the group have also shared a new song titled “Bari Bari Buddy.” That track serves as the ending theme for the second season of “Reincarnated As A Sword.” The band commented:

  • Guitarist Mike Joseph Clampitt Exits VCTMS, Accuses Drummer Meredith Henderson Of Abuse

    Mike Joseph Clampitt has announced his departure from VCTMS. The guitarist exited the group after accusing drummer Meredith Henderson of abuse.

    Clampitt said the following:

    “After 5 years with VCTMS, I recently made the incredibly difficult but necessary decision to leave the band.

    While there were so many great moments shared, and I am so proud of the music we put out that I contributed to, this past tour revealed to me that a line in the sand had been crossed long ago and I could no longer be an “innocent” bystander to the constant level of abuse I was watching being done to our crew, other members, other camps on our tour packages, and even to myself.

    VCTMS has always had a rotating line of members and crew because everyone unfortunately reaches the same conclusion after spending time with us. Meredith is abusive in the way she treats others, and John and I enabled that abuse by never having the courage to stand up to her when necessary. For years I watched her berate others, throw physical items, publicly humiliate crew, refuse to pay people, and use band funds for inappropriate uses. All while keeping members of our management and team in the dark on all of it.

    I’ve watched and allowed Meredith to put us in dangerous situations, some being life-threatening, and have had to sit back while she selfishly makes choices that constantly negatively impact others. Any attempts at compromise or good-faith conversation were always met with extreme negative reactions, and so that avenue was abandoned quickly into my time here.

    I have held my tongue while she berated me, called me useless, cruel names, and did the same to crew, while she prioritized her own enjoyment on tour and rarely ever contributed to the aspects that go into being in a band.

    VCTMS has cost me opportunities, it has cost me friendships, it has caused me emotional strife. Mainly because others have urged me to leave due to the constant abuse others witness on a day to day basis, and I always hoped things would get better.

    I want to stress this is not coming from a place of malice, cruelness, or an attempt to ruin the bands reputation. But until these kinds of repeated actions are brought to attention and fully addressed, there’s no possibility for anyone to be given the room to change or grow.

    This past experience, made me realize I had to stop being complacent, and accept my role in why the abuse was able to go on for so long unchecked. It was my responsibility to stand up for myself, my crew, and my friends much earlier. I hope my decision to no longer put up with this treatment shows my own willingness to accept and correct my own mistakes in this situation. And i hope everyone I let down in the past with my silence can forgive me.

  • Calva Louise Premiere “La Promesa” Video

    Calva Louise have premiered a new video for their new song “La Promesa.” You can see that below:

    According to a press release, the new track “explores the abstract feeling of invisible forces pushing you forward.” Frontwoman Jess Allanic added:

    “Although some of those forces can be positive, others can become empty promises rooted in obsessions and delusions, eventually blurring the lines between doing the right thing, accepting a more challenging path or choosing to ignore the consequences of your own actions because it’s the easy way out.

    As Spanish is my native language, it feels more natural for me to accurately convey the abstract emotions that we are experiencing. Also as the song is heavily inspired by Venezuelan Joropo (also known as ‘Música Llanera’), Spanish was subconsciously the only way for me to sing this melody, letting the natural flow of the writing process take total control. That being said, some French lines are sung by our bass player Alizon, as a nod to our multicultural background, and also adding another perspective to the characters’ point of view.

    The video for ‘La Promesa‘ was like our previous videos made by ourselves and our friends and it expands on the story of one of the characters of Edge Of The Abyss. Although the video is a DIY endeavor, we feel we keep continuing to progress in our abilities, always trying to increase the production value.”
