• Ill Niño Part Ways With New Guitarist Xander Raymond

Ill Niño have parted ways with guitarist Xander Raymond. This news comes after he barely joined the band earlier this year.

    Raymond issued the following statement:

“In the beginning of 2026, I was hired by the band ILL NINO to become a permanent replacement and the newest member. Last night, I received a call telling me they no longer need me as a replacement. This was a total shock, as I was committed for several months, and the first show is 3 weeks away. I was informed this decision was completely out of my control, and I had nothing to do with it.

As of today, I am available for work. If anyone needs a guitar player, I’m here. I keep my word, and I commit to what I agree to.

Lastly, there is no bad blood, and I understand this is strictly a business decision. I wish ILL NINO nothing but the best.

  • Watch Sepultura Perform “The Place” Live For The First Time

During their March 20 show in Perth, Australia, Sepultura performed “The Place” live for the first time. You can see fan-filmed footage of that below. The track is from the band’s new EP, “The Cloud Of Unknowing,“ which will be released on April 24.

  • Raven To Record New Album This Summer

During a recent interview with The Five Count, Raven bassist/vocalist John Gallagher offered an update on the band’s new album. According to him, the group will record the effort this summer.

    Gallagher said the following:

“The [‘Can’t Take Away The Fire’] EP really points to where the next album’s going to be, which we have pretty much all the songs written. We have an awful lot of songs, and I think we have everything we need. We just have to go through them and see what would be a good starter, what would follow that, what would be a good end and fill in the gaps. And we will probably be recording that in the summer, [around] July, August. So we’ll be able to, in our down moments on the [spring 2026 North American] tour, which won’t be many, we’ll be playing songs and going, ‘What do you think of this one? What do you think of that one?’ But I’m excited. The stuff we’ve got, it’s yet another step ahead — more intense, more melodic, more heavy, more crazy. [Laughs] A little bit of everything.”

He also confirmed that the group are planning more touring in support of the album:

“Yeah, we’re already planning for 2027. It’s looking really good so far. And I’m just excited to kick it all into gear, get it going.”

    He also added:

“We’ll be discussing title and cover idea for the new [album] when we’re out there [on the road]. Because we’re spread a little bit all over the map — Mike’s [Heller, RAVEN drummer] out in Texas, [RAVEN guitarist Mark Gallagher and I are] here Florida. But we shall be throwing ideas at each other.”

  • Blue Medusa (Ex-Arch Enemy, Etc.) Are Planning To Release “A Bunch Of Singles” Before Putting Out Full-Length Album

During a recent Q&A session, Blue Medusa vocalist Alissa White-Gluz (ex-Arch Enemy, ex-The Agonist) discussed their plans for more new music. According to her, the band are planning to “release a bunch of singles” before releasing a full-length album.

    White-Gluz said the following:

“We are thinking maybe it’s fun to release a bunch of singles, because, I love making music videos as much as I love writing songs, and I love being able to assign a moment in time. Like March 20th is ‘Checkmate’ day now, and I love being able to assign a moment in time and a theme and a visual to a song because I feel like it just makes it so much stronger — for me anyways, it does. And so I’m kind of digging the idea of giving you guys a lot of singles. And then, of course, there will be an album as well. And I will keep you guys posted on all of that.”

    She also discussed live shows:

“We do have two festivals already announced, and those are in the USA: Louder Than Life and Aftershock festival, which are both festivals that I have attended in the past, and they are amazing. So if you’re based in the USA and you do wanna see BLUE MEDUSA live, I can guarantee you’re gonna see us at those festivals. And if you’re not from the USA and you feel like doing like a vacation or something, you can always time it around that because those festivals are really, really huge and they’re very cool. But you also don’t have to worry, because we will absolutely be touring everywhere that I have toured in the past. We are coming to see all of you again. I can’t go that long without seeing you. A lot of you know, I know you by name when I see you in the front row or at a meet-and-greet. You guys have become a part of my life in a way that is so important for making this music happen and making all of this happen. So I’m gonna see you again soon. As soon as we have anything confirmed, you will hear about it. It’ll be on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Patreon. We’re gonna post about it. So don’t even worry. We will be back soon and be performing for you guys.”

  • The Troops Of Doom (Ex-Sepultura) Recruit Testament, Destruction, Etc. Members For Cover Of KISS’ “God Of Thunder”

The Troops Of Doom, the project featuring Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz (ex-Sepultura), have recruited Chuck Billy (Testament), Andria Busic (Dr. Sin), PJ (Jota Quest), and Martin Furia (Destruction) for a new cover of KISS’ “God Of Thunder.” You can check that out below. Guedz commented:

“Since The Troops Of Doom was formed back in 2020, we’ve used ‘God Of Thunder’ as a pre-intro in our shows. Whenever the audience hears this song playing through the P.A., they already know the band is about to hit the stage. It’s almost a ritual for us. We all grew up listening to KISS, so this track has always held a special meaning. We are huge fans of all the musicians involved. Each one was carefully chosen for representing something we truly admire. That makes the result even more special. Above all, this song is a celebration of what connects us: the love for KISS and heavy music.”

  • Heidi Shepherd On Handling All Of The Vocals For Butcher Babies: “I Feel Comfortable”

During an appearance on Knotfest’s “She’s With The Band” podcast, Heidi Shepherd opened up about taking on all the vocals for Butcher Babies following the departure of Carla Harvey. According to her, she “feels comfortable” as the band’s sole singer.

    Shepherd said the following:

“Being a co-lead vocalist, I think that each of us had our own identities in this as well. I think that I learned so much in all the years of the give-and-take. I’ve run this band, this business out of my living room for the last almost 20 years. And so it kind of really was just the next step, taking all those lessons that I had learned in the past and just kind of like putting it all in. But it’s been fine. And I feel comfortable. And I’m so lucky that I have my team.

This isn’t just me. [Guitarist] Henry [Flury] has been in this band from the beginning, and my team has been here forever. My lawyer has been my lawyer for almost 17 years now. And so this is so much bigger than just two singers in a band. This is so much bigger than that. There are people that feed their families off of what we do. There are people who, their jobs are coming on tour with us and helping our show be as successful as it can be day in and day out. So when it came to moving into the shoes of just the sole lead in this, there’s a responsibility to keep it going for these people. And I think that I am also grateful for them for wanting to keep going as well. So this has been a group effort. And here we are three years later, feeling good, [with a] new album coming out, and it’s just, to us, the next step.”

She continued after the interviewer mentioned the positive comments on the band’s song “Sincerity”:

“Oh, really? I didn’t read them. [Laughs] I don’t read comments … but I can tell from people’s reaction live that it’s been a good reaction.

The shows have been really fun. It has been so fun. There’s just such a fire in this band right now. And it’s not [just] me — it’s our drummer, it’s our bass player, it’s Henry, our guitar player, our tour manager, our manager, agents, everybody. Our lawyer — our lawyer’s fired up… He’s been the backbone of this band from the beginning… Our whole team has just this incredible fire right now. And so I feel, when I am a little overwhelmed or I feel a little bit of doubt or anything, I have my whole team to back us up. So it’s been a ride. But that roller coaster’s fun.”

Shepherd also added the following when asked how becoming the only singer in the band affected her outlook on “public perception versus reality”:

“Well, that is actually something I had to tackle in therapy. That was the initial thing, is, ‘People, are they even gonna believe in me? I’ve been the lead vocalist of this band for 20 years, but are they gonna think that I can still do it?’ I’ve been doing this, but now I just do a couple extra lines, lyrics on stage — I sing a couple extra lines on stage. And that was something that I’m, like, ‘What if people think that I can’t do this? What if people think that, ‘Oh, it’s gonna be horrible,” and blah, blah, blah. And [my therapist] told me, she’s, like, ‘But that’s a story you’re making up in your head. That’s something you are making up in your head. And then you’re gonna believe it.’ And I’m sure that there are those people out there, and that’s totally fine. I don’t mind having something to prove. In fact, that’s how this band became successful in the first place. So that’s how I’ve always lived my life. I’ve lived my life by the ‘no’. When people tell me ‘no’, I say, ‘Actually yes.’ So, doubt me. I want to feel like I’ve got something to prove, so that’s fine. But [my therapist was], like, ‘This is something that you are portraying yourself. This is something that you are telling yourself. So why don’t you tell yourself that people are gonna rally for you, that people are gonna be excited for you, and that people are gonna love what you come up with next? Why don’t you think that people are going to look forward to this new chapter instead of closing the book?’ And I was, like, ‘Oh, okay. You know what? That’s how I need to think.’ And granted, that’s an everyday — that’s a process every day. I still have to tell myself, ‘I need to think this way, I need to think this way, I need to think this way.’ Of course, every once in a while I’m gonna run across a shitty comment or someone’s gonna say something to me, but I have to not let my day be ruined by those little things.”

  • Failure’s Catalog Has Returned To Spotify

Failure’s catalog has officially returned to Spotify. This news comes after the band previously removed their music from the service in February 2022 due to the spread of COVID-19 misinformation, which was amplified by the company’s deal with Joe Rogan, and unfair compensation for artists. The band have yet to comment on their decision to rejoin the service, but it is seemingly tied to Failure Records’ partnership with Virgin Music Group’s imprint Arduous Records.

  • Boundaries’ Matt McDougal On “Skies Cast Amber Black” Mix: “We Had No Clue The Mix Would Be So Divisive”

Boundaries vocalist Matt McDougal has taken to Reddit to address complaints regarding the band’s signing to Sumerian Records and the mix of their latest single “Skies Cast Amber Black.” He says the group “had no clue the mix would be so divisive.”

    Here’s McDougal’s full statement:

“Really appreciate ya/ll for checking this out early, this sub has always been so supportive of us i look forward to seeing how you guys react to our art more than i do any other platform at this point. As far as why sumerian its pretty much the new Sharptone because the guy that ran that label moved to sumerian and we went with him, shopped labels for a bit but real life we’d get responses back akin to “they don’t make r&b music over low turned guitars or stream well enough not interested” so the landscape for places that will take on what we do artistically is sadly not as wide as one might think.

More and more labels are looking for overnight success TikTok bands they can rob blind and dump after a year which is largely what this song is about coincidentally. So far they’ve been great to us and we are looking forward to making a home here for at least the next little while and using the significant step up in resources to make even cooler stuff.

That all being said we had no clue the mix would be so divisive haha, we spent months on it and really love how it came out and we’re thankful for your honesty regarding how it hits peoples ears for the first time, i’ve been listening to this song in my room since fucking november and this mix really grew on me, maybe it will with everyone else as well? Who friggin knows. i can’t wait to be on the road playing it for you guys. We have so much more music locked and loaded.”
